Chase Bank Reviews

Lack of Customer Service
I have been unemployed since the beginning of October and have been approved for unemployment benefits and have been unable until yesterday to get a live person at chase bank to tell me where the card they were supposed to send was. I was transferred to the person I spoke with so I have no idea how to call them back. The woman I spoke with said that the benefits were on my account and I had activated my card. She explained that I have had the card for a while. I applied for unemployment 4 years ago and destroyed the card after it was expired. Then the woman said that yes she did see the card expired and she would issue a new one and that if I lost another card I would have to pay a fee to get a new one and that I only get one free replacement per year. There was no apology for putting the money on an expired card. The person was not flippant she was flat. I was too furious to say any more and now I can not get a live person make my complaint to. So in seven to ten days I will should receive the card if chase is competent enough to do that. If I find my self evicted while I wait for chase to send me the debit card I will go to the nearest chase bank and set up a tent by the front door.

Locked me out of my house
Chase is awful when I had to take a pay cut I contacted them about a modification Chase told me since I made all my payments they could not do anything unless I was delquient. After times got bad I was forced to move closer to my job, Chase stated I abandoned my house and actually changed the locks so we could not get in. The removed my realtors lock box and never sent me a notification that they had been in the house even though legally they are suppose to. It took MONTHS to finally get a key which resulted in my house not be able to be shown It is now set for forclose and we have a cash offer and Chase won't even listen to me or my realtor when it comes to negotiatons. No wonder this country is the mess it is in!!!

Appropriately Named
"Chase" is appropriately named. Because, that's what you will be doing for YOUR OWN money...Chasing it. Don't bother setting up their so called "alerts" for low balances because they will only notify you AFTER they have taken YOUR money, even though you put money IN your account the same day as the notification. They tell you, at the bank, that if your account shows a low amount, as long as you put funds in BEFORE THE END OF THE WORKING DAY you won't be charged an overdraft fee. This is a LIE. They LIE. THEY STEAL. They are the most unscrupulous bank on the planet. After you spend endless hours on the phone being jerked around and telling the SAME STORY TO EVERYONE you speak to, they will tell you some ridiculous LIE, and read from their scripted responses. The BOTTOM line is that even if it IS their mistake, you won't get your money back. They tell you that as a "courtesy" they will refund a certain amount and that you can never get anything back again for that entire year. In other words they STEAL your money, and as a courtesy they will give you back some of the money they stole, and still KEEP some. I closed all my accounts with them over 10 years ago (for other unscrupulous behavior of theirs) and went to another bank, which UNFORTUNATELY was bought out by Chase. If you're smart you won't have ANY credit card that deals with Chase bank and you won't have any bank account with them. Apparently YOUR account is THEIR account. "Chase...Where we treat YOUR account like OUR own." That's what their new motto should be!!!

Worst customer service
I had to put a stop payment on a check due to someone having their purse stolen. First, it took me FOREVER to get to an attendant to help me and then, he told me it was going to cost $32 to put a stop payment. I told him I thought that it was an outrageous price to pay for him to push a button and he said "that's Chase's policy". Of course, I had to pay it to put the stop payment. After already plugging in my account number in order to even talk to someone and then the guy asking my name, I had to give my account number again. Then he asked my name, I told him that he already asked me that at the beginning of the phone call, but, told him again. Because I told him I was unhappy with their customer service and exorbitant fees, he totally started giving me attitude. After this phone call, I called my husband and told him we definitely need to switch banks. CHASE HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL!

Bilingual profiling
We have been longtime customers of a local bank which originally was Great Western, then Washington Mutual and now Chase. In all those years we never received or requested information in Spanish. When Chase took over the bank we started receiving information addressed to us in Spanish. What is upsetting is that they automatically assumed that we spoke Spanish based on our name and placed us on their bilingual list. I came to this conclusion because our daughter, who has accounts and has the same last name, receives her information only in English. I consider this racial profiling. It's one thing when someone requests information in Spanish and another when someone is automatically assumed to speak Spanish because of their name. Because of this we are now receiving offers in Spanish from other companies. Guess what? Those offers are Deep Sixed as we won't do business with anyone who assumes we speak Spanish. My ancestor's learned English and so should everyone else if they want to live here.

morgage
My name is R.Wehust (909)963-9600

My business was slowing at the end of the year, so i requested a modifacation. They told me I had to be behind in payments. At that time I was not. I knew that I would be, hence the mod. Well several months went by and I was approximately $12, 000 behind. So I decided to sell some equipment to remedy the situation. I came up with $15, 000 cash and I walked it into my local bank to bring my account up to good standings plus pay ahead one month. Well I was turned away by the manager (she was very coopertive )after she had made a call to verify the amount to pay the main office. I was told that I had to wait 10 days for the amount at the same time I had other business expenses to pay. I waited 15 days then I could not wait I needed to move forward. They sent me twelve letters in the mail(all in one day) via First American Trustee. I've had to file bankruptcy to protect my house at about $22, 000 behind, unfortunately this was not my lifes goal.Does Chase own my house or does First American Trustee. Are they both in to making the big profit off "we the people"? And why couldn't they just take my money? And I'll be wondering will they not give me a mod?
Who is more important to Chase? We the people or First American Trustee (the vendor)!

