Chase Visa Reviews

Identity Theft
In January 2011 I was the victim on an assault and ID theft.

Four hours after the assault began Chase Visa recognized recognize apparent fraudulent activity occurring on my account and froze it; but not until $4200 was stolen. The crooks then went into my pocket and attacked my AmEx in the amount of $4800.

The next morning I was notified of the damages and I advised them that it was all fraudulent. I was advised to wait until the charges cleared on my account to lodge a dispute. They cleared and I lodge a dispute and filed a criminal complaint with the police. Three weeks later, while doing my corporate expense report, I discovered the AmEx fraud and I filed a dispute with them.

In March I was advised by Chase Visa that my dispute was being denied. They stated that the dispute is being denied on the grounds that they have my signatures and that anybody can file a police report. With those statements they accused me of being a felon.

The signatures are forgeries and with their actions they are siding with the certified felon, according to Google, and against a long and honest business relationship.

AmEx, on the other hand, has recognize obvious fraudulent activity and has back charged $4800. They are also prosecuting the criminal merchant.

Why are there such different outcomes? Before Chase Visa starts accusing honest citizens of felonies they should look at their own actions. They are projecting their felonious activities on to individuals that don't have the financial resources to defend their reputations.

My positions has been and will always be that I will not pay for fraudulent charges on my visa card.

I retained an attorney that will assist me in any actions that Chase Visa initiates against me. My attorney states that with a $10, 000 retainer he will sue them for violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act. He also advised me that they have very deep pockets and that it difficult to prevail in such a dispute and that I would be liable for their court cost.

Travel REWARDS
We earned 50.000 miles of credit on our Chase rewards card, paid the annual fee and then they cancelled our card a month later explaining that we also lost the miles when they cancelled us. We checked our credit report and it was excellent. Does anyone know how I can get this resolved?

Interest charges after closing account
I paid my Chase Visa balance in full and requested the account be closed. The following month I received a statement saying I owed them $50 in interest charges. I called and got someone who could barely speak english that said it was 'impossible' to reverse these charges. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he argued with me for 5 minutes about how his supervisor couldn't do anything differently. I had to ask 4 more times to speak to the supervisor and I finally was connected to her. She kept telling me that I had to pay the balance in full for two consecutive months before interest charges would stop accruing. I asked her how then, do interest charges EVER stop accruing? If you pay your balance in full there is nothing to charge interest for. Do not do business with this dishonest, customer-gouging company! They got their bailout and do everything they can to squeeze more and more money out of their customers. I think they are dishonest and criminal and told them so. They don't care about anything except making their executives richer.

Failure to acknowledge proven fraud
I purchased a painting that was represented (with full knowledge of fraud by seller) as original and done by an arts professor at Xian Academy of Fines Arts in China. Upon examination by an expert design professional, he quickly determined that the piece was not an original and was an inket print. Chase Visa first decided in my favor. The purchase took place on July 7th, 2009. I sent a protest in Sept. 09 after first calling them before August 17th (with a letter from the design professional) and Chase Visa sent a letter in my favor. Then, In January 2010 I recieve a letter (Dated December 17th, 2009 that my charge is reinstated. Upon protest, the specialist said becasuse he could not understand what the vendor said in his reply (the vender said clearly in a Chinese letter which I had translated) that the painting was original.
Since it is not original, the vendor also misrepresented the "art" to Chase. WHY SHOULD I BE CHARGED FOR A CONTRACT BASED ON FRAUD? FROM JULY to Jan. 2010 CHASE NEVER CONTACTED ME ABOUTT THE REVERSAL. IT IS VERY EASY TO FOLLOW THE PAOER TRAIL ON THIS ONE> AND THE CHASE "SPECILIST SAYS HE CAN'T SEE WHERE THE VENDOR REPRESENTS THE ART AS ORIGINAL IN HIS RESPONSE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THERE IN HIS RESPONSE>!! This needs action by CHASE UPPER MANAGEMENT. CHASE AGREES IN FEDERAL COURT TO ELIMINATE ARBITRATION, YET THEY SET RIDICULOUS ROADBLOCKS TO PROTECT A CUSTOMER THAT HAS BEEN A VICTEM OF FRAUD!!!

rewards program scam
Chase Visa Rewards Program several months ago offered a $50 extra reward if customers would wait until they had accrued $200 before requesting their cash reward. Not only did I wait several months, I began using the Chase Visa card almost exclusively in lieu of my preferred American Express card. Imagine my surprise today to find out they have discontinued this program. I think it is just a scam. They used it to delay people applying for their Rewards Program cash and had use of those funds that belonged to the customers in addition to customers racking up more charges on the cards. The customer service person I spoke to tonight who told me the program was discontinued in November said it was because of the economy--that is a blatant lie. The banks got all that bailout money and they are making money hand over fist and continue to scam customers. I think this should be illegal. There was no notice to me that the program was being discontinued--it just disappeared from the Rewards Program. I have had other issues with Chase Visa in the past and now I am just done with them. I probably won't cancel my account because this could hurt my excellent credit rating, but I definitely will not use the card again unless absolutely necessary and may get another Visa card from a different bank.

Onerous late fee; abusive, arrogant treatment
I have had a CHASE VISA account for several years; I routinely pay off the balance in full. In August, 2009 I misplace the statement and, inadvertently, did not make a payment; the balance due was $70.15.

The next month's statement had a Late Fee of $39, which is 55.59% of the balance due. I paid the statement in full, including the onerous late fee and the $3.45 finance charge.

