One of the Worst Banks
I have never really had an issue with chase bank, until now. My husband and I went and deposited his paycheck yesterday, all $1200 of it, we were told funds would be available today, but we wouldn't be allowed any cash back because of the account being overdrawn. We asked them why it was overdrawn and they told us because of a debit card transaction from a week prior. We are not supposed to be able to use the debit card if there are not suffecient funds in the account, but they let it go thru anyway. Today we go to the bank to close the stupid account, and find out now we are overdrawn 700.00 WTF, not happening. they can't tell us why, and say that there are no funds available at least until next week out of his check, and at that point there will be the remainder after the 700. we tell them that there is NO reason whatsoever for it to of went from 10.00 negative to 700 overnight especially when we made a freaking deposit and took no cash back because we couldn't. We don't write checks, and only use the debit card when there are funds in the account.
They are being no help and can't tell us if that 700 will be put back into the account, or why the funds are not available or even for sue when it will be.
this bank has gotten worse and worse over the years, and they are all rude, and stupid people. Oh and to top it off, they cancelled our debit card to for some reason, and can't seem to figure out why they did it and all they can say is to call their fraud dept to find out why, and when we do we get put on hold and then transfered and transfered and transfered without talking to anyone who can or will give any answers

Bad business practice!
In September 2009 I made an on-line purchase using my bank debit card. Shortly after that, two unauthorized charges were made on my bank card ($79.95 & $2.38), which resulted in three overdraft charges of $33.00 each! I notified my bank and filed a report. But while in the process of taking care of it, my bank (Washington Mutual) was bought out by Chase Bank, and even though I submitted all my documentation to them over and over and over again - Chase Bank has FAILED to reimburse the unauthorized charges and has REFUSED to reverse the o/d charges! CHASE BANK HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM!! The Florida State Attorney General's Office got involved about six months ago, but a year has gone by since I was ripped off by the scam company HEALTHCLNS/CLEANWHITES and Chase Bank STILL has done nothing! Can someone tell me how I can get Chase Bank to take care of this??

Credt Card
Well we have been a long time credit card holder through Circuit City. Well when they went out of business Chase Bank took over their accounts. We recently got our tax return and paid half of the card off (Yeah it was almost maxed out). Well almost immedietely my credit limit was cut in half keeping me at my max so they can report it to the credit agencies that I am maxed out once again. Well after speaking with them I decided to close the account and make minimun payments until the card was paid off. Well then they come up with some 3 year same as cash deal that had expired and so I had to come up with $1, 200 by the next payment or I would be late and therfore have a negative remark on my credit. So basically they lowered my credit limit, charged be some made up fee, and then charged me an additional fee because them lowering my credit line put me over my credit limit. Seriously? CHASE BANKS IS A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS! PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE SCREWING THIER CUSTOMERS RIGHT AND LEFT BECAUSE THEY MAKE UP RULES STATING THEY CAN. SCREW CHASE BANK, BECAUSE THEY SCREW US!

$6.00 Fee for Bank Statement
Chase Bank stopped mailing out my monthly bank account statement due to inactivity. When I went to the Chase Bank located at Totem Lake Way in Kirkland, WA to get a copy of my statement I was not told that my account would be charged $6.00 without my authorization. I find this unethical and a deceptive way to generate fees without providing any true banking service.

Chase "Giving" on Facebook
Charities Cry Foul on Chase Bank
Charities across the country are crying foul, as JP Morgan Chase Bank concludes its second annual $5M “Give Away” contest on Facebook, where participants were invited to vote for their favorite charities to win award money ranging from $20, 000-$250, 000. A significant number of charities that provide services ranging from arts education to autism advocacy and global outreach in support of human rights and eradicating poverty are now claiming that the contest rules were not transparent, and were suspiciously changed in the final stretch of the game, with apparent deference given by Chase to charities that are already well-endowed or that did not engage eligible Facebook users outside of the United States to vote.
“Official” contest rules published by Chase do not appear to have explicitly prohibited individuals from joining Facebook for the purpose of voting, yet thousands of new Facebook user votes were disqualified by Chase for this reason more than three weeks into the competition, with mere hours to go before the final votes were tallied.
A Chase bank representative from NY, on why thousands of votes were revoked from various Top 200 charities poised to win $20, 000 is quoted by one charity as retorting: "Our methods of determining which votes are proper or eligible are private and confidential. If we released this information, then all of the nonprofits would know [and understand] how we determine what is eligible."
Complaints from charities include the sudden removal of hundreds of votes by Chase during nightly “system” updates conducted at 3:00 a.m.; the receipt of automated disqualification emails by charities who had reached the top 200 ranks after arduous weeks of what they perceived to be fair participation in good faith; economic discrimination against participants who used public libraries or internet cafes to place their votes because they may not have had the means to afford a personal home computer; and promises allegedly made by Chase to provide the impacted charities with supporting documentation and understandable rationales that have not materialized as of the date of this publication.
“We received a telephone call a few days before the end of the competition, which at first we assumed to be a congratulatory call from Chase Bank. Instead, we were informed that Chase had identified a vague problem with security issues that was affecting many charities, that they were trying to “get to the bottom of it”, and we were informed that 321 hard-earned votes would be deleted from our rankings that night, ” states Richard Jones, a volunteer for the Dreaming Zebra Foundation, a Portland charity bringing art and music to underprivileged youth. “In response to our obvious confusion and protestations, Chase promised to further evaluate the situation and provide us with a clear explanation, but they never did. Instead they did it again two days later, altogether deleting over 800 votes without telling us precisely why. Our further attempts to reach Chase have been ignored. We don’t doubt that in a contest like this, that there is going to be a certain level of improper behavior, and we are glad to accept the outcome if Chase can prove that the rules were somehow violated, but to make up the rules as you go along is wrong, and to not exhibit an understanding of the time and labor involved for charities to successfully compete in the contest, and to delete our supporter’s votes without telling us why leaves a really questionable impression of the integrity of the contest overall. All we’re asking for is a reasonable explanation.”
A Facebook page has been created by a group called Charities Chasing Justice, and contest participants are invited to join to share their stories and experiences. In the event that the Facebook group is taken down, as organizers fear, by the “powers that be”, a representative for the group says that they will simply create a website instead in what they are calling the “pursuit of charitable justice”.

