Me and my husband decide to buy our first home, both assuming this is going to be a fun and exciting experience. I call Chase and start working with a loan agent named Jay. We qualified for an FHA loan. 1 week later he is not returning my calls anymore. I called the main line and told he has left and someone else will take over. So another loan agent (Tom)calls and said he is a Supervisor and will be handling all of his clients. Ok great, I would rather work with a Supervisor! Tom is great, handling everything in a timely manner. Told us what we qualified for.
So we start shopping, after a couple months we start submitting our offers. We get turned down a few times. Then we find our perfect home. We submit an offer and it gets accepted! WOW! But it must close within 30 days, Tom works and gets this done for us. Our closing date is 12/15/08. So close to Christmas, we know its going to be hard but we went for it!
We paid the $225 app fee. We send the seller a $2, 000 good faith deposit check. The appraiser said we needed to fix some things in the home to make it acceptable. Another $100. Now they want to see the closing costs in our account. So we get a gift for $10, 000. This all seems acceptable and normal, so we dont have any problem with it.
Now my husband owns his own business and has trouble proving his income. But since there is a steady $4, 000 deposited into his bank account montly, they said no problem. So we keep submitted both our paperwork. I am very excited and jump the gun and start packing. Ive packed half my house. Then a couple days ago, we received a call that we were denied. WHAT!?
So we try calling our loan agent (Tom) but is not in, the next morning still not in. Then we find out he will not be working with us anymore and we find out he is not even a supervisor. He lied to us! We now have to work with Shaun, she is the most rude person to have to work with. She told us they couldnt include my husbands income and our DTI was too high, but if we pay off our debt everything would be fine. She even confirmed this with her supervisor.
So we get another gift of $8, 000. We are trying to do all this during our work day. They want a formal gift letter, a copy of the check, a copy of our statement with the money, and a copy of the bank statement of where it came from, and a notorization. So we do all this. There is now $20, 225 involved.
We are panicking now, but we are willing to do whatever it takes to get this home. Its absolutely perfect for us and our 2 babies! I called Shaun the next morning to make sure she received all our paperwork and she said that she just submitted it again to the underwriter without including all this paperwork that would make the loan get accepted. Then she told me Well once the underwriter has made a decision, they cant just change their mind or tweak the system to now accept your loan I asked then why she made us do all this work for nothing, (it was hard enough to have to ask someone for that amount of money) she said if she happens to get the file back from the underwriter then shell just stick the paperwork inside it. Now this just doesnt make any sense!
So my husband calls very angry and yells at her to do this correctly for us, and said he will report her to her supervisor, but she said there is no supervisor around. He calls and gets a supervisor on the line and complains about her, then right away on that call we are told we will not get a loan thru them and no matter what gifts or what paperwork we were trying to submit would have never worked anyway. Although the day before we were told this wouldnt be a problem because theyve seen alot of this happening to business owners, but they would help us and it would be no problem. She also told us we dont qualify for $220, 000. But they gave us a pre-approval to shop for this amount.
So now we are very dissapointed, half way packed, and very angry! I absolutely hate Chase and I absolutely hate Shaun. What is her problem? They dont care about people! Luckily our rental office does and took back the 30 day we gave them. They said we were good people and never late on a payment so they would love to keep us as renters in their home. I HATE CHASE!
