Certegy Check Services Reviews

Denial of check
I went to the AT&T store with my son to purchase a cell phone and he was approved though AT&T for a phone plan. We went to write the check and was denied. I talked with people from this company and the first person disconnected me after telling me that we have an insuffient check writing profile. When I got to talk to the second person after calling back they told me that the store had recently had some fradulent activity and that there was nothing wrong with my account and it was a problem with the store. I was also told that even though we had the money the manager couldn't override the denial but we could return to the store tomorrow to see if the check would be approved. I finally got tired of hearing about different ways to solve this problem of being denied is by filing out some paperwork that they are going to be sending and sending it back to them that we'll never be denied like this again.

To say the least this company does not impress me and even less after reading what others have said about them. There has to be something that can be done about such a company I can picture this company making alot of people feel bad and like crap because of being denied whether they have money or not.

Declined check
On August 22, 2008 I tried to use one of my business checks at Hobby Lobby. I was shocked to find out it was declined.. What?
I was handed a little white paper with a phone number to Certegy on it. When I called and talked to "Karen" I was told that I had no negative check writing history on file (no kidding) but that they had authorized acceptance of one or more checks accociated with my identifying numbers. Wow, someone who writes checks for there business purchases, imagine that...
I asked'Karen" to send me a letter with this information on it. She did, and in the letter they offered me "preferred" status if I filled out an application with additional financial information on it. Like I'm going to give these people ANY of my private financial information. This is just WRONG!! There has to be something we can do about this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Heather

Ps. I too had more than enough money in my account to cover the $75.00 check.

Denied check cashing
I have been cashing my payroll checks from the same company for almost a year at my local Wal-Mart. I started working every other Saturday, and now the so called 'fraud prevention department' is declining my P/R checks because the extra $75 is an 'abnormal discrepancy', or at the very least that's my best guess based upon their vague reasoning. Twice in a row now, with the same excuse, "We can't override the rejection, our fraud department won't let us. Cash your check somewhere else." And so I did, not without complaining to Wal-Marts' money center, which was a complete waste of time. Talked to some overseas person that could barely speak English, and was reading from a script. Horrible service all the way around.

They give bad information
I attempted to pay for a purchase at K-Mart and my check was denied due to a report given by Certegy Check Services to K-Mart. At the time of the transaction, there was no information about the denial, although the clerk said it was usually due to insufficient funds. This made me feel like something was wrong with my bank account, when if fact there were plenty of funds. I wound up using my debit card from the same account, but would have preferred the security of a check.

Upon calling Certegy, I only got an automated system which told me there was no negative information about me, but my check-writing patterns were suspicious and that was why I was denied. I don't write a lot of checks for retail purchases, but I would like the option to do so and with poor information being provided to retailers from Certegy, I am not able to.

Payroll check denied
Today is the second time in 2 months i have had Certegy tell Walmart to deny cashing my check. Let me break this down in steps. Step 1. I was in line with 4 other co-workers and we all had payroll checks to cash, i was the 4th out of 5 ppl. Step 2. They had their check cashed...i did not. Step 3. Walmart gives me the happy little number that i called last time and i call it. The "machine" says the same thing it said last time, "Your check wasn't denied due to any type of fraudulent activity it was denied as a Fraud Preventative." WTH does that even mean???? my check was different than anyone elses i had my ID and put in my social(the works) and they deny my check after cashing the past 2 and denying the one before those for the exact same reason. The only reason i cash my check at Walmart is because i get paid at midnight on friday and my bank isnt in the town that i go to college and work at. Ive been cashing the same checks their for 7 months now. Worst part is this has happened to some of my co-workers as well. These Certegy douschebags need to go. Worst part is the machine said it will relay to the merchant that i called or something like that. but just like last time i bet i won't be able to cash my check there still for the next 5 days.

Check denial
I wrote a check and it was denied. Last week I used my check card and it went through. I tried calling the company and was put on hold for 45 minutes. When I was finally spoken to I got the run around. They couldn't tell me why it was denied. I went to there web site and found several complaints on their company. I don't know why companies are using them. They are loosing all kinds of money.

Identity fraud
The first time I heard about Certegy was when they were calling me about a bounced check to a company called Wild West--apparently a web hosting company. I'd never heard of either of them. I told them, it's not my debt, I've never heard of you or them. Also the check was trying to come out of an account I had closed over a year prior. They told me to fill out an affidavit of Forgery, I did. They sent me an apology. I think it was about two years ago now. Now they're calling me again. I've got to fill out another affidavit because apparently they've lost the first one.

I just want them to go away and leave me alone and stop risking my credit!

Poor customer service
My husband travels. He occasionally writes a check from his check book. He obviously has a different check book than I do. We can't share the same set of checks when we are not in the same town. We happened to be together today shopping at Walgreens. I wrote a check to pay for our purchase which was declined. I stood at the register and called Certegy because I have funds in my account and have never bounced a check. I could not for the life of me imagine why my check was declined. It was because my husband wrote a check from his book earlier this week and our checks were out of sequence. Have you ever grabbed the wrong check book - not to mention couples who may operate out of two check books. This ques the Certegy system to decline your check. Although my husband was with me, we had both check books with both sequences with us, we both had multiple forms of ID, we have very high check numbers from an account that has been open for over 20 years and we had a deposit slip showing funds of over $5000 available as of yesterday - there was no exception to the rule. Centergy refused to make any kind of exception. They also informed me that if either of us attempted to write a check at ANY store in the Centergy system, it would be declined for the next three days. I discussed this with the manager of Walgreens and he is at the mercy of the Centergy system. I have worked in the collection and check recovery business for over twenty years. I helped develop and impliment an electronic check solution. Our solution allowed our client to use the system to alert them of red flags but also to make sure they could provide good customer service in a case like mine. My entire family uses Walgreens for prescriptions, personal items and household items. We may spend an average of $500 per month, easily. I will opt NOT to shop at Walgreens and I will attempt to find a non-Centergy contracted store to make my purchases, even if I have to pay more at a local, family owned, pharmacy in my area. This system bullies consumers. Stores that buy in to the philosephy that the need that kind of service to protect themselves are foolish. There is another pharmacy down the street from almost every Walgreens in the United States. When you are in a competitive market like that, you need to think just as much about customer service as protecting yourself from fraud.

check denial
This is a horrible company. They refuse or red flag checks for no reason. They refuse to explain what is going on. Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, Target, Walgreens, Restoration Hardware all use this company.

What an embarrassment.

Payroll check denied!
I have tried twice with my payroll check. The first time they said that my payroll check "could" be put in a category that could be used in identify theft. This time they said that they don't have proper information on my company. Two months ago they cashed the payroll check. These people need to go out of business.
