HELOC
My uncle secured a HELOC for $50k from Chase in 2008 to buy a wheelchair-accessible van for my aunt, who died in Oct, 2009. My uncle died 10 days later. I was named executrix. The attorney for my uncle’s estate sent Chase the death certif. and my letter of authority in November, 2009. The branch also sent these documents to Chase Home Finance and I sent them several times. However, Chase refused to speak to me about the HELOC! I called and emailed several times and they said they had no proof I was the executrix!
In early May, I received a letter from Chase attorneys stating they had sued us! I guess they decided I WAS the executrix. The balance on the HELOC was approximately $40, 500.
I sold my uncle's house and at closing on May 17, 2010, the title company discovered Chase had never recorded the lien against the house! So the payoff was delayed. Chase was paid on May 20, 2010 and they KEPT $2800 from the proceeds for attorney fees!!
Finally in June I spoke to someone in their ”executive office” who said it would be investigated. Yesterday I heard from Chase that they will NOT refund the $2800.
Chase has a website devoted to helping their customers with foreclosure, but they never offered that help to me for my deceased uncle’s estate. THEY WOULD NOT SPEAK TO ME!
This is how they treat their customers who die! This is appalling to say the least!!
On behalf of my deceased uncle who had very little, I want this $2800 returned to us! This is pocket change to Chase. This must be resolved for my precious uncle and all others who may be treated this way by Chase Home Finance!

They keep requesting the same paperwork which i keep faxing to them
I been working with them since April. They keep requesting the same paperwork which i keep faxing to them. I know that they are receiving it because i call the next day. It is the middle of june and i have been on disability for four months from work. Now i am getting the run around where they transfer me 5 times and have me on hold for up to 20minutes. they denied my claim twice based on their opinion that i am not sending the paperwork which i have recorded as being sent. I am keep record of everything. And i will be looking at legal help shortly if they cannot get their responsibility in order. I am a big fan of companies taking responsibilities but when they don't i am glad to get the Government involved because it is our money that they gave to the bank to help the consumer not to fatten the ceo bonus!!!

My advice - stay away from Chase
Chase took a double payment in about of 4000.00 i called to ask why this was done and they said sorry for the inconveence and the money should be there within 72 hrs. But there was no fund transfered so I have to call them again today and they said well it takes 15 days to reverse this. so i had to talk to a supervisor who asked me to fax my bank statment and i said well okay faxed it got confirmation # that it went right. so I have waited for the supervisor to call and she did not so I have to call again and again and again their respose is the supervisor is busy they will call you give my cell okay no call. there was overdraft fees and other payment penalties and two kids but they just don't care oh we appolgize for this and that so finally i get to talk to supervisor after telling them i'm writing on consumer affair and will have even to sue for the money then bingo a supervosor who seems to be cooperative and told me to reverse the double payment within 48 hr:) my advice stay away from Chase.

loan modification
Have been going through the loan modification process since 12-09 with Chase Bank only to have them stall for enough time that the information I submitted expired. Every time I call to check on the status I am told that they need additional information which I send certified mail and also fax to them using my Chase branch to fax this information, receiving verification of the fax. Now I am told my file has been CLOSED. I cannot find out who closed my file, no one will return my phone calls. This is such a scam. Chase is not going to help anyone.

