Chase Home Finance Reviews

Foreclosure
I have a home loan through chase and I recently fell on hard times due to a medical condition and was unable to pay my mortgage...I called chase and arranged a repayment plan once I went back to work...I had Bank of America send them my monthly mortgage payment and chase sent it back only I didn't get the money back to my account...they told me they couldn't take the payment since my house is in foreclosure...news to me. So now they won't take any money to get me caught up but want to see if I qualify for a modification mean while my mortgage is still due so if I don't get the modification I'm still in foreclosure...one would think that I'm showing good faith by paying over what my mortgage is and trying to get caught up but instead of accepting it they are hindering me.

Home Mortgage
DO NOT USE Chase Home Finance for your next home mortgage or refinance. You are better off selecting ANY other mortgage company. You deserve better customer service that Chase provides. I will never use Chase for any of my financial matters and intend to tell ANYONE that will listen.

I live in the DFW area and I'm willing to provide names of specific loan officers so that you don't make the same mistake I did.

Please post this message to your wall or blog and tell anyone who will listen. Thank You

Home Loan Modification
We submitted all required forms, documents, etc. to Chase in February 2010 for a Home Loan Modification. Todays date is 4-19-11 and absolutely nothing has been done. We have sent 5 requests for a modification. My file is about 5" thick of everything I've faxed to Chase costing approx. $225 in fees. We were assigned a relationship manager in March 2010 and dealt with her til July 2010 when she informed us we were denied because of turning in a required document 1 day late. I told them what date their letter of request for further documentation was dated and when I received it. Chase's letter stated I had 5 days from date of letter to return documents. It took this letter 6 days to reach me. Can you see where I'm coming from. So we started process over again. From July to December 2010 I faxed 3 different home loan apps because AGAIN CHASE said there was nothing on file, yet I have fax confirmations. In December 2010 after calling to check status I was told we were denied again because Chase doesn't think we reside at the property. When we purchased home in 2001 our physical address was a route #. Our county issued 911 addresses in 2005. This information was submitted to Chase over and over!!! So, we started the process again and have been put through the ringer in attempting contact with the proper dept. I usually spend approx. 1.5 to 2 hours on the phone each time I call them, because I am redirected over and over and have to tell my story each time. The telephone numbers provided for home loan mod. are redirected to customer service. Rec'd letter from Chase 3-5-11 acknowledging receipt of loan mod. request. 1st part of April I spend 2 hours on phone to again be told they don't show anything. I was finally able to speack with some who gave me and email address to place a complaint. I have received notice from Chase that this is being looked in to and I should hear something in 30 days. We'll see. If I had the money to hire a lawyer I would. What can WE DO?

Forbearance
My loan was previously sereviced by Citi when I was granted a forbearance to skip one payment and repay a certain amount during the course of one year for damage due to hurricane Ike in 2009. Before I was able to repay Citi according to Forbeearance agreement, Chase began servicing my loan. Per agreement with Citi, I repaid a monthly additional amount along with my current payment during the course of one year. Chase put all the additional payments in a suspense fund and have since eaten away some of the additional payment for late charges and fees. According to agreement, we are not supposed to incur any late charges or adverse credit reports as a result of this forbearance as long as we comply with the agreement. After numerous phone calls, faxes, and letters, Chase has yet to credit our account for the repayment amount and has been accruing late charges and fees on the account. Chase has not recognized the forbearance even though they have copies of it sent from us. Because Chase has not recognized the forbearance, they applied the current payment to the skipped payment; thus, every payment after that for the last 2 yrs has been registering as late. Chase refuses to correct this error. We have spoken with people in numerous departments. It seems that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. However, Chase continues to be inundating us with harassing phone calls on a daily basis. Help us get out of this dilemma! Make Chase pay.

