Chase seems to be lagging behind in technological capabilities
I am irritated and disappointed with Chase's lack of adherence to its own advertisement of a smooth transition from WAMU accounts to Chase. Advertisement followed to say that log in info would remain the same. Unfortunately that is not so. I am forced to create new log in info. I am tired of changing passwords that I forget and want to keep my old login info as was promised with the transition from Wamu to Chase. Not only is this false advertisement, but Chase seems to be lagging behind in technological capabilities. From inability to change card designs to allow for differentiation of cards (from the recently acquired accounts/banks) to forcing customers to create new log in info and lack of smooth transitioning.
I don't have time for this and am tired of creating so many log ins. Shouldn't this be simpler and easier for the user/customer?

Poor Service
4/26/10
I have had a checking account at Chase for more than a year and my complaint relates to POOR ADVERTISING and FEES CHARGED. I opened an account at Chase since an ad specified NO OVERDRAFT FEES and GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was charged overdraft fees EVERY MONTH. Overdraft fees amounted to $35 per check and some months OVER $350 was deducted from my account. When I called Chase I was told that the check which was deposited DID NOT HAVE TIME TO CLEAR. The check was from US Life Disability and is MY ONLY INCOME SINCE I AM DISABLED. In addition to that, I have an account at Greenwich Bank & Trust for my Social Security disability and when I've tried to transfer money from Greenwich to Chase I'm told to ADD ANOTHER BANK. I've added Greenwich Bank & Trust MULTIPLE times and I'm STILL not allowed to transfer online. I've called Greenwich Bank & Trust and the only way I've been able to transfer money has been to WRITE A CHECK FROM MY GREENWICH BANK AND MAIL IT TO CHASE. I've done that MORE THAN ONCE and it's NOT CONVENIENT. I'm on a LIMITED INCOME and I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO SPEND ON STAMPS.

Cant make the customer feel like their money matters and that they are valued
What's with all the fees on overdraft and all the ways you try and get more money from me. Why cant you make the customer feel like their money matters and that they are valued.

Chased away by Chase
I just returned home from closing my Chase checking account, as well as two CDs worth 25k that had not yet matured. I took the penalty because I couldn't stand doing business with this bank one minute more than necessary. I was originally a WAMU customer who enjoyed the privileges of banking with them for years. When WAMU was taken over by Chase I figured I would give Chase a chance, figuring they couldn't be too different. Boy was I wrong!!! When my renters bounced a $200 check my account became insufficient, I immediately deposited $270 IN CASH to cover the negative balance. However, according to Chase since I deposited this after banking hours (I couldn’t leave work) the funds weren't considered available and I was therefore responsible for the $210.00 in overdraft fees. This seems to be a common complaint as it pertains to Chase, so it’s obvious they make a lot of money doing this sort of thing to hard working folks. Frankly, I can not think of another way to describe it other than legalized extortion. The only reason why I gave them half a star was because the branch manager who helped me had great customer service skills. In fact, as he was completing the paperwork to close my accounts he told me how Chase neglected to tell him that they placed a 10 day hold on a perfectly good check that he deposited. In the meantime he used his check card for several $1 & $2 purchases. He ended up with over $300 in overdraft fees and was unable to recover a penny of it. If the culture of this organization dictates that this is the way they should treat their employees you can only imagine how they treat their customers.

Their policies and procedures are structured to take advantage of you
I recently made a human error and Chase Bank fined me hundreds of dollars in fees. Background: At the beginning of the summer, my children ages 9 and 6 decided they wanted to mow lawns to earn enough money for a Nintendo Wii. They worked hard all summer under close parental supervision and at the end of the summer they'd saved enough money to purchase a Wii. After some research it became evident that eBay had some of the best deals for games and components. I have a PayPal account because of a small online golf website that I have called agamegolfinstruction.com where I accept payments through PayPal and that money is transferred from PayPal into a Chase bank checking account. We decided to use a credit card for my children’s eBay purchases so I added my credit card to my PayPal account and we deposited my children’s money in the Credit Card account to cover the purchases. We purchased about 10 separate items on eBay using PayPal for a total of about $250. A week later I received a statement from Chase bank that I had accrued nearly $300 in NSF fees. I did some research and after calling PayPal, I realized that somehow during the eBay checkout process, we failed to link the purchases to the credit card on the PayPal account and so PayPal was trying to take money out of my Chase Bank checking account which was nearly empty. At this time, there were still about 4 transactions that hadn’t been completed and I called PayPal and asked if they could change where the eBay transactions were being billed and they said they could not. I called Chase Bank and asked if they could refuse the remaining requests for funds so that PayPal would bill the credit card on file and Chase said they couldn’t do anything. The really frustrating thing is that PayPal requests the funds from the checking account twice before it goes to a backup funding source which is the Credit Card on file. So for example, PayPal tried to request funds twice for one purchase of $5.49 and Chase declined both requests and charged me $35 each time for a total of $70 for that one purchase alone. After all the purchases were completed, Chase charged me over $400 in NSF fees. I spoke with Chase managers to see if they would consider reversing the fees and they gave me $70 which they said is the annual limit they’re allowed to offer. There is no room for negotiation here. It doesn’t matter what your track record is with the bank and how high-quality of a customer you’ve been. Chase takes your money and runs. BEWARE of Chase because their policies and procedures are structured to take advantage of you with no means of recourse on your part. Go to a credit union or a local bank where they’ll get to know you by name and treat you as a valuable member.

