I responded to an ad on craigslist (probably won't be doing much of that anymore) and was set up on an interview for a Customer Service Represenative position. While on hold, I was listening to the hold music which was really a recording stating that there were many opportunities available within the Pacifica company. I went to the interview, as scheduled and when I walked into the buliding, I noticed the company name was actually Savannah Distributing. The name on the door wasn't even on a face plate. It was a piece of paper printed out on a computer and taped to the door. Tacky, I know. I went to the "interview" with another applicant sitting in there. We were interviewed at the same time. The hiring manager was a very good salesman, but not that good. He went for the kill asking us if we were married and had any children. I have later found out that it is illegal to ask someone those kind of questions during an interview. Here is the deal he gave us. Base rate for this job is $1675 per month. All we had to do as "customer service reps" is pack ourselves into a white van 6 days a week from sun up to sundown, with two other reps, an appointment setter and a sales manager and go door to door asking people if they wanted a free carpet cleaning. Once inside the home, we were to demonstrate the Centuria vacuum (Kirby) and initiate a sale. Then the sales manager would take over and close the sale. For our efforts, we would be paid a cut of the profit three ways---between the sales manager, appointment setter and ourselves. Then at the end of the month we would be paid no less than $1675. What he didn't tell us was the many factors that would prevent us from reaching the 3 appointments per day minimum to get the base salary. This would include having to scheduele the demos only at certain times of the day and having to share our commission and the manager with two or three other "customer service reps'. As I was driving, I thought of a million questions that I needed answers to so I called the number back and it was disconnected!!! I had just called the same number about an hour in half before to set up the interview. I got suspicious and searched online and former employees have nothing good to say about this company. The whole thing is a scam---from the base salary to the vacuum cleaner itself!!! Consumers beware...