Then I sent a request for Chase to consider if 55.59% late fee seemed reasonable. I got a canned reply that basically said you didn't pay the bill and we charge that late fee. But they also warned me that I would incur additional Finance Charges on any activity between the last closing date and the next closing date; this is an additional $4.75 Finance Charge.

I'm sure the bank can cite existing legislation that all of this is within their rights.

I am now drafting a letter to my Senators and Representatives, providing this example of banks abusive policies and supporting their efforts to change the bank laws in favor of the customers.

Excessive Calls
Regarding Chase VISA:

I was recently placed on full disability and could not pay my Chase Visa bill past month. It seems pretty clear, that with all the late fees, penalties, and resulting raise in interest, I will not be able to pay this month’s payment either. I have explained such to the dear Credit Card Company. I also have a Chase auto loan, and have NEVER been late on this payment. Yet, for the past three weeks, Chase Visa has called my home every hour, without fail, from 8am until 9pm, all 7 days a week.

I talked to them, and I told them the issues I am having. When it became clear that I was not going to make enough income for a little while to even qualify for their "hardship" program, they said that someone would check back in with me in a few days. I said then, please, please...can you stop with those calls?

The calls started back two days later. I told the same story. My disability hadn't changed. No publisher's clearinghouse. No Second Coming...Nada...Zip

I am being advised, by Chase, that I must either send a Cease and Desist letter or pay my bill. Otherwise, they will keep calling. If no one picks up...they will call back in one hour...they’ve got people...

I told them that my blind 90 year old mother has to get up, find the phone, often burning her hands on the stove in the process because it's right next to the phone.

I told them that my paraplegic niece has to take her wheelchair dangerously near the swimming pool to help my mother out of her rocker to get to the phone...

I told them I have Swine Flu and am on a ventilator (one of those new ones that let you talk, but not get up to answer the phone), and that's why my niece has to get my mother out of the rocker to anwer the phone...

Chase doesn't have nieces, 90 year old mothers, or swine flu..

I talked to them again. This time the call had been outsourced to a non-English speaking Southeasterner (maybe a solder in a Fayetteville jail???...just thinking out loud here). Now...I have lived in the Southern US...I can understand the language ok...can even speak a little when pressed...but I wouldn't pay someone to make calls for my business who obviously was raised without shoes on his little cat bit feet)...

They are the only creditor are behind on right now and it's really THEIR fault it ended up that way. It ended up being them because they tacked on huge late fees at 3 days late, which made us go over our limit...which AS EVERYONE KNOWs with Chase, is the kiss of death to that low introductory interest rate...so the card is a disaster...they know I am disgusted, and they won't play nice. (We are talking three weeks past due here.)

For such a major player, I am surprised they need to resort to asinine bullying tactics for penny ante accounts like mine.

Refuse to disclose information on how I became an account co-ownwer and how another person became authorized use
Upon visiting Chase Bank 06/11/2009 and reviewing my accounts with a Chase representative I noticed that a credit card account (xxxx-9185) which I used with my father and that I believed was closed was active and being used. The changed account address was my brother's, who did not have any right to it's use. I immediately asked the rep to hold the limit on the line of credit to $2500.00. Since I did not know what was the issue at the time, I went home and checked things out and realized that my brother, Andrew Berezowsky had intercepeted the card statment mailings and began using this Visa card as his own, especially considering that he declared bankrupcy in the early 2002. I then called Chase Visa to have the card cancelled. Chase Visa cancelled the card and sent me a new card to my actual address with the balance of what was on the last card.

Since this incident Chase Visa has been hounding me for payments that are due on the old account xxxx-9185 and xxxx-1490.When my attorney and I contacted Chase (three times) for how I became a co-owner of the account and how my brother Andrew became an authorized user in May 2008 we received no response. I have also called numerous times and a nasty woman Mrs. Granger (investigator) told me that either my father or I must have authorized the use. When I informed this ignorant person that my father has full blown dementia which the doctors noted as problaby being alzhiemer's, she told me flat out, "well my mama has old-himer and she can make normal decisions for herself" and that my dad was probably using the card or authorized it's use.
Actually, my father is under 24/7 hour care to help feed, bath, walk, sit, and do simple normal things. I on the other hand, have not spoken with Andrew for almost two years and did not authorize him to use any credit card.

The fact is that I need to get the information as to how I became a co-owner of the the credit card account and how and by whom my brother became an authorized user of the account.

Chase has by not reponding refused to supply this information. Chase seems to think that by ignoring me that I will go away. They are mistaken. These are the same people that the goverment gave money to save them from bankrupcy.

Travel Rewards
On Aug 22, 2009, I attempted to redeem my travel points online for travel to Raleigh, NC for myself & my husband. The site accepted my itinerary using 25.000 points for myself. It said that each individual needed to be boked separately. When I attempted to book my husband on the same flight it kept giving me different flights. I called the 1-800 number and was told that this flight is booked---there was only 1 seat left. After explaining to SEVERAL representatives on the phone what happened, I was told by Tina (a supervisor) that she cancelled my flight and I would receive my 25, 000 points on my statement within 5-7 days. Needless to say it was never done even though she gave me a cancellation number. I called on Sept 9th & was told by a gentleman that he would email the travel dept and it would be taken care of. On Sept 21st I received a letter stating that "Chase valued me as a cardmember since 1980, and I needed to call to verify the cancellation and my 25, 000 points would be added back to my balance." After being transferred to numerous different departments and speaking to 5 differnet people, my problem was not fixed. I recommend that no one uses Chase. With excellent credit, I do not need to be lied to like I was by Chase. I plan to use my points and cancel my card.
