Lies, Lies and More Lies
I am writing as a concerned consumer, regarding the practice of the employees at Eagle Satellite Cellular One. During the first weekend in April they set up a tent in Clinton to gather new customers. Customers who were losing their cellular coverage from AT&T and also stating that they have better signals and service than Verizion all at a cheaper monthly price.

They promised me better signals, less dropped calls, in my area and in town. This is not true, I've contacted their National Customer Service, and it's a "known" issue with the weak or no signal service the company provides in multiple locations throughout Missoula County. The customer service agents I have spoken to, only offer an appology and advised me to make my calls outside. I asked them how this would be possible in the cold Missoula winters. To that, I got an "I dont know" responce.

They also promised me a $200 Pre-Paid card to "pay off" Verizion's ECF. They stated the card would take 60 days to reach me, and to date I still have not received my pre-paid card. I have also contacted the local office, left several unreturned messages, and the National Call Center to check on the status of this card. At the end of June, I was told the card was processed and mailed out on June 17th, and I should be recieing it any day. I called again today to check on the status of the card, and am now being told they have run out of them. When I questioned how they could offer something and them run out of them, the agent corrected herself and said they are running behind.

During the time I signed up at the Promotional Tent, I asked about summer travel, if we needed to leave the state of Montana. I was told "No Problem!" you have unlimited talk and text. for 2 weeks before my 12 year old daughter was set to go to California to visit her grandparents, I called and left messages and I also spoke with the customer service department again. At this point I was told that I would need to purchase a $69.99 plan for my daughters phone, and could not get my promotion back once I made the change. They did advise that I could add 100 "roaming" minutes to the current plan for $9.99 but this would only cover 100 minutes, after that, there would be a $0.30 per minute charge. I attempted to conact the local office and speak with the lady who sold me the phone, but she was never available nor would she return my calls. Each time I spoke with someone in the local office, I was told to dial 611 from my cell phone.

The contract had a 14 day period for you to like the product and cancel without penalty. Unfortunatly, Cellular One took 11 of those days to perform the port of my Verizion Phone to my new CellOne phone. During this "waiting" period, I could only receive calls on my Verizion phone, the CellOne phone only worked for Text Messages. This only left me 3 days to test the phone and see if I was happy with the service. I have called the customer service center about this issue as well, and they stated that it was Verizion fault and that I should contact them. Verizion stated their port service happens as quickly as the information is submitted to them. CellOne had no responce for me on this arguement that Verizion had.

I am now in a 30 month commitment, and when I've called to point out each and everyone of the issues listed above, agent argue with me and tell me there is nothing they can or will do about this and if I cancel my account, I will be charge $250 per line. Which on the paper work signed by me during the Tent Promotion, the sales rep crossed out a $175 ECF amount and hand wrote $250 on the form.

Wrongfully turned me into a collection agency
I received a collection notice from a company in TN claiming I owe Cellular One $408.08. The final bill was so high because I used my same number when I switched not knowing this would cancel my contract 5 days early. I paid this bill and it went through my account back in March. I never got any notices it was "unpaid" (which was never the case any way). Then on May 29th I all of a sudden get this notice. I call on Tuesday (couldn`t call Monday because of the holiday) and at first they tell me I have a zero balance and I was never turned into collections. Then I call the collection agency and they say I was turned in. So I call Cellular One and they say I was turned in after all, but it was their mistake. That they will call and get it straightened out. Now I`m waiting until the end of the week to find out what happens. I will update you!

Deceptive billing practice
Sent Nokia E63 phone in for repair on or about April 12, 2010. Received a "loaner" phone at which time I had my original plan suspended until original phone was repaired. Received "repaired" phone back on April 29, 2010. Original plan was to be reinstalled on phone and called to make sure it was. Whomever assisted me did not place original plan back on phone and I was not made aware of this fact at the time. Phone still did not work, was able to access internet 1/2 time and email was unfunctional. Called for help and only received text messages on how to operate. On May 25, 2010, a CellularOne employee called to inform me that I had accrued over $800.00 in charges on my phone beginning on April 29, 2010. She could not be specific as to what the "charges" were and only referred to them as "data" and text messages. She said the charges had accrued because I had not reinstated the original plan. I did on April 29, 2010 and evidently the representative did not reinstate them to the phone as promised. On a monthly basis since August of 2009, my phone bill has been roughly around $90.00 a month. I was surprised that someone did not contact me when the huge charges began accruing on the phone until the end of their billing cycle. She then informed me that the only way to dismiss the charges was to up my plan to $80.00 a month, (from $29.99) plus other charges. So in order to wipe the charges clear, I had to "upgrade" my plan. I feel that they held me hostage in order to get me to change my monthly plan, which as I may point out, is quite inferior to my original plan. I feel that I was not informed adequatley, nor in a timely fashion about huge charges showing on my phone, and that they waited until the end of the billing cycle to hold me hostage so that I would "up" my plan. I was threatened with collection if I did not go along with their resolution.

lies/deceit/fraudulant practices
have phone that is out of contract, when at the store tell them we want to cancell the phone and shut it off, they tell us to call their 611 number to do that, we called their 611 nimber they said no problem just call end of the month and all will be fine and shut off, so we wait till end of march 2010 and call 611 again to tell them we want the phone off at end of the month, they then say to just doit whne we go in to pay the bill on april 7 2010 and will be ok, we go into store on april 7 2010 to pay and was told to call their 611 number again, we call their 611 number again and tell them we want the phone shut off, they then tell us that we have to do that in the store, so we go back to the store to fix billing issue and to have the phone shut off again, they get on phone with their 611 nimber to shut off the phone and then tell us it will have to be shut off at end of april 2010 now not aas we were told several times it would be when we came in to pay, so now we have to pay another month on the phone we dont want because of their song and dance to stallus and to get us to have to have it another month, we feel this is outright deceit lies and fraud towards us in order to get more billing against us for something we dont want, I wonder how many others they do this to every month, I will be also making this complaint to the BBB, I think a class action suit may be in order for this type of business practice .

Fraud and scam
citi bank giving late fees when every other month my payment was made on the same date and it wasn't late. They have no way of proving that your payment is late is what they told me and that they just put it through whenever its convenient for them SORRY is what they told me. They just wanted to raise my rate is all and that was their excuse. I want my late fee charge back.

Thanks Nancy.

Beware
Be cautious when signing up with a cell phone company. Get a written contract and fully understand what the cancellation policy is. Don't be charmed by all their unlimited this and unlimited that. Don't be roped in by a seemingly great cell phone deal. It's not about you and it's not about the service. It's just about getting your money and padding their bottom line. The devil is really in the details when you are dealing with this kind of company. You may have no recourse against terrible customer service and terrible phone service. Beware and be smart. It will cost a lot if you don't pay attention. Unfortunately I learned the hard and costly way.