Loan Modification
I've had a whole lot of issues with Chase over a modification request that was denied and extremely rude representatives. You name it, I experienced it. I applied in January and just got the denial letter today 7/12 and every time I called for an update or explanation, I was on the phone for a minimum of 1 1/2 hours. When they get tired of you, they transfer you to a number that's out of service so you have to call back and start over. I mailed several complaint letters to the corporate office in New York and I've received phone calls and letters from the corporate office apologizing, but they still didn't approve the loan modification.I can prove financial hardship, but I have equity in my home so they were pushing me to refinance for 30 years instead of approving the modification. I should be back on my feet in 6 months so to refinance for 30 years over 6 months seemed extreme to me. It seems to me they were pushing for a refinance so they could make a lot more $ off my loan in the long run. When I said that to a representative his reply was "Why do you care if Chase makes more money off your loan? You get to keep your house, that's all you should be concerned with." I only had 9 years left to pay so I would be adding 21 years to my loan. They also flagged my account as if it was 90 days past due even though it was only 2 weeks past due. I asked why they did that and it's standard procedure if you apply for a loan mod. They also took away my ability to pay online so I was forced to call in my payment and they were really rude when I called in, asking me 5 different times if I still lived in my home and if it was in good condition. I finally got tired of dealing with them so I decided to go ahead and refinance for 15 years, but with another company so as of Aug 1, I will no longer be a Chase customer and I could not be happier. Here are the names of two people who have contacted me from corp Darryll Johnson 888-310-7995 ext 1630 and Ashley Hall 614-422-3293.

On Line Banking
Chase On Line Banking system has a processing PROBLEM. I have regularly used ONLINE banking since 2007. The WAMU system has successfully processed payments and the Chase system has not. On July 2nd, 2010, I authorized 6 online payments on at 10:42 am. Chase reauthorized the same payments again at 10:47am. Chase deducted the payments from my account twice, once at 10:42 and again at 10:47, Funny, I only authorized payment once. After a pointless conversation with the Chase ONLINE Banking Customer Service department, I was told it was my problem. Gloria's words were "Something Happened", and "We don't know what happened.".
I asked if it could happen again? Gloris stated again " this service is yours to use free of charge, you are responsible for the transactions processed". Comforting? No I think not. I shall be closing my accounts immediately. Good Luck to Chase...

Ridiculous Hidden Fees
I opened a Chase checking account for no purpose other than it was convenient to where I worked. While still in the process of opening it, I made sure to ask if there were fees to make account transfers, and how quickly on average their online banking was updated. I was told there were zero fees for account transfers, and that the online banking updates instantly. Regardless of that, I chose to keep my own written records, just in case. I transfered funds into another bank account I already had. For some unknown reason, this took over a week to do. Then Chase charged me for it, which overdrew my account, which I also got charged for. I went to the bank to speak to cash a money order my parents had sent me for Christmas, they told me it was uncashable, and that my only option was to deposit it. This was before I had even mentioned I had an account. So, I got to use my Christmas money to pay for their issues. What little of it was left, they charged me an annual fee for a program I never signed up for, never got any information for. I eventually got them to reverse all of the charges, besides the annual debit card fee. Well, now they've done it again. I spent my fourth of July shopping to my heart's content, being ever so cautious about what I was spending. I came home several times in my trip to compare my numbers to my online banking numbers, and they matched up. So today, when I get online and see that the money that I had left in my account had somehow disappeared without any additional transactions and I had been charged three overdraft fees of thirty-four dollars each, it is pretty safe to say that I will be switching banks. I felt especially ridiculous when my fiancé was triple charged for something, they would not fix it, and charged him overdraft fee after overdraft fee. This was after they would not refund him yet another double payment because they didn't have proof it existed, even though it was right there in his transaction history, yet I stayed with the bank. Chase bank is a real nightmare. Avoid it at all costs.

Scam
I did a money transfer at Tuesday to cover Tuesday charges, Chase posted my transfer at Wednesday 12am.. so I got an overdraft. I spoke to their customer service and they can't do anything since my transfer "happened" after the charges. What a great system! You still get overdraft no matter what!
