On 7 November 2008 I authorized a one-time fee via MegaUpload to download a utility application.

This one-time charge on my VISA debit card not was not to exceed $8.00 [see transaction history below].

I canceled my account on 9 November 2008.

It looks like debits originate from a single merchant located in the UK dba as three separate online entities.

The same merchant billed my checking account again on 11 November 2008 [a U.S. holiday; banks closed]. I'm guessing the individual charges constitute some type of recurring fee scheduled to hit on the 10th day of each month.

I did not enter into, nor click "I Agree" to, any TOS that would permit recurring charges. He canceled service usage within 2 days of initial transaction. The additional transactions posted on 11/11/08 which is a US holiday.

The toll-free numbers provided by chargepatrol.com aka supportbeast.com aka supportopolis.com are all disconnected. IP host tracing was also unsuccessful.

My credit union canceled my card 10 December 2008 in order to cease additional charges from this scam online service. They hit me one more time before the card number was terminated. It took two weeks to get a new card issued. This inconvenience substantially interfered with my holiday shopping.

I am reporting the unauthorized transactions to the California Attorney-General's office as well as the UK OFT.

I am on a student budget so, of course, I incurred overdraft fees for each unauthorized charge.

Anyone who has something to add re: this online scam artist, a class-action suit is plausible.