Mortgage Extension Request
Every complaint I have read on this site matches ALL the complaints I have regarding Chase Home Finance. My husband and ran into trouble paying our mortgage when he lost his job in 2007. We thought Chase was helping us when they approved us for a modification, after almost a year of countless phone calls, faxes of documents, and aggravation beyond aggravation in retelling our circumstances to every person who happened to pick up the call. We were approved and had the papers notarized in April 2009, made a contribution payment, and our first new payment was due in June of 2009. We made these payments, and then I lost my job as a full time teacher. We continued to make our modification payments each month, but began to have trouble paying the escrow. Low and behold, when we thought we were finally able to pay the back escrow...Chase informed us that we owed much more than that! They had been taking our monthly payments and hanging them in a suspense account, charging us late fees, as well as fees to have the home assessed to make sure it was in liveable condition, and applying our payments when they saw fit. NEXT...we were advised to request an extension on the account to bring it current, otherwise the monies wouldn't be applied appropriately, and we would have more headaches. REALLY??? Well...we applied for the extension, were faxed documentation regarding the amount we had to send in, and we sent it in (almost $6, 000), return receipt requested so we had proof that it was in by their deadline of May24, 2010. Guess what...we were told that it wasn't received in time and we needed to send one more escrow payment of $802. We tried to fight it verbally over the phone, but eventually agreed to send it in because we were told we would have to anyway, and we would be saving ourselves the $1, 400 of the modification payment for the month of June. We were also told that this would bring our account current. I continued to call to verify if the payment was received and applied because I did not get my return receipt card back this time, and when I finally got through I was passed onto the supervisor who informed me that we still needed to send another $2, 200. All of this, AFTER we had been told we were approved for the extension! Oh, and did I mention that the first return receipt card was stamped by someone at Chase on May 24...the deadline which they told me we neede to meet...and when I finally received the second card from the extra payment we made, it wasn't stamped by anyone, nor did it bare a date of receipt. I have filed a complaint with the OCC (Office of the Comptroller of Currency), and continue to fight this tooth and nail. Chase wants to play GOD and control our lives, but they were no where in sight when we lost our jobs and couldn't control that!!!

Loan Modification SCAM!
I am dealing with the same thing with Chase Home Finance. This loan modification process has been going on for 11 months! At the beginning of the loan mod process - They never informed me that the loan modification payments would be considered less than an actual payment, thus making me have "rolling lates" - consistent late payments. Now my credit is even worse. Actually, I could have paid the actual mortgage payment when I started the process, but they kept telling me to "keep making the trial payments - keep sending them in." The loan mod process is still not complete! I had no idea about predatory refinancing/ or loan modifying until now.
Just 2 months ago, They denied my loan mod for "failure to provide documents" (which is BS I've sent them many, many, many documents 100 times over) and then they have the gumption to mail a letter denying my loan mod - to the property address. The only thing is that I don't live at the property address!!! It is a rental (I'm living with my boyfriend because I can't afford the payments) my tenant lives there. So the letter was returned to chase. I never saw that letter ever. A month later, the next thing I see is an Accelerated Foreclosure letter sent to my Mailing Address (where I actually live and they know I live there!!) stating that I haven't made a payment in 15 months!! This is untrue as I have been making the advised montly "trial payments" based on their guidance. Only the trial payments are less than optimal and not a full payment - leading to delinquency!!
So, when if/when I finally get a new interest rate with this Phantom Loan Mod- it will be based on a higher rate based on poor credit showing "delinquent rolling lates." Thank you, Chase, for messing up my credit!! You're the BEST!!

Stay away from Chase Home Finance
Filed for modification on March 4, 2009. Now almost 15 months later they tell me I am not assigned to a negotiator anymore. I have paid every trial mod payment on time for going on 8 months and have had all my documents perfected for months. Yet no-one can tell me anything. Why did I loose my second negotiator? So, who is working on it.

Loan Modification
Chase approved my loan modification and after 3 months of no contact from chase and no credit for my payments, I called them after receiving intent to forclose and they pulled my modification without a reason and said they would be in contact with me after reviewing my modification. They have seriously poor services and im finding this breach of contract illegal but dont know who to turn to for help. I have lived here 2+ years and they have been a major pain and now want to take my home. I am finding after some research that im just one of many people with this problem.

