Sketchy Charges?
So I was irresponsible and over drafted onto my chase account. Which I have happened to do almost every month for quite some time now.
I would always receive a "Service Fee" Of whatever amount was left in my account ($10 or Less) each month around the middle of the month. I would never get a notification of this fee, or a something saying "Hey, were going to take $10 from you like it or not, Hope you don't mind". After a few months of this, I find out its because of the over drafts. And I over draft because my account will show I have a certain amount left, so I use it (since I'm unemployed, every penny counts), and find that I'm any wheres from $1-10 under. I have to spend MY TIME talking to CSR's, trying to get this settled, and to get my $35 overdraft fee(s) back. That I never would have received if I didn't get the service charge from the previous months overdraft from the service charge the charged me from the previous month, and so on. You get the hint. I thought I had everything fixed.
I ran into some problems, and over drafted. Due to my own fault this time. Well, it should only be one charge from what my records indicated, but I look on chase's website, and its showing 6! The 6 smallest debit charges show up at the top, which will give me 6 $35 charges. Equaling a whopping $210 in over draft fee's for 26.33 in overdraft fees.
And it shouldn't even be that high. I didn't have much room left on my overdraft protection (Like I said, I'm unemployed, Times are tough.), It maxed out that card, as well as packed on another $10 charge to my account, before my account even started to be over drafted.

Loan Modification
I have applied to Obama's loan modification plan for my owner-occupied and my primary residence in May due to a financial hardship caused by the recession. I submitted documentation as requested in May and again in July verifying my income and my residence and the hardship. Chase never sent me any documentation showing that more detail documentation is needed or requiring more information for documentation. As of yet Chase has been unwilling to give me a loan modification and is choosing not to proceed with the modification while my payments are up to date because it is more equitable financial beneficial for Chase to foreclose on my house.
The Obama plan encourages a loan modification while your mortgage payments are up to date. Chase is choosing my path for me and is putting me on the path of forbearance and then foreclosure. Chase is claiming this is all part of the process. It is more beneficial for the bank to foreclose on property that has equity in the house then assist them. Chase is not offering any assistance and is choosing to drag their feet. Foreclosure gives them more value for my house.
The following are examples of Chase’s customers who have followed their advice and have their homes in foreclosure.

http://beta.ripoffreport.com/Mortgage-Companies/Chase-Home-Finance/chase-home-finance-jp-morgan-eky5a.htm
Chase is willing to foreclose on my house tomorrow but has not done a loan modification on my loan when I applied in May. Also, Chris, the manager recently in July said I would not be able to be approved unless I could prove I have 9 months of unemployment. By Chase prolonging me from obtaining a loan modification I no longer have 9 months of unemployment and this rule was never told to me in the beginning. Chase did not play by fair rules and is doing everything possible to prevent me from obtaining a modification. I am questioning this practice of delaying processing my loan modification and then have me go into foreclosure. This is an unfair advantage that the lender is creating this business practice policy 9- month rule. This does not act as a fair lender.
I contacted Fannie Mae to see if I could speed up the loan modification. Fannie Mae told me I had to work through the bank servicing my loan which is Chase. I then asked about the different rules and programs for loan modifications. Fannie Mae told me that the bank knows the rules and the public do not need to know the rules. I asked about the 9- month rule on loan modifications and he referred me to the bank servicing my loan.
I believe that Chase is not planning on giving me a loan modification. And rather foreclose.
Chase took $25 billion in Tarp funds which I gave through my taxes to stabilize the financial institution. Chase then took $178 billion for a stimulus package which I paid for through my taxes. This assistance prevents Chase from going belly up. And now I need assistance during a recession until I find a job. They want to foreclose on my house so they could raise money to pay the Tarp funds back and give bonuses to thousands of employees. I am outraged. I would like to state that it is a real failure of fiscal stewardship for us to pretend that these dollars are being used to help people stay in their homes and the dollars are being used for anything other than what their purpose was. I am severely paying for the banks choice to allow sub-prime rates and never was involved in sub-prime rates.

