Chevron Reviews

Poor service/faulty equipment
Because of faulty equipment the auto shutoff did not shut off and gas spilled all over my car and the pavement. When we told the owner of the store he admitted it was a faulty nozzle but refused to refund any of the money for the spilled gas. Because I know how many miles I had left to travel to empty and also knew how many miles a gallon I get in my Suburban, we figured he owed me about $25.00. He was unprofessional, rude, and threatening, HE threatened to call the police on us (we ended up calling the police on him) and was basically a mess. I have sent a complaint to Chevron but don't expect much...just sorry that they allow people like this to serve the public. He is in a very small and depressed town--one many people travel through to get to the coast--I will encourage all other tourists to NOT stop at his establishment...in fact, I'm just not going to stop anywhere in Raymond.

Chevron is breaking the law
Today, 12/21/09 at 17:21 I asked my daughter to go inside the store and pay $20 towards pump#12. The location of the gas station is Angels2 9902 Emmett Lowry Texas City, TX. I then proceeded to pump gas into my vehicle. When the pump stopped at $17.18 I went inside to ask for change back. The attendant (Amanda) stated that the screen was broken and that I had indeed received the correct amount of gas. I asked her how could I ascertain that I did indeed receive the amount I paid for, if the screen was broken and why did she did not inform me beforehand. She stated that, had I gone in personally, she would have told me, thus confirming the fact that she was well aware that the pump is not showing the correct amounts. When I informed her that I am pretty sure that it is against the law to dispense gas without a way for the consumer to assure her/himself that the correct amount was dispensed, she was very rude and told me that she is sure that I got the correct amount of gas, and pointed to the purchase receipt as proof. I also called the gas station's number at 832-265-4213 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 832-265-4213 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. The man I spoke to refused to identify himself. He stated that he was also aware of the fact that the display for the pump was not correct and when I asked him why he did not inform customers about this situation he became quite confrontational. I feel that they should not have been selling gas out of this particular pump since they knew beforehand that the pump's screen is not showing the correct amount. I was treated very rudely for pointing out my right to know that I received what I paid for. I would like to know if there is an agency that regulates this kind of behavior.

Rude Store Mgr
About 2 weeks ago, I stopped this Chevron on my way to work filled up. It's located in Metter GA at the corner of I-16 and Hwy 121. I paid for it at the pump then went inside to buy a candy bar and lotto ticket. I told the foreign clerk, who I believe is the mgr, the number of the ticket I wanted; and he grabbed the wrong ticket. I had to tell him twice the number of the one I wanted. I know lotto has to be paid for seperately, so I told him I'll pay for the ticket then I'll pay for the candy bar. He snapped "DON"T CONFUSE!" I paid for my purchase and left. I pass this store every day on the way to work, but I won't be back. It's funny how the competition across the highway (Shell, Exon, BP) always seem to be swamped with customers, but you rarely see more than 1 car getting gas that this Chevron and hardly anybody in the store. A friendly mgr would help business. I'll continue to patronize Chevron, but I'll purchase my gas at their Aline, Ga store where the people are much more friendly.

late fees and interest
charged late fees--payment was late due to Post Office??? paid late fee and interest--payment of these late again, why??? billed for new late fees and interest for late payment of late fees and interest. attempted to close account after approx 20 years of being an excellent customer---received an answer of regret that account was closed and an invitation to re open account with the late fees still on my old account. many telephone calls to billing center complaining about the fees and interest---still receiving bill that grows due to late fees and interest on the already late fees and interest. will not pay on something that i do not owe as no one at chevron will listen to my complaint.

Awful customer service
Woodys Chevron stations in Kingman AZ has the worst customer service managers and owner I have ever had the misfortune of trying to talk to about a problem with the receipts at the pumps. I use a card at the pump so I can pump and go, every time I go there I am delayed because there is no receipt tape in the machine. This is a problem that the owner and managers don't care about! Also the owner is in the habit of hiring convicted felons, so much for customer service!I and many others in Kingman will not be buying our gas there in the future.

Overcharged
Check out the only gas station I been to that charges an extra 10 cents per gallon if you pay with a credit card even if the credit card is issue by their own company.

Bad gass
about two days ago i pumped gas at the gas station next to my workplace, 3 miles later my car started running weird.
i took it to the dealership and they changed the fuel injectors, It was
surprising to me that after running the car for about 1 mile.. the same problem happened again. that's when the mechanic checked the gas!! it was very bad looking gas! i complained at the gas station but they cared less!!!

False Advertising
I heard an advertisement on the radio that "participating Chevrons" were having a sale on 99 cent coffee. I went in to my local Chevron and asked if they were a "participating" Chevron, and they said they were, but that their computer systems hadn't been updated yet with the new sale price, so charged me $1.63 for coffee, instead of 99 cents. I know it's only 64 cents, but it's the principle of it all. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT is unacceptable. Run the ad a day later then, if your computers aren't working yet!

Gift Card
Today I was driving on fumes and pulled into the Royce Chevron on Sepulveda Blvd. I had two used Chevron gift cards that I intended to finish up, and then use my Chevron credit card for the remainder of the transaction.

Or so I thought.

After swiping one gift card at the pump, the small screen came up with a (paraphrasing here) "Card not authorized" or some such message. I cancelled that transaction, and after receiving the same message for the second gift card, I went into the store and approached the station cashier. I asked her to check out the amounts left on both cards. There was 92 cents on one, and 97 cents on the other. I asked if I could use the cards, and she directed that she would have to swipe one card, I would have to go outside and pump my gas, close out that transaction, re-enter the store so she could swipe the second card, and I would have to once again pump my gas and close out THAT transaction.

The term 'gas station convenience store' is obviously a misnomer here.

Apparently, whenever there is less than a certain dollar amount on the card, the card won't work at the pump. So, following my example, if you had 15 Chevron gift cards each with less than $1 remaining on each card, you would have to enter and exit the station no less than 15 times and pump gas 15 times,

It would take you 20 minutes to pump 5 gallons of gas. Longer if you were handicapped in anyway.

My guess is this is a ploy by Chevron to so frustrate their 'valuable' customers that they disregard the few cents left on their cards and chuck 'em. If millions of gift card users chuck their cards every day, well, you do the math.

Some might say, sheesh lady, just buy a candy bar.

I'm sorry. I don't buy shoes at a grocery store, toilet paper at a jewelry store, or food at a gas station.

What I want is the so-called convenience that Chevron claims these cards offer. ATTENTION CHEVRON: It isn't convenient if I have to initiate a separate transaction to use up the remainder of a gift card. It isn't convenient if I have to leave my car to enter your shop to use my gift card, as if I were paying with cash. It isn't convenient for your customers to march to and from the pump and store repeatedly because you wish to pad your bottom line.