Unresponsive
I have a ten-year home mortgage that was refinanced with Chase in 2003. I pay my own property taxes and insurance (i.e., no escrow account).
March 18, 2010--Chase sent a letter accusing me of being delinquent on my property taxes and threatening to pay them for me and set up an escrow account for all future payments.
My taxing authority allows for semi-annual payments, due Nov 30 and June 30 each year. I had paid in November; June was not yet due. After calling my tax authority (who did NOT report me as delinquent), I called Chase and learned that I need only send copies of my receipts to clear this up.
March 23, 2010--Certified letter to Chase with a copy of the receipt for November payment, and explanation that my taxing authority allows installment payments. Next payment due in June. Requested they respond that this was sufficient documentation to resolve the problem.
May 19, 2010--Chase writes to tell me that they still consider me to be delinquent, that they paid my "delinquent" taxes for me and have established an escrow account.
May 21, 2010--I received the May 19 letter, too late to make any phone calls.
May 24, 2010--Began making telephone calls to Chase and my taxing authority. In the process, I learned that Chase's third party tax agent, First American, had made a mistake in pulling "delinquent" accounts, and forgot to exclude people who were on installment payments. This had impacted about 200 people in my county alone. Chase was aware of the problem, but they did not communicate it to the low-level "customer service" representatives, nor to their supervisors.
After many calls, transfers and a lot of on-hold time, I learned that because they didn't have a letter from my taxing authority SAYING that I could pay in installments, they still considered my account delinquent.
May 27, 2010--I faxed and sent certified mail the requested documentation, with a request that the escrow account be "unestablished" as it was inappropriately enacted. I requested a response.
June 3, 2010--Chase sent a letter notifying me that they had received a past-due bill from my tax authority (not true) for the property taxes and had sent a check and established an escrow account.
June 4, 2010--I received the June 3 letter and called Chase again. After much run around (customer service can't help, you need to talk to the Tax Dept. Tax Dept. can't help, you need to talk to Escrow Dept. Escrow Dept. can't help, you need to talk to Tax Dept. All while being on hold in between with really annoying repetitive "music."), I finally got to speak to a supervisor who seemed to understand what happened and opened a "work order" for me. Supposedly, the only thing that needed to happen was for my tax authority to return Chase's check back and everything will be resolved. If I had any more questions, I should be able to get assistance by just referring to the work order number.
My tax authority meanwhile was collecting a number of Chase's checks, which they were not cashing and planned to return, but they could not get anyone at Chase to tell them where to send them.
June 7, 2010--I paid my remaining balance on the property tax and faxed a copy of the receipt to Chase. I also sent a copy by certified mail.
June 10, 2010--I received yet another "nasty-gram" from Chase about how much I would be required to pay on July 1 as a result of my being delinquent in paying my taxes. I called Chase again, with the work order number. Short story--it did no good. Customer service routed me to Tax who routed me to Escrow. The fellow in Escrow was very condescending and patronizing, saying I MUST have done something wrong, or this would have been resolved. He also tried to route me back to Tax Dept. I requested to speak to a supervisor; he sent me back to Customer Service, where I stayed on hold for about half an hour before their service department closed. I heard "We're sorry, but our offices are now closed..." and I was disconnected.
June 11, 2010--I obtained a letter from my tax office to Chase explaining that I had not been delinquent, that I was on an installment payment plan, and that they were returning Chase's check. I faxed this document to Chase and also sent it certified mail.
To summarize, this problem should never have happened, especially after I sent in documentation showing Chase was wrong. I had to force them to acknowledge having the documentation when I told them I had the certified mail receipts and the fax confirmations. Even though they were looking at the proof, they said nothing could be done until they got their money back.
It is my position that it was Chase's mistake sending the check in the first place, and that it is between them and the tax office. I shouldn't have to correct--or pay for--their mistake, nor do I have any leverage at the tax office to force them to send the checks back. (The tax office told me they will be returning the checks early next week, but it may take up to 30 days for Chase to acknowledge having them. My next mortgage payment, with the escrow assessment tacked on, is due before that.)
As soon as I get this cleared up, I will be paying off the loan and getting Chase out of my life. I just pray there are no more screw-ups before then. (And there is a whole other story about their harassment regarding how much insurance I carry on this property.)
Proposed resolution: reverse the establishment of the escrow account and revert my monthly payments back to what they have always been. A letter of apology would be nice, too.
Thank you for reading this lengthy rant. I hope it helps others.

Try having a modification approved after a year of submitting paperwork just to find out six months later it was reversed
Try having a modification approved after a year of submitting paperwork just to find out six months later it was reversed, without letting me know anything, they just starting sending new applications to apply if I was having trouble making payments as scheduled by them on time and my payments were NOT even reduced. They added what I was behind on to the end of the loan and apr dropped 1/2% only. Now for the past 3 weeks of calling I'm stilling no closer to getting an answer.
