Refusal to cash Payroll Check
Certegy Check Services refuses to allow Wal-Mart Check Cashing to Cash Legitimate PAYROLL checks from a MAJOR Company. Their "reason" per their customer service rep is "based on our computer model your payroll check bears the markers of a fraudulent or forged check and we cannot override the computer model." Now, this payroll check is generated by ADP for a world-side well known company, and Walmart/Certegy will NOT CASH IT? Further, who are these idiot computer programmers developing computer models that mark well known company payroll checks as fraudlent? Why don't the customer service reps at Certegy know who their president of the company is or even give you their complete name and managers name to reference in a complaint? This company needs to be PUT DOWN. They are a disservice to Wal-Mart and many other companies.

denied check
dont know what is going on with this check service but they need to get their act together. i have been using my checking account at several places and everywhere they are i get denied and i have about had enough . i am calling one more number and if no results. LOOKOUT!!

really bad service
What a waste, this company has declined so many checks ( good checks) its unreal. I cant believe Walmart actually deals with them. If you try to cash a check any where look out cause this scam is spreading fast.

Same old song...
Just as many others have stated, Certegy has failed to come through while trying to cash my Federal Return check from the IRS at a Wal-Mart store. Technically, several times! (Have been cashing my payroll checks at WalMart & just cashed my state return check there a couple weeks ago, by the way). Went in four nights ago to cash the check; "We cannot cash this check: reason 2." So I go home and call the number on the slip Walmart printed me, for Certegy. The automated number (as well as a double-check online) stated that the transaction is approved, and any subsequent attempts to cash it should work. Tried again tonight - I asked that the lady helping me try to run it through three times!--but to no avail.

I just hope somewhere else will be able to process it normally as the lady wrote my passport number on the front of the check, and scribbled over the date slightly for some reason.?. Shouldn't it be okay to cash at a bank still?

nonresponsive to complaint/inquiries
I won't take the time to detail my anger at having my check refused at Big Five Stores in Boise. I have a credit score average of 830, never had a check returned for insufficient funds, and at the time of the "refused check", I had a four figure balance in my checking account. I paid for my purchase with my Visa card then attempted to find a reason for the refusal. I phoned Certegy's toll free info number and got a recorded message saying "all representatives were helping other callers and to stay on the line". I waited and waited while other recorded messages reminded me that I would be helped by the next available person. I was determined to wait as long as it took. I put my cell phone on speaker and drove home. After a half hour and still no customer service person answered, I was home. I hung up the phone. If this is a "real" check verifying business they have no right to be this irresponsible without being held to account for their actions (or inactions). Irate in Idaho!

Declined Check
I tried to pay for two chairs that were being ordered at Boscov's furniture department. The check amounted to $580.00 being drawn from Hudson City Savings Bank, a large bank with a local branch. The chairs won't arrive for 6-8 weeks, so even if the check were bad, there's more than enough time to cancel the order. The sales person told me that there was not enough check writing history on the account. I didn't believe her becausse I doubt Certegy or anyone else would give that detailed of an explanation.

I know I have more than enough in the account, since I just deposited my Federal Income Tax Refund. Moreover, this is the second time this has happened with Certegy and this bank, although on a different account.

they suddenly denied my payroll
Every other week I get paid and cash it at Walmart. I suddenly got denied and handed a little slip of paper about this Certegy check services. This is after spending about an hour and a half shopping. I tried talking to certegy with the number on the little peice of paper only to hear someone asking personal info...like a fool...i answer his questions only to find out he has no answers and can't tell me why i was denied suddenly. He had a whole report of me being at Walmart cashing my check in the past. He had a very lame, "Sorry for the inconvenience". Nor did he seem to care or understand the embarrassment I experienced.
I can't help but to wonder why I was red flagged, since I don't do anything wrong to be red flagged. Maybe it is associated with the evil credit bureaus? Even if it was...it was a payroll check and well exceeded what i was purchasing. They have a data base of bussiness partners and I, personally, am avoiding all of them because of this horrible experience. They should not be able to get away with it. I am writing an angry letter and sending it to them, the known places that do business with them, the attorney general, and of course, my friendly local Walmart who I currently stopped doing business with do to this horrible humiliating experience. And anyone else I think of who should be aware of this practice.
They should not have this much control over people ecpecially since they totally are lousy at there judgements!

federal return check
Your company is falsely advertising that they are able to cash federal income tax returns! 90% of the checks brought in are unreadable due to no fault of the consumer. Are you (the company) trying to do anything to fix this very big screw up on your part? I suppose no because you appear to not care about the customer! (In my opinion) This is causing hardship on the low-income individual and also their family because we are now having to go to check cashing places (which I was told to do by one of your representatives) and they charge 3% which is a considerable amount of money. I am VERY UPSET WITH YOUR COMPANY!!!

Cashing Check at Walmart
This company has the most ABSURD methods of verifying checks ever. I attempted to cash my check at Wal-mart with two of my co-workers this afternoon. Both of them were able to cash checks for higher amounts than mine...3 times the cashier attempted to cash my check and I was denied. She gave me a slip and told me to call the number. Certegy gives me a recorded speech that makes NO sense as to why I was denied. Then they stated, that even though theres no logical reason as to why I was denied, the decision was final and I couldn't cash my check. WASTE OF TIME...Never going back to Wal-mart money services again. I wouldn't recommend to anyone either.

Declined Check
My daughter, who recently opened her first checking account as a teenager, had her second written check declined at Target. This is a terrible thing for a teenager to have experienced, it has made her feel like a a criminal. She had the money in her account to cover her purchase. When I called the phone number and talked to a rep, he said that it was because she had no history so they declined it. This seems to be a catch 22 situation, they won't let a check go through so of course she will never get history. He told me a ridiculous thing, have her go to the stores and give checks after so many declines they will approve her!!! HUH!!! How stupid is this!
Is this sort of thing legal????
