Chase Credit Card Reviews

Paperless Statements, New Annual Fees, Account Closure, and Credit Ding
Here's one.
My Providian account was acquired by Chase last year.

My account had been paid off since October 2009. I had no reason to expect that I should be carrying a balance and no idea that Chase had switched me to paperless statements.

Then, Chase decided to charge me an annual fee without my knowledge in February 2010.

Chase failed to notify me that I had a past due amount (new annual fee) by email and phone.

Chase automatically refunded the annual fee (how generous) then closed my account. Now they plan to report my "delinquency" and account closure to the credit agencies.

My credit WAS immaculate. Now it is not.

Chase is ruining my credit rating--and probably the ratings of others as well.

Wrongfully Charge Fees
Chase credit card charged my account with $15 late fee and $1 interest on 7/5. However, our payment was not late, instead, Chase received the payment late. Chase system doesn't receive payments on holidays (7/5 Monday after 7/4 Independence Day), but the system does charge late fees on holidays. We called to try to resolve the issue, Both one representative and one superviser refused to reverse the fees. We believe it is extremely wrong to charge us late fee on a holiday when it is Chase system that failed to receive our payment. And our entire purchases (and payment) for the month was only $63.85, while the fees are $16 (i.e. fees are 25% of balance). This is very abusive. The bank's bad behavior should be punished. Customers should be aware of this kind of bad practise and should bank with a decent bank.

Cancelling my credit card
I have three Chase credit cards. Two of them have a zero balance and I owe one about $7500. Today I got in the mail a letter from them stating they were cancelling one of my cards with zero balance for the standard BS reasons. I called them and they said my debt to credit ratio was really the reason. I said that ratio has been getting better for the last two years and therefore they were not really telling me the truth. I then spoke with the supervisor who asked for my income which I told her. She took a few minutess and came back apologizing for the delay and then told me not only was that card cancelled but the other zero balanced card. I told the bitch that her apology was not accepted and we all know the cards were cancelled because of inactivity. I told her it was obvious that she was lying and she should be ashamed of herself. I also told her that I made up my mind a long time ago that if I got screwed by the card companies three times I was going to go with a debt relief company where I had the final say on the settlement and was not going to allow them anymore than 30 cents on the dollar. I told her she has just cost Chase $5000. I am from the old school which means I have always paid my debts on time and in full but at 60 years old, I have decided that the old school does not work anymore. With the millions of honest citizens suffering because of the financial perverts I feel my complaining is the least I can do. There are many many financial asssholes that need to be prosecuted becausee of the pain they have caused. I say line them up and shoot them and our economy will rebound immediately.

harassment
Because of my unpaid account they connected my phone to a machine to dial my home phone many times during the day. It is done to many people every day. I told them and emailed that I wont pay till my account is fixed. I had a permanent credit and unfairly they reversed the charges. No one listens or try to understand. Keeping on calling my house and no one at the other end. That is HARRASSEMENT. How can they allow this to happen.
Chase is the worse company
SUCH A STUPID BEHEAVIOR ON THEIR PART.

no good credit managemnet
Thank you Chase for the $10, 000 credit card that I currently carry, is unfortunate that many people do not take credit card terms and conditions seriously, even though they may say they do, they really dont. I do, so I have auomatic payment with my credit card because terms and cond. say that I may be repriced if I miss one payment or if it gets there late. I understand that they are trying to protect themselves and un like the failling banks chase really takes loans seriously. If I didnt agree to the terms that are written behind my statement each month It would be safer to borrow from a relative or even a friend, not a bank. Yes! Credit cards are no joke.

rip off
Chase credit cards. I called during Christmas to see if I had money for one last gift. I did, then ten days later they add service charges charged me for over the limit. I paid that, then even though I have never been over the limit or late raised my interest rate to 27.99%.
There customer service was in India and very rude.
Chase is a filthy company with no morals or values.
We bail them out and we get treated terrible.
Chase's greed is disgusting, I hope they get there rewards back to them. They screw hard working people for there selfish greed. Hell should dedicate a special place for them.

thieves
I had a WAMU credit card with a 9% interest rate. I never overdrew or missed a payment and always paid more than minimum. Chase took over and shot my interest rate from 9% to 20% in 2 months.

A new credit card law was just passed that they cannot report to credit report for 60 days nor charge you late fees for so long..This company is bad and theives. I do not like their practices which is why I never took out a card with Chase in the first place.

Due to the interest rate my monthly interest on my bill went from $5 a month to well over $20 JUST in interest. My monthly minimum went from $10 to $40. I had to quit paying them because of the spike and the economy. The day AFTER (1 day) they didn't get my payment they started calling me every 15 minutes demanding payment. They also added a late charge within less than a week (the law is 45-60 days). Within a month it had hit my credit report. (this is also illegal).

They were also harassing my family for payment on my behalf..We had to change our phone numbers just for a little peace. Not only would they call every 15 minutes they would call 7 days a week and they are NOT allowed to call you on Sunday.

This is how much they appreciate their loyal customers who pay monthly without fail..jacking up the rates. If I had wanted an account with Chase I would have applied for one. This is the reason I steered away from Chase to begin with. They break every law they can with accounts.

Someone should sue them and they should have to refund all the money they have cheated their customers out of.

Late Fee
A $39 late fee is excessive. Period. Having seen this on my bill, I became livid. As the person who writes the bills, I am on top of due dates. However, that doesn't necessarily mean the check gets in the mail. Regardless, four days late.

As a customer who has historically paid his bills on time, and much more than the minimum, I thought I was a good customer. Doesn't matter. According to Mike at Customer Service, its a matter of corporate policy not to refund late fees. "You can talk to my manager, he has no authority (can't do it) to make that happen, either." Credit cards are commodities, it's the customer service that differentiates businesses. In Chase's case, I guess they prefer to be a commodity.

They have just lost my business. I also have a mortgage with Chase. I'm considering moving that business as well. My ire has now turned to disappointment.

Regards,

Brian Fisher

Fraud
I have a 1500 credit line on my Chase Credit Card.
I made a purchase with this credit card for the amount of 1500.
When I received a monthly statement I found that my balance is 1540.50
So I called to customer service and they told me that I was charged 1.50 finance and 39.00 OVERLIMIT charge on top of 1500.
The conversation with a supervisor end up with her throwing "Have a nice day" and hanging up on me.
I have 2 credit cards with Chase but I will be better without this scandalous bank.

interest rate
After years with Wamu and now with Chase, I have had an absolutely perfect payment history with a high credit score and low debt utilization. I received a letter with no explanation that the rate was going up on the card over ten points. With Wachovia merging into a not so appealing Wells Fargo, I was looking for a new banking institution and I thought Chase may be the answer. Well, apparently Chase has a very low regard for its customers and a very narrow focus on it's future. Stay away from Chase, it's new here in Florida...they can't be trusted to be a good financial partner.