Poor Customer Service
I was going to deposit $100.00 into my brother in law's account today when I noticed that the stupid metal rod was not holding the money down it was 1 $100 bill and the deposit slip. When I told the rep that it was not holding the money down she retracted the tray in which caused the money to fly away I quickly jumped out of my truck looking for it ... It was gone and while I was looking my wife says the rep was laughing and wouldn't even try to apologize. I complained to her about it and somehow she was upset that I was upset with her. If the damn tray had been working properly I wouldnt have lost my money.

CHASE CANCELS WAMU CREDIT CARDS
It took me about 1 minute online to come across countless others whose credit cards Chase had decided, without cause, to close. I received the very same generic letter from Chase on July 29, 2009. It stated the same 3 bogus alleged reasons for their action: Total available credit on bankcards is too low; Too few open accounts with time on file greater than 24 months; Current or history of severe past due or Public Record item. None of these apply to me. I have never been late in payment to them, always paid almost double the minimum payments, and my account was closed in good standing. Isn't that an oxymoron? Yes I think so. I too was instructed by Chase non-customer service to obtain my Experian report which I did. There is nothing on it. In fact it is the very same report as the one upon which the credit card was issued in the first place. How can they legally issue then cancel a card based on the very same report? I too was a WAMU card holder that Chase took over which seems like it may be a contributing factor to many of us receiving this letter, another questionable legal action that warrants further investigation. If you look on the back of the letter you received, at the very bottom of the page you will see the following notation. “WamuClosure1”. This seems rather overwhelming evidence to me that they are targeting Wamu cards. When I asked the customer non-service rep with whom I could speak in management regarding this decision, I was told that the credit dept management did not take customer calls. Really? Well isn't that just a perfect solution to assuming any culpability for your questionable action and oh so very typical. I also inquired as to whether they were certain the action they had taken was legal based upon the recent credit card legislation in Congress. I received a rambling incoherent response to this and was then promptly dismissed. I think it bears mentioning that CHASE RECEIVED $20 BILLION IN GOVERNMENT BAILOUT MONEY. That is our money! We the taxpayers bailed them out and this is how they treat their customers. This is simply not right. Something needs to be done. Their actions should have consequences. We did not bail them out only to have our accounts in good standing cancelled. In the midst of a recession, people wonder why the banks are recording record profits while the economy remains stagnate. Well, the despicable business practice of Chase provides clarity to that answer. Corporate profits above all else and the little guy be damned. Until such time as these mega corporations are prevented from cancelling customers in good standing to better their bottom line the economy will suffer. This was not how the bailout was supposed to work. They know it but unfortunately they also know they can get away with it. If anyone knows of any potential recourse we have against this by all means count me in. Enough is enough.

Discriminating against former WaMu credit card holders
Both my wife and I each had WaMu credit card accounts, recently taken over by Chase in the WaMu acquisition. Like most former WaMu customers in good account standing (going on the many complaints now appearing online) we too had an absolutely perfect record on our WaMu credit card accounts of 3 years. In fact, all of our credit cards have zero default history: paid on time, paid early, always more than minimum payment etc etc.
Chase closed our WaMu accounts in a completely discriminatory manner. Refused to talk with us, told us it was all based on our Experian Reports, they had no further comments, and that a letter was in the mail. FUNNY THING IS: we received a mailing with our two NEW Chase Credit cards to replace the WaMu cards then, next day, an additional mailing to say those accounts were now closed.
Customer loyalty counts for nothing with Chase. What has us angry is the manner in which our accounts were closed without notice. We had a small vacation fund saved, loaded onto one of our WaMu cards, went to Europe on a vacation, and had to suffer the embarrassment of sitting in a restaurant with friends to be told BOTH our WaMu cards were declined. We called from Europe on the phone to be told by a Chase representative "it is what it is, can't help you, go talk to Experian ... and I hope you enjoy the remainder of your vacation!"
Customer loyalty, excellent track record in the handling of ALL our credit card accounts, not just WaMu/Chase, never ever defaulted in any manner, and this is the thanks and the way Chase treats my wife and I on inheriting our WaMu accounts. I asked about the possibility of reopening the accounts, and their response was "not going to happen." Reading all the complaints based on Chase's obvious campaign to throw WaMu customers to the curb, I hope a well deserving Class Action Lawsuit comes out of all this.

