credit card customer service
Below is a cc of the letter I sent to Chase this afternoon:
I am absolutely disheartened by the behavior of the credit services department for chases credit card department. My account had gone into a credit services program and I had the opportunity to pay the full balance off. CESI contact Chase on 04/03 to get a pay off. They were given an amount valid until 04/28. On 04/23 the payment posted on my account at this time I had a credit balance. CESI also mailed in the drop letter for my account with the payment to signify that my enrollment in their program was completed. Chase decided to process my drop letter before processing the payment to my account therefore I was charged the 27percent rate for the balance at that time and had a balance showing due of $69. I saw this and immediately called into Chase to verify that this was or was not something I was to pay. I was told by a representative OF CHASE that the balance was not a final balance and that it would take a statement cycle for everything on this account to be cleared up and that I need not worry about this balance at this time. So on my advice from A CHASE REPRESENTATIVE I did not make the payment; I waited. Then I notice this month that instead of the balance going away or down it has increased due to a late fee. I called to find out what this was all about and see what was going on. I spoke with an incredibly unhelpful and rude associate and was then transferred to Emily Richie out of the Oklahoma office to see if perhaps she could help me. She listened to my story as I have explained it above and put me on hold to research. She came back and explained the $69 and the late fee and that we are looking at a timing issue here. She then REFUSED to transfer me to her supervisor Chris Bailey. I am furious and deeply sadden. I have been a Chase customer and a RETURNING Chase customer for 10 years now. I have stayed with Chase based on their customer service. Apparently since I fell on hard times and had problems paying my bill I no longer matter as a customer, especially to the credit services department. I was spoken to today like I hadn't paid my bill in years. I worked hard to make sure that I made everything right with Chase and all of my creditors and have done so. It seems, however, that Chase doesn’t t feel it necessary to make things right with their customers.
I would like to have these amounts removed from my account and my balance zero d. I think that these charges are unethical and the method in which they were applied completely goes against everything that Chase has always stood for in a banking partner. Please have someone contact me.

I am still waiting on a response

Raise APR
I got a notice in the mail today from Chase that in order to "maintain profitability on my account" they are raising my interest rate from 10% to 13.24%.

I told them it's not to "maintain profitability" it's to INCREASE profitability because they're already maintaining profitability with the rate I currently have. I went through 3 different levels of supervisors and they all cited vague economic reasons for the rate hike and increased risk. And apparently no one in the whole corporation can do anything about it. I was told several times that I have the option of closing my account and keeping my current rate. Yeah, the part they fail to mention is that that will hurt my credit score, thereby perhaps triggering rate hikes on other cards!

Where's the increased risk with me? I've never missed a payment or even been late. I told them it's crap, and a terrible way to reward loyal customers.

It's my fault that I have a fairly high balance on the card to begin with, but this prompts me to do everything I can to pay that sucker off QUICK. And try to avoid dealings with Chase in the future.

credit card
I had a chase credit card a few years ago. I closed the account because after 2 years, the card was still the same $300 credit line. (Yes, I have asked a credit line increase and the request was declined.)

Now I have another Chase card, which was owned by Wamu when I applied. (Of course, this was not my intention after the previous experience.) It went over the limit and I admit that was my mistake. I checked my balance before using the card to make sure enough fund available, but I forgot about the finance charge. This was also when the ownership changed and the interest rate was increased. I called them to ask to remove the fee and none of them was able to do that even though I have been a good customer, never paid late, never went over the limit, and paying more than minimum. It is their ridiculous policy: they can not remove over limit fees no matter what situation you are in.

I am closing my account and will never have their card again.

Loan Modification in sixth month
I contacted HopeNow in November 2008. Every month since Chase has asked me for additional documents. Now I am being told they are overwhelmed. How is this helping people? I believe it to be a scam. I owe less than 1/8th of the value of my home and I now expect Chase will try to get me into foreclosure. What can I do. Pleading doesn't help.

Raise APR for no reason
I have (more like had) been a customer of Chase for almost 10 years. Never one late payment and I consistently carried a modest balance on my 2 Chase cards. Mainly to benefit from the rewards programs.