Home Modification Lie
We were pushed into our loan with Chase bank. We were not going to go through with this loan, because nothing was done for us. They put me on the loan as Co-signer, when I wanted to be title only with my dad. The Realitors, Builders, and the loan people all told us we had to settle with what they had done. Nothing was done, at closing, and they still pushed us to keep going. We got called at last minute. Anyways, Chase took on the loan, and the title company that was signing this for us on their behalf wouldn't listen to us. Anyways, We were trying to sell our other home to put the money down on this home. It became winter, and nothing was selling. I called chase to let them know I was having a little trouble, of with out our other house selling I was having a time making ends meet. So I wanted to see if our intrest, or something could be lowerd to help us out. Then when the house sold, I woud put the money down. One of Chase workers said not a problem. He told me that he would talk to someone about that. Well, I lost my job, and I even had a harder time. So, I called, and talked to an employee again. He said, that he would work with us. He would let us have 6 months no payment to give us time to get something sold, or a new job. I told him I didn't want not to pay anything. I ask if I could pay at least the interest. He said no this would help us to get help, and they could put it to the back of the loan. Now, I knew I was being lied to. He said to call back, and they would set up a new interest plan in six months.

In six months, nothing changed. I called back, and they told me that they would lower, our interest, and if I could pay this for six months on time, they would lower our payments, and help us out with a modification. I thought ok. At least I can pay something. Well, I paid this, and in six months, I found out that only half the payment was put in a account. The rest went to Lawyers. They changed out my insurance, and put theirs on too. Then they told me they could not put things to the back, and that no one would have told me that, which was a lie. Now I was way behind. They started wanting more documents for a modification. I told them, that I wanted to just make my full payment. They wouldn't accept this. Everyone, I spoke with told me a different storie. I was treated rude, and no one knew what they were doing. They said that I would get a Modification to just be patient. Well, I was denide. Then I called the main office, and she told me some choices I had to get caught up, but they would never put anything on the back of the loan. I was told that I was being put into a forecloser. I tried to make my full payments, but they told me that only half goes to the loan. So I feel so very lost. All of Chases employee's lied to me. I feel that they need to get their act together. They keep wanting the same things of documents over, and over again. I send them, and they never let me know what is going on. I feel that I should have never listened to them at all. Now again they say I owe more than what we do owe. They want us to pay over $20, 000k. I tried to get a loan to bring it up to date even though we don't owe it, but our credit is no good from them so I can't do anything, and they are not willing to work with me. This is just the tip of the Iceburg. Now though I am living in a home, that is falling apart, and never finished because the builder ran off. The realitor never stood up for nothing. Chase still wants us to pay for a house that we also got over charged for. We found out out that they used their own person to say how much the house was worth, and it is $100.000k we were over charged. Try to get someone to help, and listen, and no one will. Chase won't even listen. We lived in Las Vegas, NV, and we always, had money, and our bills were paid on time. Here in Colorado, and with Chase bank, we are broke. Please if someone could help us.

Refused to stop Fraud in Real Time
I became aware of the likely fraud being perpetuated on me and called the bank that had just accepted a wire transfer. I had all the account info and asked that the transaction be put on hold until the veracity of the account owner could be established. They, Chase Bank's Manager, laughed at me and hung up!
They have not heard the last word from me.

Closed account
I have had a credit card through Chase Bank Since 1992. In December, 2009 I received a letter stating that Chase was closing my credit card account. I do not understand why they closed my account, because I have made payments month after month faithfully, mostly on time. (once in a while, about once a year I forgot to mail the payment on time, was a few days late.) Chase charged me 27.24% interest, so they were making plenty of money off of me! If I had not been making payments on time then I would have understood them closing my account. Guess it dosen't matter if you have been a long time, faithful account holder.

Stay away
Chase set up an escrow account and double paid my real estate taxes on my home. We have had no escrow on our home for 9 years.

We have written, emailed, called, etc. It is really frustrating to lose hours and hours of time because of a bank error.

They artificially increased our payment by almost 200.00 per month as well!

Just a classic example of a big bank trying to take advantage of a customer by hiding behind their website and using customer service people that do not speak English as a first language.
