On 6/7/10 I ordered a replacement thermostat for my Charbroil electric Patio Grill. I used it about 3 times and last night it just stopped. I called customer service and was told that when I ordered the thermostat I had to also order a replacement heating element or it would short the thermostat out--which it did. They said they had known about this issue from '09 but it was not noted anywhere on their web site when ordering the part. Had I known that I needed to order both parts I would not have ordered the thermostat in that the cost of both is a few dollars less than a brand new unit and thus I would have just gotten a new unit. They will not return my $60 for the shorted thermostat because it is 20 days beyond the 30day "warranty" period. They also said I should have called and talked to someone before I ordered the part on line and I therefore suggest everyone call them about anything before doing anything which will give their call center what they wanted. This is wrong!
