My husband bought a Kia from Central Kia in Lewisville in 2003. As a past customer, he received a phone call from Central Kia offering $100 in gift cards if he came in for a test drive. Since we were looking for a vehicle for my daughter (and wanted to purchase something new, rather than used), we agreed to test drive a vehicle.
When we arrived, we were told that we would need the "flyer" that would come in the mail to obtain the gift card from Kia Corporate and that Kia Central was providing the other gift card ($50 each). We did, indeed, look at cars and my daughter went to Central Kia three days later and test drove a Kia Rio. She was told, also, that she would have to wait for the flyer. The salesman told us that they "didn't have their cards in yet."
We finally received our flyer and I called for a code. At first, the salesman stated that we would have to bring the flyer in to have it signed in order to obtain the "Dealer Code". I asked if I would receive the $50 gift card from Central Kia if I brought the flyer in to have it signed. (By the way, there was no signature area anywhere on the flyer). He never answered concerning the Central Kia gift card. When I told him that we would look for my daughter's car at another dealership, he (at my suggestion) went back to his Sales Manager and told him that they were losing a sale.
When the salesman came back to the phone, he said that his Sales Manager had given him the code, but that if we didn't come in a buy a car, he would lose his job. UNBELIEVABLE!!
I know that car dealerships are high-pressure, but this is truly unscrupulous. I am appalled and will certainly NEVER again frequent this dealership.
