Chase Bank Reviews

Allowing your account to overdraw and then charging NSF fees
I had an automatic toll tag credit card charge of $40 that came through, my account only had $10.00 in it. The bank approved the charge and then created a $30.00 overdraft and then charged me a NSF fee because I didn't have funds.

Per the bank they will allow your account to overdraw and approve charges even if you don't have the money and it is your responsibility to make sure you have the money in the account or they will charge you. It is not their responsibilty if you over draw your account. Then way are they approving charges when the money isn't there, they should never allow a check or a credit card charge to go thru if there are not funds. We all make mistakes, but for them to overdraw my account and then charge me for it, is only another way for then to get money out of us. I feel there should be a class-action suit about this.

No Branches in Most of Florida?
I recently moved from Michigan to Florida. I was shocked to find that there were no Chase branches anywhere in my part of Florida, Tampa Bay--only one of the most populated parts of the Sunshine State. I had to mail deposits to a branch in Boca Raton since I seldom have four hours to spare to drive over there. Then I find them refusing to do anything to stop unauthorized charges to my accounts by vendors I have canceled accounts with. These people have dangerous hands, don't let them hold your money!

Bad Customer Service
After a vendor refused to stop automatic billing to my account after I canceled, I found ongoing unauthorized charges later on my bank statement. I contacted Chase multiple times over a three-month period asking them to stop these debits. Each debit was also causing overdraft protection fees since I only keep enough in my checking (transferred from savings) to cover known expenditures. Chase did nothing. Debits and ODP fees continued to eat away at my account of twenty years standing. Calls to their claims office got only rude and snide remarks from the person answering. I was actually told it was my fault for authorizing the charges.

I did not originally open my account with Chase. It was another bank taken over in two corporate engulf-and-devour moves that caused my bank to become Bank One and then Chase. I have seen the biggest deterioration of services in the time it has been Chase. I finally closed my account, moving my funds to other banks that have branches where I now live in Florida. Chase had no branches there. Not enough money in Florida to bother with branches in the Sunshine State? Chase is a bad and dangerous institution I do not want handling my money again!

Terrible experience
My vows start over a year ago. Firstly i got my card and check books only after a month. The agent apparently got my email address wrong. I rechecked the application and saw that it was the error of the bank. Last month applied for a debit card. Never got it so far. First it was sent to my old address. I had updated my address before requesting this card. Then still no answer... don't have the courtesy to call or email to find out about my location. Next i come to know that it has been resent because i am not on the lease. This is false if it comes in regular mail it wouldn't have been stopped. I have been receiving mail and another debit card for that fact in the mean time... CHASE BANK *** BIG TIME... its hight time they close this bank!!

$5.00 a day over draft charges unfounded
After accepting a new job I had to close my bank and move. I went in to the bank and made sure my balance was $0.00. I then asked about outstanding debits. I don't have a check book so I know I didn't have any checks out. Several months later I recieve a letter from a Financial Collection Agency saying I was charged a $5.00 a day over draft fee for my account being over drawn. Threatining that I won't be able to have a bank account for 7 years and freezing assets...etc...Supposedly I had a -20.00 balance that quickly went to $300.00. This isn't right.

Rip off
I have been having problems paying my chase auto loan just over the passed couple of months and have been getting harassed severely every single day. I have been having issues sleeping, stomach pains, depression... you name it I probably have it. If you are more than 2 days late with your vehicle payment Chase's representatives will be calling you non stop sometimes two to three times per day.

The most recent encounter I've had to deal with is this man calling my parents house asking for me and telling my parents to get in contact with me and let me know that there is an investigator Hawkins looking for me and its in reference to case #10410. When I called the number back it said they were 'General investigations unit' The phone number was 866-844-7784. They called back the next day and harassed me they were going to pursue Repo on my vehicle. I called my local police dept. along with my sheriffs dept and there is nothing with them about my repo.

I am so tired and cant deal with any more stress. I also looked up online 800notes.com looked up a number which this supposed company used to have which was 866-845-3148 and found numerous complaints about an investigator hawkins and he was threatening that he was a sheriff with the oakland county sheriffs dept. He must have been getting numerous people catching on to him so he changed his tune and his number. He told me that he will come and find me and I am just wondering who Chase is hiring to do a repo.

