My wife and I purchased this vehicle on the evening of12/23/2010. This vehicle was advertised on Chamopions web site as Toyota Certified. The sales manager and salesman both assured me that this vehicle was Toyota Certified. After purchasing the vehicle and driving it at varied speed and road conditions, and inspecting the vehicle in natural lighting conditions, it was clear that this vehicle did not meet the standards set forth per the Toyota Certification process, and had never been Certified. The defects included the following: oil cap missing and latex glove tied to oil cap. Large rock chip in windshield. Transmission shifting erratically. No Master Key, Valet key only. Suspension noisy, worn out shocks, struts. Seats dirty, Cigarette burn on drivers door panel, alignment off. After contacting the Used Car Sales Manager, I was contacted by the Service Director who advised me to return the vehicle for repairs and that he would personally oversee that the vehicle was given a Re-inspection.
No explanation given for why this vehicle was sold in this substandard condition and the listed items were not addressed prior to sale. I was not offered a rental vehicle and repairs took 3 days. After picking up the vehicle, $2500.00 dollars worth of repairs later the vehicle appeared to be in much better condition but the alignment was still off and there was a rattle.
I personally inspected the vehicle and discovered that the front bumper support was not attached to the frame with any nuts, six were missing. At this point, I contacted the Used Car Manager again, and he emailed me stating that a customer service rep. would contact me. I was contacted by the rep. and explained to her that I was not satisfied with the vehicle. I stated that I had been sold nothing more than an AS-IS used truck that this dealership had fraudulently misrepresented as Toyota Certified. When asked what it would take to make me happy with the vehicle, I responded that I needed to be reimbursed the additional amount I paid for a Certified Vehicle over what I received which was an AS-IS used vehicle. The rep. said she spoke with the General Manager, and that he refused to refund any of the money I was fraudulently cheated out of. And that the only option for me was to bring the vehicle in again for additional repair. I advised her that this was not acceptable due to the dishonesty and incompetence already displayed by this dealer.
Following his conversation, I
proceeded to contact Toyota customer Service ` 01/18/2011, and I was advised after I made two complaintst that the claim would be elevated. I subsequently received a niother call from the Champion customer service rep. She advised me that she had spoken with Toyota customer service, and that after talking to the General Manager, he was willing to have me find another vehicle and return the one I had purchased.
