Declined check
This Certegy company must be stopped. I wrote a check at Big Lots today and was shocked to hear that it was denied. I normally use my debit card but didn't have it that day. I've never written a bad check in my life. And this, after the store clerk announced all my personal information over the telephone trying to get a live person herself. Even she was frustrated. I left that store embarrassed and absolutely livid. I called their toll free number and was so frustrated by the run-around, and the "canned" answer to my inquiry as to why my check was denied. I never could speak to a live person, and they ended up disconnecting me after their incompetence at trying to hear the spelling of my first name 5 times!! By now I was incensed! I then tried to find the Certegy web-site and discovered this Complaints Board with so many similar stories from other people. That fueled my anger with this company even more that I want to do something about it so that I do not have a repeat episode and others may be spared. What do we do????

Declined checks
I shop at Walmart at least once a day and sometimes twice a day. Every time I shop at Walmart, I write checks. I ventured out of my norm & decided to shop at Target. On October 28, 2009 I wrote a check for $158 and some change & my check was declined by Certegy. I was extremely embarrassed & used my debit card (obviously the funds were there). On October 30, 2009 I decided to try Target again (mainly because I was puzzled, could never get someone on the phone to talk to at Certegy & because of the great deals) and wrote a check for $100.14 which was accepted. On November 1, 2009 I shopped at Target again for some after Halloween sales and wrote a check for $26.54 which was declined! I again used my debit card (because again, the funds were there). I will also be filing a complaint with Target & after being embarrassed twice at their facility, I will no longer shop at Target and stick with Walmart.

Declined check
I went to the Target in Canton and paid with my Target check card. The card was declined and I was asked if I wanted to use some other form of payment. I would not have a Target check card if I wanted to use another form of payment. I left the stuff and called Certegy. I was told that they have me linked to two closed bank accounts - neither of those bank accounts were the account that is used by the Target check card and neither is a bank I have ever done business with. I notified Target since this happened before that I will not be shopping at their store if they cannot use better check services. I have never had problems with a check other than Target.

declined check
I tried to write a $30 check for gas when I was informed by a Murphy's emplyee that centerdy declined my check. I have plenty of money in my bank account and I demand that you fixthis problem asap! i've been holding on your telephone line for over an hour while
accessing tour website. I am about to leave to go back to murphy's to write another check and it had better go through this time. You people are rude and you play with people's lives like they are toys! I am going to join the mant lawsuits against you.

DECLINED CHECK
I HAD BRAKE WORK DONE ON MY 2000 FORD TARAUS THAT COST $217.35 . DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS BAD SO I HAD THEM DO THE WORK. LATER TO FIND OUT THAT THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT MY CHECK DUE TO CERTEGY CHECK SERVICES NOT HAVING INFORMATION ON FILE. WHEN THE HAMMONTON DEALERSHIP WAS OPENED I TOOK ALL 3 OF MY CARS THERE AND SPENT WELL OVER 300 DOLLARS AT TIMES AND WROTE CHECKS WITH NO PROBLEM NOW THAT I AM FORCED TO GO TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER BECAUSE I LIKE FORDS I GET THIS CRAP. MY DAUGHTER HAD TO USE HER CC TO PAY FOR THE VEHICLE WHICH MADE HER NOW GO OVER HER CARD LIMIT AND GET CHARGED EVEN MORE MONEY. I AM VERY UPSET THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING BACK TO THE EGG HARBOR TWP DEALER AGAIN.

denial of good check
This morning I was told by a clerk at the Gabriel Brothers company in N. Canton, Oh. that my check for some furniture was denied by my bank. After 30 minutes of getting the runaround in the checkout line from the clerk and the manager I stormed out of the store and went straight to my bank with the full intention of closing my account of 33 years. At the bank I was informed that they had not denied payment on the check and that Gabriel Bros. uses a service called certegy. When I called this certegy, I was questioned by a computer and was assured by this computer that the next available representative will assist you. Twenty minutes later I was still waiting and ticking off valuable daytime minutes. From time to time I could even hear someone breathing on the other end of the fone. This is a horrible company and I intend to boycott every company who uses them.

on-line purchase decline
We have a continuing on-line deduction from our checking account for Go Daddy. com and has been on going for over a year now. All of a sudden the monthly deduction from our account has been declined as Certegy feels it is a fradulent claim. I spoke to Certegy in person and said monthly payments are still being declined. Now Certegy wants my company to fill out an application and send a voided check. There is information on the application I do not feel Certegy should have access to and I refuse to do so. I hope other businesses are paying attention and quit using this flawed service.

Declined Checks
I have written 3 checks in the past month, the 1st one in August - declined, 2nd one on Sept. 4, 2009 both written at Finish Line. After the 2nd check I asked for the company that declined it phone number. I called and spoke to one of Certegy's Representative - Joyce on 9/11/09 @ 3:37pm. When I explained my situation and gave her the informatioin to look up in the system, she found that there was no history of outstanding checks, NSF checks, or anything that would be a problem. She said that these checks are done randomly and that some of the numbers on your check matched other numbers for possible fraudulant check writting. I asked her if nothing was found under my name then why are my checks being declined, she said that this is just random. I then explained to her that if I write another check that is declined I will be calling back and that Certegy has purposely put my information in the system to decline. She explained that is not how it works. It just happened on 9/14/09 me and my husband went to AJ Wright, a store that we always shop at and write checks, never had a problem with writing a check prior to this day. And when I asked the sales associate the reason she gave me a piece of paper with a number to contact and WHO KNEW it had CERTEGY on it to contact. This right here is ***BS*** and do not understand this companies way of processing or randomly checking the checks and what right they have to stop someone from writing a check that has never had a problem with writing one to both these companies. I feel like if a few of us get together for an action lawsuit we could win. Certegy is an unfair company that thinks they can do what they want and get away with it. I will file an official complaint to whomever I need to get some type of attention. A very angry consumer

Refusal to approve check
Had a new timing belt and fan belt installed on Toyota Tundra on 8/18/09. I gave them a check for the total amount but when they attempted to process it through Certegy, it was refused. An employee of the parts department came to my rescue since I had purchased a house and six acres of land from him and paid with a check. He told the accounting department to cash the check, and they reluceantly followed his instructions. If he had not done that, we would have had to use a credit card. We are retired people who write very few checks except to pay routine monthly bills. It is obvious that Certegy did not consult with either of the banks we use before refusing to approve the check.

I would be interested in joining a class action law suit against Certegy.

Declined payroll check
I was doing my school clothes shopping with my kids, to be followed by grocery shopping, all at Wal-Mart. I shop in this store weekly, sometimes more. We spent more than 2 hours shopping, and decided to pay for the clothes and shoes, and take them to the car, so we could shop for groceries with an empty cart. My total was nearly $300. I presented my payroll check, and my driver's license. The cashier had to key in several things about me, such as my ID# and DOB. Then it asked for alternative names, and although I had been married for 12 years, she keyed in my maiden name. The register declined my check. She re-entered all of the info, and of course, again it was declined. I received the generic "call this number to find out..." speech, and with great embarrassment (and my children's dismay) left my purchases behind. I called when I got home, and was told by Certegy that there was no problem with the check, and no problem with my information. There were just some "guide lines" that I had not met, and they were protecting ME & Wal-Mart from fraud. Ridiculous! Talk about a NON ANSWER. I am still fuming 5 hours later...