Outrageous charges
I had a Circuit City card to take advantage of their no interest promotion. We bought several items, and I was ready to pay the bill when it arrived. Guess what? It never arrived, and weeks later I get a late notice. I spoke with their customer service and explained to her that I never received the first notice and she says that happens a lot, and she removed the late charge. So far so good. Well, some of the items that Circuit City had marked as no interest, Chase charged me interest for. Also, I sent my payment in a week early for one of my statements, knowing that it would get there on time, but by my next statement I had a 60 dollar late fee!! Where do they get off charging me that much for a late fee?! I called customer service and asked them to explain, they said my payment was a day late. Sure! How about my payment was late because they didn't get around to processing it until a day after it was due!! I simply paid off my card in full, cancelled it, and vowed to NEVER have a card where Chase had anything to do with it. That includes my Kohl's card, which I cancelled the second I learned that Chase had taken over the funding of it. Chase is bad news people!! They will cheat you out of your money by pulling these little scams on you. Not sending you your first bill so your payment will be late and they can assess their outragous late charge, and withholding your payment until the day after it is due.

Customer Service
My old room mate and I shared a cell phone, and she had a Chase credit card. She moved out and became homeless, and I have no way of contacting her. Chase repeatedly calls me, sometimes 7 times a day starting very early, asking for her. I have repeatedly told them she doesn't live here anymore, so they start yelling at me! This is rediculous. I remember when she started having financial trouble and told them they would get the money as soon as she had it, and they would call back 5 minutes later asking for money again. Everytime they called, it cost us money that she could be paying them. She told them that once and they got furious.
They also need customer service that don't speak butchered English. If they want cooperation..well its hard to cooperate when you can't understand what somebody is saying.
I wish they would quit calling me. She doesn't live here anymore. She doesn't have a phone that they can get ahold of her at. If she's homeless, I doubt she can pay off her bill.

Harassment
Since October 2006, Chase Home Finance has taken 48 extra payments by cashing checks multiple times (one NINE times). Meanwhile, they are harassing me for late payments and have damaged my credit rating severely. They have sent three letters stating that they corrected my credit rating, but that has not happened. I have contacted them EVERY MONTH since January 2007, when they held a payment until they could collect a late charge, then cashed it. I have written and mailed a payment each and every month. In the last three months they have returned eight ORIGINAL checks with letters stating that they are copies, and as such they can not be cashed. My ban (not Chase) has provided me with copies of 48 CASHED checks and there are some additional where they have done the ACH AND THE CHECK. I have also proveded copies of the bank statements requested. I have asked Chase for an annotated (with check numbers) payment history so I can determine WHICH CHECKS they have not given me credit for. In return they ask me for bank statements WITH THE RETURNED ITEMS LISTED...there are no returned items, as I took out a line of credit to finance the "Chase mess". That line of credit has subsequently been terminated for my bad credit rating caused by Chase (false reporting of foreclosure). I have also gotten letters from my bank (not Chase) stating that the attached statements (reconstructed) are accurate and that the checks are bank copies. That banker also raised a concern about the length of time Chas holds item before cashing (up to six months!).
On the credit card side, Chase started in March 2008 to double, triple and quadruple charge me for gas charges. I put in complaints. I was comparing my gas charges with October 2007 and, with the same usage my gas charges were SIX TIMES AS MUCH...not the rate of the price increases at the pumps! I was finally referred to the Fraud Unit, where I was told that they had discovered a second credit card had been created for my account, so they FORCED CLOSED the account and started a new one with a new number. Additionally, the fraud unti DEMANDED that I go online and enter as an online user, bring all my Chase accounts together. I then noticed that the problem spread to the other THREE creits cards and Chase would no longer take ANY CHECKS as payment on my accounts, including the mortgage. I continued to pay my bills, resulting in large credit balances, to avoid the late charges and interest threatened while they investigated. Last week I recieved a letter stating tha tthey were now going to charge my NEW account, which I haven't activated, but it has been used, WITH ALL THE CHARGES THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY DETERMINED TO BE UNAUTHORIZED AND DUPLICATE BECAUSE THEY HAD CONCLUDED THEIR INVESTIGATION!
I have lost $48, 242.52 to Chase Mortgage and $6210.37 to Chase Credit, while they continue to harass me for "non-payment".
