Chase Credit Cards Reviews

Changed Fixed to Variable APR
Been banking with Chase for years with no problems. Today they changed my fixed rate credit card to variable rate. I opted to reject the changes and they closed my account on the spot. I've got a spotless credit history across the board. The representative said all of their credit card accounts are changing to variable. I'm in the process of closing all 3 of my remaining accounts and will never do business with them again.

they are cheats & liars
You are wasting your breath talking to these ppl. Everything they have told me was a lie, they do not do anything they say they will. I think they're trying to cause us to default so they can get more of our tax money. These are the worst crooks I have ever encountered! We as a country are being treated so bad, nobody is on our side. If they had used the TARP money to give each family under a certain income limit $20, 000 per family then there would be no recession, plus the economy would improve because people would be buying & or paying their bills! I hate you Chase & hope you take me to court, I have all my paperwork & I have paid you enough thru the years to not owe anything. So keep adding on those late dues, I don't CARE! I paid you more than the minimum, never late & you treat me this way?? Hell NO, I won't forget & neither will the rest of us, I hope you go so under, everyone of you loses your jobs that's works for Chase, that is lying to us, so you get the same treatment you're giving us! Go to HELL!!

interest rate hike
Got my last bill and saw a significant increase in my monthly payment amount. Upon looking even closer, saw that my interest rate had gone up 12% points. Called to find out why. Was told I had defaulted. I had made my payments and said so. Was told I had made August's payment late. Checked my online records and saw that I had made that payment, online, 5 days before it was due. Called Chase again and stated that I had not made a late payment in August. Was told the late payment was in July. Checked my online records again and saw that I had made the payemt 4 days, online, 4 days before it was due.
Called Chase and canceled the card. Tired of dicking around with those bozo's.

Chase Screws Their Customers and HORRIBLE Customer Service
Today I got my bill from Chase and noticed the APR increased from 9.24% to 16.24%. I have never defaulted, I always pay more than the minimum, and I have not made a purchase (besides a tank of gas) in over a year. I called to find out why and the rep said Chase sent a letter in May (which I never got) saying that all APR will increase and the only way to retain your current APR is to opt out - BY CANCELING YOUR ACCOUNT! I worked for a competitor, so I understand credit and if I close that line of credit then my credit score will not be as strong as it is now, so I was pissed. I told him I wanted to complain to a supervisor. I was calm and collected but she (supervisor named Paula) was rude the entire time and interrupted EVERY time I spoke. After 10 minutes of this I told her not to interrupt me, which she continued to do. I had to tell her another time or two before (and mind you I'm still being calm) before eventually I had enough and told her to shut up. I told her I am the customer and it's VERY rude to interrupt, especially when it's the customer. There was no response, then a machine came on saying I was abusive to their staff and to never call again. Seriously, it said "please do not ever call or write to us again".

So I called right back. I asked for a supervisor again and explained why. Then I told that supervisor about what happened and told her that Paula and the rep before her had told me there is an address for the executive office where I can ask to lower my APR and I wanted that address. This supervisor would not give it to me for a few minutes and just kept fighting me on it saying things like "they won't do it and I'm not going to let you waste your time". Eventually she stopped mid-sentence and said she'd get it for me, almost as though someone was over her shoulder telling her to give it to me. Her name was Mary. I just couldn't believe how rude they were, especially when I pointed out that I have been a long, loyal customer and they make a good profit from me, yet I am the one being punished "so the bank can be more profitable" (yeah, two people really said that). Chase are a bunch of fascist nazi pigs and I'll never do any business with them and I am making sure to spread the word. Fuck Chase bank.

Credit card account closed without notice
I have been trying very hard to bring down the balances on my credit cards and had done very well with reducing the balance on my Chase card in particular, which was a Washington Mutual card to begin with. In fact, I had gotten the balance down to 1/3d of what I owed and felt great about this. Finally, my debt to credit limit ratio was looking fantastic. So imagine my surprise when I discovered that they had closed my account out of the blue. They told me that a letter had been sent to me that explained their reasons for closing my account. I never received any such letter, nor was I ever alerted via email nor was this indicated on my account online. In a panic, I ran my credit report thinking that someone must have stolen my identification or something. After all, I make the minimum payment on each card twice a month just to be sure that I never run the risk of getting a late payment on my record. But it appears that I, like many others, was dropped without warning.

Unfortunately, I don't yet know what the long term consequences will be. I imagine that I will experience a significant drop in my credit rating and that I will see the repercussions with the interest rates of my other cards. Thankfully, I don't use this card to pay for business expenses nor do I use it to survive.