credit card rip off
After a late payment I got my rate jacked UP TO 29.99. LEGAL THEFT ? The govt. needs to do something to the credit card companies that are in effect stealing for people trying to pay off deft but can not due to the outrageous interest rates the card companies are charging. Why do they incest on charging so mush for credit? What bug business don't understand is they are driving the American people into the poor house and when no one can afford to use credit cards where will they be? on an 11, 000 credit card bill making the minimum monthly payment it will take over 30 years to pay it off at the 29.99 interest rate. Really, where do they think they can make over 46, 000.00 in interest on 11, 000.00 in credit card debt? I sure wish everyone would STOP using any and all credit cards just to put a hurting on all the card companies ...

If your smart, don't bank with them
For everyone out there that doesn't know, chase bank s are now under investigation by the federal government for taking money out of all of of your accounts. chase has a lot of secrets there not telling anyone. trust me i have had money taken hundreds.
Keep track of your money because if you don't they start by just taking a few dollars and if you don't catch it they will do it again.
if your smart, don't bank with them. because you will be screwed when chase is found guilty by the government.

Theft by Chase Bank

Stealing from Customers
Definition of " PRE-PAID" Texas Workfoce Commision debit card for unemployment = can only spend what is on it!!! But according to CHASE (as in chase my money) in 2007 when I was on unemployment - I spent $400 more than what the prepaid card was loaded for - and they never called or gave me any notice of a problem then ...but now in 2010, when I find myself laid off, and call to inquire where my new TWC debit card is - they inform me they loaded it onto the card from 3 years ago - which of course I do not have. But they happily offer to cancel that card & send me a new one for $17.50 charge to be deducted from card balance - ok - I can choke that down, but then when I ask what the balance is (which I already know per TWC website) Chase informs of - SURPRISE - $400.00 less - WHY - because they took back the money they say was owed on the card from 2007 - Complete & utter BS, and they can't pull up statements from back then to explain what happened- they'll have to send off for them in 10 - 14 days...
Can't get statements - can't inform customer of a problem that supposedly existed 3 years ago - but can & do immeidiatly take $400 away from me today! MONEY that if they allowed a transaction to take place on a PRE PAID DEBIT CARD was wrong of them - HMMMMM. They tell me there is nothing I can do about it - well I will start here and hit ever place I can find to show the wonderful way the take care of their customers

Unprofessional
OK, here's my story with CHASE bank. When i first opened my account, i was helped my the most courteous personal banker ever. Everything seemed fine until i received a letter from them threatening to close my account if i didn't provide a letter from the social security AD to verify my SS#. I thought to myself well ok, i will go ahead and come in and give them a copy of my social security card. Next day im at the branch where i opened my acct. One of the personal bankers along with the manager helped me; they made a copy of my ss card and they faxed it over to what this other department. Minutes later they said ok, Miss Ada we faxed over the copy now, everything is clear you can go about your business. 3 days passed, i used my card with no problems. Until the 4th day came. Im at the beauty salon getting my eyebrows done thinking i was able to pay with my debit card. After im done its time to swipe the *** thing, & it comes out as declined..!!! im thinking how could this be? i have over $500 in my acct. well it turns out these idiots have put a restriction on my acct w/out notifying me at all!! all because the copy of my ss card wasn't good enough for them. I get on the phone immediately w/this guy who was no idea was going on & barely speaks any ENGLISH & his telling me this until now. WHY IN the world would they not tell me that 3-4 days ago when i was at their branch. At this point i feel betrayed and played by these people who have decided to put a restriction on my OWN *** MONEY!! i wish they would have notified me before to avoid the embarrassment. GRRRR!!! ok, well the story goes on and one w/ not a happy ending. Now, im in the process of closing my acct, NOT MY CHOICE but bcuz they need more documentation from me. i already provide them w/a W2 a letter from the ss AD and they still need me to bring a stub from work showing all the #'s of my social. idk what else to do? OH & they still have the nerves to tell me they're charging me $25 to close my acct...
DO NOT BANK W/SUCH incompetent/RUDE/unprofessional people. CHASE BAD CHASE!!

Raised my interest rate to 24%
I was a washington mutual customer. had a 0% interest rate on my account. charged business things, always paid on time, always paid more then the required amount. they switched to chase bank- interest rate went up to 10%, okay, things are different now, dealt with it, then they raised my interest rate to 19%, couldn't pay off the balance and close my account because i didn't have the money. now they raised my rate to 24%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%. I still have never been late- never. i have always paid more then the amount requred- always. i called and asked why and they said they mailed me a statement (i never got) stating i could "opt out" andclose my account and keep my 19% interest rate. i never got a letter and i really didn't want to keep my 19% interest rate. so, now i am paying 24% on a $10, 000.00 balance and their answer to me was that we are in hard economic times and that i should have accepted my previous terms (that i never got). i hate chase bank.
