Can't Cash Unemployment Check At Wal-Mart
I don' t get the deal with Wal-Mart promising to cash check at Wal-Mart. I have attempted many of times to go to Wal-Mart to cash my state issued Unemployment check, and they can't. I call Certegy and they state that they can't cash it because of my check poses a 'risk'. A $380 check poses a 'risk'? How is that? I don't get how I can cash a $1300 financial aid (school) check but not a $380 unemployment check. Something needs to be donw about this issue! I can't afford to keep paying $10 somewhere else just to cash a $380 check...it's ridiculous!!

overpayment refund run-around
I wrote a check that bounced twice. I called Certegy, who was handling the check. They told me the check would not go through my bank a third time, so I wrote a 2nd check to them. They received and deposited it, and then the original check went through my bank! I have contacted them many times over the last 10 days to get it refunded and get a different story from every person I talk to. I have filed a complaint with our state Attorney General's office. It doesn't seem like it should be this much of a problem for them to just put the money back into my account, but they say they have to send it by mail. The moral of the story is, don't let a check bounce, but if it does and it goes to Certegy, don't send them a new check. They'll just keep running it through your account until it goes through.

Unfair actions
I went to Wal-mart to cash a payroll check and a 401k check. I have cashed many checks there without a problem. I was banking through Wells Fargo and would have brought them there, but I closed my account with them due to their actions they are taken and being sued for. I was denied to cash my check and not given any reason. Just told I can get a copy of my credit report and call Certegy. Even the manager said just get a copy of your credit report. What does my credit report have to do with anything, I didnt apply for anything or authorize Certegy to run my credit file information. I just wanted to cash two checks. I called Certegy, and did get through to somebody, who would not tell me anything and kept saying I am confused what is it you want. I explained for a 3rd time what I was calling about and she said sorry and hung up on me. What kind of answer is that?!? I had a check at Wal-mart bounce about a year ago, took it to court because it was a Wells Fargo error. There was money in the account and Wells Fargo shows it to this day as paid, but they never actually sent the funds. It was settled in my favor that I was not at fault and that I am cleared from the whole writing bad checks record as well. I dont know if this is what it is over, but it is not fair to take actions and make a ruling that goes over what the judge has already ruled upon. I would definately like to see a suit be brought against them. I had to go to a regular grocery store, and they were more than willing to cash and it was even cheaper through them than Wal-mart, I just planned on buying some items at Wal-mart. Instead I am done using them, even if paying in cash until they fix their problem they are causing with Certegy. Easter weekend and the store is packed and having a manager say get your credit report in front of all those people while I am in a professional uniform was just embarrassing. I have my credit report and I know that it is not on there. My family and fiance wont be using them anymore either until they get rid of Certegy nobody deserves such treatment.

False claim that my check was dishonored
During processing of my check to Cracker Barrel, Cracker Barrel's local bank processed the first two digits of routing number as a 2-8 instead of 2-9, so my check was never submitted to my bank for proper withdrawl of funds. Instead of checking into the matter, Cracker Barrel sent the check to Certegy to the Certegy Payment Recovery Services, Inc. for collections. Certegy has sent a threatening letter and made several "debt collection" calls, all threatening, in that I will never be able to open an accound nor cash a check unless I now pay them the orginal $20.67 plus their collection fee of $30.00 for a grand total of $50.67! I have sent them certified letters proving my innocence in this whole matter and went personally to Cracker Barrel's local bank and restaurant. Still waiting for the issue to be resolved!
My husband and I are getting the word out as best we can and are afraid to write a check, from an accound we have had since 1985! From now on, we use cash and no longer eat at Cracker Barrel -- we eat out a lot as both work long hours.

Declined Check
This is unreal to me! I tried to write a check at WalGreens and they said they could not take my check. They gave me a slip with a number to call for Certegy Check Services and they told me that since I wrote a check to Best Buy the day before for an unusual amount (in their minds) that I was not able to write my small check at WalGreens! They said they have that right to decline my check. They also told me that it could happen at any given time to any of the merchants they verify checks for!