In the long run, I will take this a reminder lesson to not rely on banks and creditors. From now on, I will work to pay off my credit cards and car loan and never again carry a balance, if I can help it.
If anyone is filing a class action suit, please contact me. I would be more than happy to speak up about these abusive and unfair practices.

poor business practices
I paid off one Chase card that I had had since it was a Washington Mutual. Everything was okay for another billing cycle, in which I paid the balance in full again. The next month, I tried to charge $3.41 on a card with $3000.00 credit limit and the transaction declined. I called Chase Card services after looking at my forcoming statement online. The "no-customer" service department told me that due to reviewing my credit report, they chose to close my account. The funny thing is, first, I still have two more credit card accounts with small balances that they left open. Why would a company, if the deciding factor was something on my credit report, close the account that I just paid off and leave two more accounts, of which I carried a small balance, open. Secondly, their reasoning makes no sense as the month before, my Citibank card just, out of the blue, dropped my interest rate by 5 points. I told the representative that I would pay off my other two accounts and that I would never do any type of business with Chase again on any level. If enough of us choose to do that, the will fail and maybe this time, OUR governing body will see fit to let a company with such poor business practices, fail.

usury
I have been a Chase card holder for 20 years. On a payment to pay the entire balance of $325 I was charged a $39 late fee and Interst of $6.50 for paying 48 hours late. On a other card I had a balance of 1325 and I paid my Zero percent rate increased to 15% and charged $39 and $15.75 in interest also for paying 48 hours late.

Since they refuse to reconsider the late fees I AM TAKING CHASE TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT TO RECOVER MY FEES AND A INTEREST
WHICH IS BILLED AT OVER 1000%.

Even if I lose I still win since they will have to pay $200 to defend themselves in Van Nuys Municiple Court!.

Unwarranted shutdowns
My Chase credit card was shut down, unexpectedly and for unwarranted reasons, for the third time. This practice is unacceptable.
Among other hardships (the need to reschedule all recurring payments, payments of late fees, finding and using alternate funding while abroad, loss of rewards) it created the following nightmarish scenarios: (1) being stranded with inability to buy gasoline in the middle of a long car trip, (2) revocation of domestic car insurance while abroad, (3) inability to handle emergency medical payments while abroad, (4) inability to make purchases and pay bills while abroad. Similar experiences are reported by other Chase credit card customers on these web pages.
The unwarranted reasons stated for shutting down the card turned out to be: (1) a legitimate online purchase done by my wife, (2) an unauthorized charge from German company via PayPal, and (3) an unauthorized charge of 1 cent by a company in England. The first two did not invoke change of the credit card number, the third one did. The Chase action regarding the third incident is especially unwarranted, since all indications are that the charge was made by “robocalling.” There was no record of the expiration date or the card security code for this transaction.
I request Chase decision makers to implement effective security procedures that work! This is imminently possible. For starters, I am requesting a back-up credit card that will get automatically activated when the primary card will be – for whatever reason – shut down. I also request that the security procedures will be revised and implemented in such a way that unwarranted shutdowns and changes of card numbers will not occur.
Please help me. Write to Mr. Gordon A. Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Chase Credit Card Services, P.O.Box 15295, Wilmington, DE 19850-5298. Let him know, in no uncertain terms, that there is no substitute for true quality. The practice of shutting down credit cards and changing their numbers for unwarranted reasons leads to immense hardships, losses, and liabilities to us, the customers. As such, it is unacceptable. Additionally, there are better ways to implement security. The Chase Credit Card Services should be using them.

Bad Service
BOTTOM LINE: DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH CHASE UNLESS OF COURSE YOU ARE A MINDLESS IDIOT WHO FEELS BANKS ARE DOING YOU A FAVOR BECAUSE THEY ARE NICE PEOPLE.

I have called for months trying to get the correct address on my statements. Customer service is rude, unhelpful and not very well trained.

If you call them and want them to do something please thank them and say please, after all, All you do is spend money with them---Its nice of them to take it...They are doing you the favor and they will let you know that...

If you want to file a complaint, they will provide an address. Why...too many will call and complain. Honestly, they DO NOT CARE AS LONG AS THE GOVERNMENT BAILS THEM OUT FOR BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES.

I hope they all go out of business, bailing these big banks out will only make things worse. They are untouchable, unwilling to help and a bunch of horses asses... If Chase goes under or lays off, I will buy the first round to toast the free market society that forced the ungrateful, self righteous banking stewards out of business.

Payment Amount
I am trying to find the name a high level manager for Chase Customer Support. I talked to a rep in Feb and setup direct debit payments for my card at an agreed upon amount. Now - 2 months later I am getting harrassing calls from their customer support saying that is not enough money and the person should not have set it up. I asked to speak to a supervisor and that person was even more nasty.
I need a real high level person. Anyone have any name?
