I own a 2001 Champion Modular Home in Macomb, Michigan. I purchased the home in July of 2008. Over the winter I was having problems with shingles coming off of the roof. I had a roofer (actually a neighbor) come out and replace shingles on the home at least three (3) times. He told me the first time he went up there that I needed a new roof, that the shingles had been put on the home with staples, and that they were not the proper staples. In early Spring I noticed a spot on my ceiling that was not there before & had someone come out. He came over and agreed that I had a leak and went on the roof to repair it. In the last week or so, in Michigan, we have had alot of rain. Last Thursday, June 18th, we had a long day of rain & I had water coming into the house again. This time it was coming from a light in my foyer. Once again, my roof is leaking. Right now, I have a large tarp on my roof to keep the water out and I am in the process of receiving quotes for a new roof because it absolutly has to be replaced. My home is only eight (8) years old and it should not need a new roof. I called Allstate Insurance Company to see if I could claim it on my homeowners insurance. After reviewing my file, they said that "no, your home is only eight (8) years old and should not need a new roof." They will only cover damage to the inside of my home due to water damage. They told me that I should not need a new one at this time and I needed to contact the Manufacturer of my home. Needless to say, I am very upset about this situation and would like to inqure on how I can file a claim with Champion.