They don't even verify funds or anything they just make up their minds and that is that! It seems odd to me that they are able to do this and that they don't question a rather large check and yet decline a small $25.00 check!!! Someone needs to investigate them bad!!!

FAILURE TO CASH CHECK
TRIED TO CASH A CITY OF STARKE CHECK AT WAL-MART. CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID THAT CERTEGY SAID NOT TO CASH IT. WHEN I CALLED, THE PERSON AT CERTEGY SAID THAT I FIT A PROFILE AND THAT THE DECISION WAS NOT REVERSABLE. WHEN I ASKED WHAT THE PROFILE WAS THE REP GOT AN ATTITUDE WITH ME AND WOULD NOT GIVE ME A ANSWER. I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT PROFILE I FIT. WALMART HAS A POLICY TO CASH ALL GOVERMENT CHECKS FOR 3 DOLLARS, ARE THEY DOING MISLEADING ADS JUST TO AQUIRE BUSINESS?

declined check priviledges
my check was declined for authorization by Certegy Check Services at the Walgreens in Antioch TN 11/29/2008. I was told that a report would be sent to me stating the reason why. After 2 calls to the customer care department at 866-543-6315, i finally received a vaugue response that since there was a gap of 4 checks that they could not identify to who the checks were written, they could not approve my transaction. I was also told that if I were to fill out an application, that my future check writing would be considered after they "processed" the application. I received a letter stating that I was declined the priviledges of writing checks and my checks would not be authorized for future purchases. "The information does not meet the applicable criteria required for enrollment at this time."
Is there anyone out there who is part of a class action against this firm?

Denied Check
I am writing this letter to inform you of how disturbed and displeased I am at the way that your company and its employees conducts’ business. On December 2, 2008, I wrote a check to Verizon Wireless located in Chattanooga, TN for the amount of $32.76. I understand the check was returned to you because of some error that either your company or Verizon Wireless made with the account number. Because of this error, not on my part, I have had my checking account placed in a non working status by every merchant that uses your services! Put yourself in my place for a moment. Go shopping, stand in long lines to pay for your merchandise, and when you finally get to the registers, you get embarrassed and humiliated when you are told that we can not accept your check! If I wanted to pay with some other form of payment I would have never presented my check as payment. This is all that your employees would say to me when I questioned them about what was happening to my account. The check to Verizon was not returned because of insufficient funds, but because of some other type of error, again, not on my part. The claim number for this problem is 28336369.

I have been humiliated and embarrassed this entire month of December. Now, once this problem was brought to my attention, I took care of my part! I immediately sent payment to your company. You received payment on December 19th, the check cleared my bank on December 23rd, and I am being told that this block on my account will not be cleared or removed until sometimes during the first two week of January 2009!! This is inexcusable and uncomprehensible. If you have the ability to block account immediately, you need to have the same ability to restore that account when the problem has been corrected. Again, this problem was not on my part!!

I have been writing check for over 35 years and I have never had a check returned because of insufficient fund or had my check denied by any merchant that accepts personal check as legal forms of tender until I had to have some dealing with your company!! I want you to know and be aware of how this ruined my Christmas shopping experience this season, and how it has caused me undue frustration, embarrassment, and humiliation.

I feel as though, I should pursue legal ramifications for all the unnecessary humiliation and embarrassment that Certegy has put me through! Now, with this Christmas season behind us, and ruin for me and my family, what proof do I have that Certegy has not placed negative, as well as, incorrect information in my credit file! You seemed to have a no problem ruining others financially while trying to conduct your business. Your customer service department was uncooperative during this entire escapade and showed no signs of concern or compassion for this situation! In fact, they were quite arrogant and unconcern about this problem! Again, THIS PROBLEM WAS NOT CAUSED BY ME!!

Please expedite the restoration of my checking account privileges, as well as send me documentation that there has been no negative impact on my credit report or credit rating because of this problem. Please work on ways of preventing this embarrassing and humiliating situation from happening to good people again in the future. No one should have to go through this because of errors made by others!
