I ordered an upgrade to a "Tilt 2" cell phone from AT&T through newegg.com for $199.99 as was advertised on their website. I telephone their orders and lo-and-behold, I was connected to INDIA (YES! The country!). Regardless of the fact that the connection was patchy and the person on the other end soke relatively good English, I placed my order and had to divulge impossible amounts of irrelevant information, like driver's license of the person's line I was upgrading etc. (I was expecting to be asked me for my wife's bra size) but the order went through without a problem until the next day when they decided I needed to pay a further $150 for my order to go through! I spent the next 3 days (most of it waiting for a chat session agent or being on hold on the phone) going backwards and forwards in an attempt to get them to honor their end of the agreement but to no avail - they apologized for THEIR mistake but would not hold up their end.
I have written-off newegg as an option to buy anything from in the future. I wonder if the positive reports of happy newegg customers are BS and not written by themselves. Customer service? What customer service? Don't waste your time.