Over the last few months I received notification in the mail, in the fine legalese print they love so much, that my APR was going from a fixed APR (8.9%) to a Prime plus 9.99 variable rate. When I called to find out why this was happening I was told it was a change happening to all Chase accounts and there was nothing I could do about it. They were very rude and exhibited little customer service. Their attitude was too bad for you, we can do want we want. This must have been the outsourced customer service to India that our $25 billion federal bailout money paid for.

Well they were wrong, there is plenty I can do.

1. I transferred my balances to a better card (BBT) with a low fixed rate and $0 transfer fee.

2. I am telling everyone I can to watch out for Chase and do not do business with them. Their hope is that no one will read the fine print while they increase interest gains trying to make up for years of bad lending practices.

Hopefully there will be justice and companies like this will get what's coming to them. Read every notice you get from your banks and credit cards as it seems lots of financial companies are trying to stick it to their good customers for the company's bad dealings.

The next big crash will be in the credit card sector and companies like Chase will be begging for more bailouts and help. I hope all they get is a "too bad for you" then. We should never have bailed out vulture lenders like this to begin with and I hate that they got paid off by the US and still are trying to stick it to their customers.

LATE FEE FRAUD & OTRAGEOUS APR INCREASE
I had a credit card with Washington Mutual for over a year and a half. When WaMu went south, I took my money out of the bank and opened up an account with Wells Fargo. I kept the credit card, which was taken over by CHASE. Well, I had not missed a payment in over a year and a half. The payment date was changed and because I pay bills online, I happened to miss the payment date by five days. When I looked at the bill I decided to call CHASE. I explained that as a loyal customer to WaMu, I was not currently working could they waive the late fee of $39.99 off of my bill.

Long and short. I talked to four different customer service reps. Each one was a supervisor of the last one I spoke to. I explained my situation and that I had never been late, could they waive the fee. Each time I was told that the Terms of their Agreement are clearly stated and they do not under any circumstance waive fees. At this point I am steaming mad. I then look down at my statement and see that my APR went from 14% to ARE YOU READY FOR THIS - 29.99%!!! Are you f-in kidding me?

I then remembered that the nice gentleman at the bank just last week said I was approved for any credit card transfer for a 0% fee for six months!! So, I proceeded to let them know that "when I hang up this phone, I am driving down to my bank and giving my bank my business, because what you are doing is a FLEECING of AMERICA! This is a LATE TRAP! Told them I work in the media and I was going to take part with the rest of American's to boycott and tell the world that CHASE is a FRAUD! I'm making every effort to make my payment on time and the ONE time I am late because of confusion on my payment date - THEY RIP ME OFF!

Went to my bank where the nice representative Lana helped me to transfer my balance to a card at my bank. It took me all of 20 minutes to hang up my phone, get in my car and drive to my branch...smiling the whole way.

Then as I come out of the gym, I see a guy holding a sign at the Corner of Topanga/Ventura that says something like this "CHASE doesn’t keep promises" with a website...

Overcharged
Received a notice of important changes from Chase. As of my June, 2009 statement they are going to raise 'any' open account with a balance now or in the future 'Prime Rate plus 15.99%, which as of March 16, 2009 would be 19.24%'

I can agree to this 'raise' or loose my credit rating by rejecting the change. To quote their notice 'Your card will no longer be available for use for new activity, including purchases, as the account will be closed'.

I have a 2.99% rate for the life of the balance. They are the ones who contacted me and offered me the 2.99%. I certainly did not ask them for it. It was an offer made to me due to my good credit. So if I want to keep in good standing I can accept this outrageous 'offer' or take a hit against my good credit.

I am to feel sorry for 'CHASE' because of the 'market conditions'? I don't think so. I don't remember seeing a bailout check in my mailbox! I am not sure how to protest this. I received another 'notice' from Bank of America. When I called them they confirmed my account will be left open but I will get the higher rate because of the 'economic' conditions for them (this is another ripoff report to be sent). Give me a break.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is getting these 'notices' in the mail and what, if anything, can be done about it. I am going to email my state and federal representatives but really have little faith anything will be done by them as they are the ones who allowed the 'market conditions' to occur and also are the ones sending the checks to the banks.
