Centreville Tire and Auto changed my transmission fluid in my 70/SE Volvo, year 2000. Centreville Tire and Auto replaced the transmission fluid with the wrong transmission fluid or different grade of transmission fluid (as recommended in my Service Manual for a 70/SE Volvo, year 2000 ) in a transmission that previously had Synthetic Transmission Fluid – after the transmission was drained or mixing Synthetic Transmission Fluid with regular grade Transmission Fluid. This action resulted in a Transmission Clutch Slippage Malfunction. I have document proof to validate my claim that because - Centreville Tire and Auto’s negligence or incompetence concerning the transmission fluid they replaced or put in my transmission during there services---was not originally Synthetic Transmission Fluid (as recommended by the Volvo Dealer) resulted in the malfunction of my Transmission. Note: Centreville Tire & Auto advertise that they are authorized to service Volvo cars. My vehicle was taken by Centreville Tire & Auto personnel, when they ran into a problem with my transmission, to an authorized Volvo Dealer who actually inspected my transmission and did a comprehensive evaluation on my transmission – that clearly validates the chronology that lead to the fault of my transmission. This inspection by the authorized Volvo Dealer resulted in documented proof that my transmission failed due to negligence of the Centreville Tire & Auto. Note: It was Centreville Tire & Auto who took my Volvo to the Fairfax Volvo Dealer between 06/-2/2008 - 06/06/2008. The Volvo Dealer Service Manager: Mr. Terry Welcome at (703) 591-1820, ext 331, validates that an inspection was executed on my vehicle by the Volvo Dealer, right (same day) after the Centreville Auto conducted services on my transmission”. Mr. Welcome will also validate that Centreville Tire & made several calls to thier shop prior to bringing my Volvo into the Volvo Dealer, concerning questions about the what, when, where, and how to questions concerning my transmission – after they started experiencing problems during there execution of services on my transmission in there shop (Centreville Tire & Auto)! I immediately submitted a compliant to the following Fairfax County Consumer Affairs Agency on 06/15/2008: Consumer Affairs Attention: Investigator Roy Seger Case Number#: 446749 Consumer Protection 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 433 Fairfax, VA 22035 The Fairfax Consumer Affairs conducted a 12 plus month investigation. My file number for my compliant is Case# 446749. The investigation concluded in 11/2009 with no resolution between Mr. Gary Malm (the owner of Centreville Tire and Auto) and myself. Fairfax County Consumer Affairs concluded that my case raised strong possibilities that the Centreville Tire and Auto's service to my transmission - resulted in the transmission failure. The Fairfax County Consumer Affairs informed me that they could not make Mr. Malm (the owner) reimburse me the faulty services to my transmission. The Fairfax County Consumer Affairs did try unsuccessfully to get Mr. Malm to settle with me. Mr. Malm declined to accept responsibility for his shop's faulty service. What is most disturbing about this whole situation is that I had been taking my vehicles to Centreville Tire & Auto for routine periodic preventive maintenance service for well over five years. I never had any problems with this shop. So, this isn't some isolated vendetta on my part! I am a military veteran who served my country for 30 years. I am a successful Executive who works for a prestigious company in the Capital Belt area. This complaint is about principles, accountability, and the rights of the cunsumer in the Fairfax County. Note: It was determined or observed during the Fairfax County Consumer Affairs 12 plus month investigation that the Centreville Tire & Auto's mechanic that executed the transmission service on my vehicle and the Shop Foreman were mysteriously "fired" subsequent this situation. The case has so many dynamics and raises some serious conclusions. Summary: I can't understand why the Fairfax County Consumer Affairs could not make Mr. Malm settle, if they determined that his shop failed me as the consumer. based on what was communicated to me by the Fairfax County Consumer Affairs: "There agency only has the authority to mediate between the consumer and the vendor in their county. They do not have the authority to charge or direct Mr. Malm to settle. I was informed that the only why I could get Centreville Tire & Auto (Mr. Malm) to be accountable for this faulty service was to take him to court. The cost for a lawyer to represent my case - required an up front retainer fee between $2500 - $3000 to begin my case. I don't believe that I should have to invest any more money into this situation - if the Fairfax County Consumer Affairs believes that my case has merit. Conclusion: The system appears very unfair for the consumer. In order to get resolution for my situation - I would have to put out almost $3000 dollars to attempt to get back $4500 dollars. This doesn't seem fair!! I am an unhappy consumer with the Centreville Tire & Auto facility. To this date, thier is no resolution between myself and the Centreville Tire & Auto facility.
