Chakra is centered in Bergen County, NJ, and as such, charges New York prices. We were told to make reservations about 4 weeks in advance for this high end establishment. I made reservations for 7 people about a month in advance, for 7pm. Upon our arrival, we were told our table was not ready. We waited 35 mins for a table.

Once we were all seated, we ordered drinks - 45 mins later, they still hadn't arrived and no one came by to check our table. Finally, our drinks came - but only half of them. We quickly ordered an appetizer, which came out in about 15 mins, but sat on our table after we finished it for another 15 mins. At this point, our appetizer was cleared and we ordered our meal. We were offered no apology for the extensive delay and lack of efficient service.

One guest in our party had planned to be home by 9:30 (which would make sense since we had a 7pm reservation), and had to leave before getting her meal because it was so late. We complained to the manager who offered us a free round of drinks, but still the service was no better.

We finally got our meals and left by 9:30. The inexcusable service allowed us only one appetizer, one round of drinks and no dessert due to how late it had become. I felt that an apology was in order from the waitress and the manager certainly could have done more to serve our table.