Home loan modification
We have had a lot of trouble with Chase trying to get our home loan modified. Our first attempt was in May 2009. We received documents for the Modification but they had my name and another man's name which was NOT my husband's. We waited for months for new documents to come as they said they would fix them and resend. We never received any. I called and was told our information was out of date and that we need to resubmit everything. So we did. We resubmitted all of our documentation 3 more times. Each time we were never informed that something was incomplete until we called months later to check the status. We would then be told something was incorrect, missing or that it has now been too long again and we would need to resumit everything. I feel we should have never resumitted documents. Chase should have fixed the paperwork they originally sent in 2009, like they said they were going to, so our Modification could be complete. Today we received a Notice of Default pinned to the front of our house because we are behind on one of our loans with Chase. My husband and I do not want to lose our office. Which would be why everytime we were told to resubmit everything we did. I called Chase today to see what we need to do to maintain our house. I called and left message at the number we were given. I then called the number given for Chase. I was then transferred and/or given 5 different numbers to call. I was transferred, put on hold and hung up on. Every time I call Chase this is what happens. No department ever seems to be the right department. No one knows what to tell me. No one really seems to know much of anything of what needs to be done. I still do not understand why Chase was never able to fix the original paperwork that was done in 2009.

Loan Modification
I have been trying a loan modification since 2008 and it has been denied without even a reason about 5 times since then.
During the first 2 loan modifications I was actually up to date on my loan but after not being listened to and hearing from other people that I should stop paying the mortage I did.
It has now been 3 years, fighting with Chase and getting the run-around.
SInce then my credit has gone to hell, my income is lower, my house is worth less than half what my loan is, and I’m in default over 30k.
I feel completely tricked by Chase… and after seeing the Documentary “Inside Job” (won an oscar) it totally makes sense to me!
The banks are pretty much betting against their own loans and making money from defaults.

I’m about to cry after hearing one 5th time that my loan modification was denied because the application was incomplete. I too have kept a log of every conversation and every paperwork sent.

I’d love to find a good lawyer that can represent me.

My house is in Miami, FLorida.
I’ve been told at this point I can try another loan modification or a payment plan with the bank but a payment plan would actually increase my monthly payment so that’s pointless.

Do you have any suggestions? Anyone else in Florida?
What should I do?
I feel like I have a very strong case to sue the bank... beginning with the fact that my loan shouldn't even have happened... it's one of those the banks tagged as a good loan knowing it would probably end up in default and on top of that I was a good-paying customer until 2008 when Chase themselves advised me that a loan modification would not happen unless I was in default so I stopped paying... they tricked me into defaulting and then wasted 3 years until I had enough debt that I'd have to be forced to lose my home.

No Help
We bought a new home in 7/09 which is an FHA loan and Chase is the holder. In November of that same year my husband had his income cut by 40% and I was out of work. We contacted Chase about our situation and they stated that there was nothing they could offer us because we have not been in the loan for 12 months. So, we decided to put our home on the market and sell it because we couldn't afford the $1300.00 payments. We stayed in contact with Chase as they called us 5 times a week to tell us that we were late with the payment...? Our home is still for sale today and we are working with a shortsale attorney to get it sold and get rid of Chase! Chase agreed to a shortsale but not to help us with a payment modification???? WTF! It makes no sense. Now we are no longer living in the home and the home had a buyer and 2 weeks before the home closed the pipes burst in the home. The buyers pulled out of the deal, Chase sent out their home preservation crew (their insurance) and they refused to fix the damages even though they are the one's insuring it. The homes price has been reduced by $60, 000 all together since 11/09. We are trying to get Chase to let us keep the home and for them to pay for repairs so that it is not condemned. Why lord...