I also called the milwuakee sheriffs dept and they havent' heard of investigator Hawkins or the general investigations unit. The sheriff told me that it may be the repo guy because they've been known to do that. This is so wrong I have dealt with Chase's BS for over three years. I always paid more than my minimum payment every month till these passed few months. I have received numerous calls though after the due date... even though I was a few days late with payments as soon as the second or third day your late you will receive numerous calls sometimes 3-5 a day telling a different rep. every time you just got done telling someone else the same informations they are asking. They don't care they will make your life a living hell.

I've tried to refinance through them numerous times and will not help even when I was always on time or a few days late they wouldn't touch it. I have also tried to trade my vehicle just to get away with Chase but they said I would be upside down in the new loan and owe a lot of money. Chase is charging me 24% interest every month. I need some help anyone have any suggestions???

FEES
9/15/08 Chase bank attached a $1.00 charge to my statement I just viewed on the internet. I suggest you check your account to make sure you have not been screwed also. They did issue me a credit upon not being able to determine WHY my account had been charged FOR NO REASON. I GUESS THEY HOPE YOU WON'T UNDERSTAND & WON'T TAKE THE TIME TO QUIZ THEM ABOUT IT. BA$TARD$

Customer cheat
I would like to find an attorney that would be willing to file a class action lawsuit against chase bank and other banks with the same practices. Chase likes to find ways to change the way credits, debits and checks come through the system so that they can charge you nsf fees and make more money. They deny it and state what their practices are but yet from different telephone bankers you get a different story... Anyone game?

Rip off
After receiving last month's credit card statement, I noticed that there were fraudulent charges on my husband's account. I immediately called customer service and spoke to them regarding the situation. Needless to say, the situation was very upsetting and all kinds of thoughts were running through my head about identity theft, what I should do, who I should contact, etc. For the next few days, I proceeded to go through the necessary steps to try to prevent further theft. But in the mean time I totally forgot to pay my credit card balance (minus the fraudulent charges) which I usually do online.

I immediately called Chase Bank two days after the due date to explain my situation, and to ask whether they could waive the late fee ($39) and finance charges ($440). The customer rep. proceeded to tell me that she could waive the late fee but not the finance charge. I further explained to her that if she looked at our history, she would see that we were excellent customers and were NEVER LATE in making payments for the last 36 years. AND were victims of fraud... could she make an exception?? She acted as though she could have cared less. I then asked to speak to a supervisor.

Same could care less attitude... The supervisor further explained that there were no exceptions and only if it was a 'bank error' could they waive any fees/charges. I felt as though I were speaking to robots who were just reading off of a manual... no emotion, could care less.

I then proceeded to let them know that I would be canceling my accounts with them and would take my business elsewhere.

Online billing
I have a Chase credit card. They sent me mail touting the benefits of a paperless account. I went to their web site to register. I read the terms and conditions and declined because they required arbitration for any dispute. I soon began to get spam mail from their partners so I sent a email to the person who sent me a welcome-to-their-website email. I stated unequivocally that I had declined the terms and did not want access to their site. I also demanded that they contact every one of their partners and ensure that my name was removed from their mailing list. The mail eventually trickled off but when I charged an item on my Chase card, the bill went to the web site instead of being mailed. It was the first charge I had made in two years. Naturally, I didn't pay it, having never seen it. By chance, a clerk offered me 20% off a purchase for signing up for a credit card. I accepted but the application was rejected. zA check of my credit report revealed that Chase had been charging me late fees for six months on top of the original charge. I called Chase and had a heated discussion with a woman who said they were only authorized to 'forgive' three months of late fees. I asked her to get me someone who could rescind ALL the late fees and she asked who I think that might be. Smart ass, she was. I simply replied that she should find me someone in her organization who is in a position to hire and fire. That's the person I want to talk to. She switched me to another state and the person I spoke agreed to rescind the charges and I agreed to pay for the original charge. I payed over the phone and then filed a dispute with the credit bureau. I am contemplating legal action for the unauthorized switching of my account. Once I get a legal opinion from an attorney, I will decide what approach to take. I am looking for Chase to answer my dispute with a negative reply. That should give me some ammo to tear them a new one.
