Checks from both our joint account and my wifes account were rejected by Certegy. The code for the rejection read Although no unpaid check information is on file, Certegy did not have sufficient information available to approve the transaction, or this transaction exceeded a pre-established limit. Both accounts had sufficient funds and it caused us to waste an hour having to go to the bank to obtain cash to pay for the body repair of her car.

I cashed 2 little $5.00 checks which wal-mart kept 6 dollars of it the checks were from the health dept to get my meds with then when i went to cash my social security check it was declined go figure then they proceded to tell me for 2 reasons you guys wouldn t cash it hummmm whats up with this? We went to HEB last evening so that my 73 year old mom could cash her Social Security check, something she has done every month for the last few years. After waiting in the long line, (it was after 6pm already) she gets to the counter, goes thru the process, to be told that Certegy would not authorize them to cash her check!!! I called the number on the little printout for Certegy from my cell phone while still standing in the store. After giving the operator the information, she proceeds to tell me that there is no derogatory information against my mom, but while running the check thru their system, it pinged on some identity theft security points. I asked what points could that possibly be, and she proceeded to read off her pre-written script, "I'm sorry ma'am, but that is proprietary blah blah blah..." Then she told me that she could see I was calling her from Walmart...(see above, still in HEB on cell phone), and that I could find somewhere else to try to cash the check. When I finally got a "supervisor, Lowell, on the phone, he started telling me he understood what a hardship this was...blah, blah, blah, but that we wouldn't be able to cash the check this month anywhere that used his company. What a bunch of BS!!! I was soooooo happy when the retailer I work for fired Certegy and went back to Telechek!!!

I visited Ann Taylor at West Town Mall in Madison, WI on Saturday, March 20, 2010. As I forgot to bring my check card with me I wrote a check, showed my drive license and the cashier punched it in to verify... the check was denied. She called her lead worker and she tried a few times and still didn't work. I told her that I just wrote a check 15 minutes ago at Boston Store next door and didn't have any problem. She called Certegy and listened to the record but couldn't really tell me why my check was denied. She gave me a card from Certegy and told me to call.

It was embarrassing with the line forming behind and everyone can hear that my check was denied. I was angry, upset and humiliated as I never ever written a bad check and I never had any problem with my check.

I called Certegy the following Monday at 1-800-237-4851 and their automatic system said it was because my check didn't meet certain criteria of their risk measurement...it can't be overridden...

Then it asked me if I want to receive a letter of explanation and I said yes. It asked me to spell my last name and I repeated five times and it still didn't get it--I only have 3 letters in my last name, how difficulty is that? I have had enough of the very poor services of Certegy. I don't understand why those stores are using this stupid company--Certegy is not protecting you, it is hurting your customers and your business as we are not returning to your store to be humiliated.

We attempted to purchase music equipment at Sam Goody and was told our check was declined by Certegy. I called Certegy and got no where. I was told our check was declined due to a potential fraud, even though the supervisor, Joe?, stated he could see numerous checks from out account that had been cashed in the past. All I got was embarassment and fustration - no real explanation as to why the check was declined. Always a "computer decision" but no real answer. Certegy has POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE - too bad so many merchants use it. Be careful were you shop!