We WANT to pay our mortgage
Our balloon mortgage matured 6/08. (At the time, we were w/ Washington Mutual who was bought out by Chase.) We were unaware that our mortgage was going to mature. The mortgage maturity caused the bank to cancel our automatic monthly withdrawal. We were notified in 8/08 about the past due payments & worked with Sherry Blisset, Chase Home Loans in IL to modify the loan & reinstate monthly withdrawal from our bank account for payment who told us that this was a permanent fix. This 'fix' lasted only a few months when the withdrawals were again cancelled without our knowledge or consent.
We were notified several months later that our loan was again past due & we had to start the paperwork & loan modification all over again. (The paperwork & loan modifications take 20-30+ hours on the phone over several weeks w/ min. 10 people before you are transferred to the correct department. A colossal waste of time & money.) The 'permanent fix' & reinstated monthly withdrawal for mortgage payment again only lasted a few months when it was unexpectedly cancelled without our knowledge or consent, of which we were notified in October 2009.
For the third time, I have already spent over 60 hours on the telephone with numerous, numerous people trying to GIVE CHASE MONEY & fix our loan so that we can continue to make payments. The first nine people that I spoke with all said the same thing- They had no idea why, but they were unable to take any money from me, they could see the problem but had no idea how to fix it and also had absolutely no idea who I could speak with to fix the problem. They even acknowledged that while I am begging them to make a payment & they are refusing to take it, that they were going to continue to report the delinquent account to the credit agencies which is significantly negatively affecting overall credit scores & line of credit with our credit cards. The Loan modification department continues to tell us that we need to modify our loan. We have done this TWICE and it has not been a permanent fix either time. Filling out all of the same paperwork and submitting it for a THIRD time will most likely not be a permanent fix either. We would like a PERMANENT FIX.
So in a nut shell, we owe Chase money for our mortgage payments- I have repeatedly tried to give Chase the money owed- They refuse to take my money, don't know how to help or who can help fix my account and continue to report me to the credit agencies & seriously mess up my credit. We continue on-going attempts to work with Chase, currently with no positive outcome.
Our Desired outcome:
1. We would like to be able to make payments to Chase to have our account balance up to date. (How many people do you know who BEG to make their mortgage payment???)
2. We would like to have our mortgage PERMANENTLY 'fixed' so we are not running into the same problem every few months.
3. We would like to have the monthly payment withdrawal PERMANENTLY reinstated so that we can continue to make our mortgage payments ON TIME from our Chase bank account.
4. Most importantly, we would also like Chase to update the reporting with the credit agencies (going back over the last 1 + years) so that our credit is not negatively affected.
Please help us! We WANT to pay our mortgage and are devastated by the effect this (and the last two times this happened) is having on our credit. Prior to this, we did not have any negative marks on our credit reports. This is causing significant damage & we have no control & no way to fix our damaged credit which will haunt us for the next 7-10 years.
We are in Illinois. If anyone has any suggestions, we would LOVE help!

short sale
I am a realtor. I listed a home about 3 years ago. when it was first listed it was not a short sale. After WAMU KEPT payments and put the home into foreclosure, it became a short sale. Thats a whole different story of its own. After 2 contracts and a year of tring to deal with Chase to sell it, and, unable to becasue of lack of knowledge on there part, know return phone calls, no idea who's handling the file, expierd paper work due to there mis happs, saying they didn't get the paper work (I have all faxes recipts) and 13 negotatiors later. I called chase Jan 2010, told them I was unable to sell the home, why I was unable to so.. because they couldn't do the work. and to take it back. I then took it off the market and the sellers moved out. Shutting down all utlites. Chase called me in July 2010 and asked that I put it back on the market that they wanted to have an offer by the end of summer. I told them ok, but there was water in the basement, sever flooding and mold, the only way I would do it was if they would work with me. I was assured property prev. would go and handle the property. NEVER HAPPENED!!! (now IL weather pipes are sure to be frozen.) Got a contract on it, cash offer, was denied. I spoke with Chase and I was told they would take 231, 750. Got another offer for that $ amount. They denied it said it wasn't enough, I was told that the women who gave me that figure was wrong. Isn't this all the same bank with the same numbers??? On top of that the BPO was a 210, 000... They don't know there right hand from there left over there. This is just a small briefing of what is going on. I now have been told I would be pd for a deed in liu, Ya know what I have so much into this I want a pay check. I can't sell the home so we did that Jan 9th 2011, is when all paper work went over. I call once a week and I have NEVER gotten a call back. I have so much proof on this file I will take it to the IDFPR when this is said and done. I have had it.

Tax escrow compounding shenanigans
After unsuccessfully attempting a mortgage modification, Chase saw fit to compound our property tax payments into our monthly payment. Per public records, our property tax is approximately $20k per year; Chase has seen fit to impound $4786/month, or $45k- twice the amount due on our tax bill. Chase 'customer service' says it can't help, talk to the Escrow department; the Escrow department does not have public telephone numbers so I am pursuing other avenues to get this resolved. If I can without resort to a law suit of some sort, which IMHO I believe may be the only way to get their attention. This has been going on now for months and months. (Of course, if you don't pay exactly what the statement says, Chase puts the payment into 'suspense' and hits your credit with a 30 day late charge. Just wonderful.)

Don't use Chase or recommend anyone to use them-- for loans, banking, cards, whatever.
