In 2005 we purchased a load of Acrylic Tow on sample from Chemexl Corporation. What was delivered was worthless wet catchcord waste. Our company has dealt globally in textile fibers since the early 1960s and from time to time we come across rogues like Omar Hasan at Chemexl Corporation. On investigation I think there are various other trading names they use to perpetuate the same scam. I have no doubt that on occasion he will actually send what has been paid for but I know of another local company that fell for the same ruse. We spoke with Karachi Chamber of Commerce and considered legal action but in our judgment it would have been a waste of time. Aware that we might be getting stiffed we negotiated that a portion of the payment would be paid on receipt, Hasan threatened to sue us for the balance but never did which is a shame becasue I would like to meet him in court. We also got a load of rubbish about us being racist as well as various pictures he sent us of supposedly him enjoying a Happy Islamic New Year. I contacted about 600 of our customers to warn them and sent a dossier to the American Embassy. Who knows there may be a snipers rifle zooming in on him right now, it would be a fitting end. For your entertainment I attach below a copy of the email I sent him when I was at my angriest. It probably made no difference to him but it made me feel better.
'Sir.
In spite of what you claim, the fact of the matter is that we purchased acrylic tow but you delivered catchcord waste. Not only did you lie about what you put in the container you even lied about the weight involved, you claim 25, 000 Kgs but actually have only loaded 17, 000 Kgs of which approximately 25% is water. The catchcord waste is mixed with other wastes and is dirty and smelly and completely unusable. You keep making reference to a steam ship survey report which does not exist.and you have the impertinence to ask for a further payment, we will happily meet you in court on this matter but we are certain you do not have the courage to fight a case where you are so obviously guilty.
We have traded successfully in Pakistan over five decades and we have from time to time unfortunately come across people like yourself. Your selfish, small minded, short term, corrupt attitude damages the reputation of Pakistan and it's people and you should be ashamed of yourself. Your behavior brings upon your people the contempt of the world and you are beneath mine.
We are in the process of sharing our experience with all of our agents on all continents as well as our large customer base and we are sure this will slowly reduce your chances of perpetuating this fraud on other innocent parties. I note that two other deliveries to other customers have been canceled by the swift action of our agent and I hope this reinforces the seriousness of our intent to gain redress. This matter is by no means over.
