We purchased a pre finished hardwood floor from pro source in 2004. After 6 months or so the color began to fade. We called Pro Source and they shot us down saying fade was not covered. It became so bad people began asking what was wrong with the floor coloring. So two and a half years later I found out the vendors name Steve Micklis (century flooring). He came out to our home, said there was a problem, and would forward the pictures to the factory.
Century said confirmed there was a problem and offered to sand and reccoat the floor. I was to get a bid, I did, and now they don’t want to pay. They are saying it is to much.
We have several other problems. One the sand and refinish man will nor guarantee the new finish because he is concerned there is something wrong with the wood that may cause this problem to occur again. Second the floors have a micro bevel and they will be sanded out, plus the floor has a aluminum oxide finish that will be sanded out.
The cost to refinish is $4800 plus two nights in a hotel (fumes) and the cost to replace is $5300. This has been going on for 8 months now and they just keep dragging their feet.
