I have an equity line with Chase, and for three years now I have been making the payments on time and never late. For some reason about a year and a half
ago I started keeping copies of my statements. 2 months ago I caught something. They send me a statement every month. This particular month, it said I owed
125.oo principal and interest. Fine, I sent 200.00. The following month I get my statement, and they took the extra 75.00 and put it to interest. So my taxable balance for the previous month and the following month were exactly the same. So I pulled out what statements I have and they have been doing this all along.
Some months I owed 150.00 and sent 300.00, they took 250 for interest and 50 went to principal. Numerous calls have been made, nothing resolved. I asked for
an amortization schedule. We will send you one, was the answer. I get a letter from them saying they can't provide one because it is a variable rate loan. I get my loan paperwork out and right there is a payment plan for 30 years. Call back explain this. Ok, we will send you a schedule. Same letter 2 weeks later.
Go to the local branch near me and talk to one of the loan officers and explained what has been going on with my payments, and he said that wasn't right.
He got on the phone and called the same morons I had been talking to. After about 10 minutes on the phone with them, he started to change his tune about how the payments are applied. He told them to send me an amortization schedule because it is a simple fixed rate loan. Today I get home from work and have the same letter in my mailbox from them.

Lets talk loan modification now. Applied in March. Had to reapply in August. Got my reply from them at the end of September and I qoute" your income is insufficient for the amount of credit required." My income has dropped about $15-20000 over the past couple of years due to lack of work. I am current with all payments, never late, great credit {high 700's}, they basically tell me to get behind and destroy my credit and then they might help me. Doe's that make good
business sense.
