Scammer Alert October 8, 2009
Nigerian Scammers
I wanted to alert you to the fact that there are scammers on this site. This person used the name of a real person, a picture and address. He was selected as one of my matches. After only two weeks of communication this person asked for money. Said he is working in guess where...Nigeria and was attacked by robbers. He asked me to wire 900 dollars. Of course I did not.

I wrote to Chemistry reporting this person and they keep emailing me a canned response back. People beware.

worthless site
I would like to add my voice to the numberous complaints already out there>
I have been on the site on 3 months there are no new " matches" despite rather open criteria
There is never anyone " interested in you"
Multiple E-mails recieved for Match, com wanting you to go into yet another site wanting more mOney for you to "join"
The Matches are way ove 20 miles away and in NJ I find it difficult to believe that the most populus state in the union cannot find " matching criteria " to send you
DO NOT WAST THE MONEY WORTHLESS

Matches
Well first off I would like to advise all customers of Chemistry.com and Match.com to read the terms of use. In the terms of use it does state that all sales are final and that your account will be renewed if it is not resigned(part 13E). Also the auto renewal statement is at the bottom of the subscription page and the price you are paying is at the top right.

That being said i do agree with the complaints of lack of matches. I understand that if you are spending a lot of money for a service you should get what you pay for. I currently have 46 Active matches but no one is responding. The lack of responses is due in part, I believe, to most of the people do not have active subscriptions and do not realize that they are signed up with a profile. When you do call to complain the always suggest sending the issue to the tech dept. Guess what, the tech dept never ever contacts you. I don't believe that it is a tech issue. If anyone has an issue it is chemistry for sending matches that are not paid subscribers. They also send out fake emails offering fake prices or fake matches.

Big piece of advice, if you are looking for a refund threaten charge back or the BBB.

Save your money everyone. Lets go back to dating the old fashioned way.

bill without notice, won't refund
I signed up about a year ago through match.com. They made it look like an add on to match.com, and even gave me the same username. When I dropped match.com, I supposed I was dropped from chemistry.com. Many months later, I saw a $100 bill on my bank statement. I contacted chemistry.com saying I hadn't given them permission to charge me for their service. I sure hadn't used it in several months. I guess they managed to screw me, even though I contacted them within ten days of their charge. Screwing me was probably their intent because, unlike reputable firms, they did not give any notice were going to charge me: you can be sure they were not unaware that I hadn't touched their service in months and clearly had no use for it.

My email exchange with them follows:

TITLE=Resigning / Cancelling Membership
DESCRIPTION=I thought I canceled my account several months ago through match.com. You certainly did not have my permission to charge me another $99.96 for your service. But you did, and you gave me no notice of this. I had to find out about it from my bank statement.

When I went into your site to try to kill my account with chemistry.com, just like I did with match.com, your site did not respond after I chose to resign and remove my profile and after I entered my password for a second time. I tried again, and again, and it did not work. Funny, eveything else but my request to stop taking my money still seems to work just fine.

Please consider this a written demand to cancel my account immediately and completely and refund the $99.96 you billed me without my permission.

Yours Sincerely,

Lawrence Sinclair

fraud , misrepresentation
Some months ago I agreed to only a trial use for a month on chemistry.com. They charged my credit card $159. I tried calling them and emailing them many times with very little success. Finally I was credited $100. I have just noticed today on 7/24/08 they have charged my card again $159, when obviously I had declined their misrepresented bad service months ago when they tried over charging me.

No refund
I joined chemistry.com, signing up for their 3 month service for $99.97. Within 72 hours I changed my mind and notified chemistry.com that I did not wish to continue. Although chemistry.com rendered no services, they refused to refund any money. At best, I flipped through an automated 10 profiles. I only hope my credit card company will join my fight to recover my losses to this fraudulent, greedy site. I would not recommend anyone using this service to find a mate.

Website is a scam!
DO NOT use this company! Their ads promise your 'first five matches are free', but after you fill out a twenty minute compatibility test and your personal information sheet, they claim to have found five matches for you BUT YOU CAN'T ACCESS OR CONTACT THEM WITHOUT SIGNING UP FOR THEIR SERVICE. You can't even verify if these are real people or whether they're just shills to get you to sign up. This website is a SCAM... if you jump through their hoops, you will just be WASTING YOUR TIME!
