Would not recommend Chip’s Auto Repair of Carrollton as a mechanic. I was looking to buy a used car and I took a Honda Accord I was interested in to have Chip’s Auto Repair check it out. I spoke with the owner, Chip, and he told me they do a thorough bumper-to-bumper inspection and it would take about two hours and the charge would be $79.
I left the car with them and came back later to pick it up. Chip told me that his mechanic glanced over it and said it had been wrecked on the front and back end and that I should not buy it. Chip said that because they didn’t do the thorough inspection as they had told me, he would give a discount on the price - $78 instead of $79! - Wow, a whole dollar off.
I told him that I paid for a complete inspection and didn’t feel I should have to pay this amount but he would not budge. I paid and got my keys and took the car to another mechanic. This mechanic showed me that the car had not been wrecked as it had the original bumpers with the original VIN numbers stamped on them.
In other words, Chip’s Auto Repair of Carrollton just didn’t want to spend the time inspecting the car so they just told me it had been wrecked and charged me for the time they would have spent on a complete inspection. I would not recommend Chip’s Auto Repair of Carrollton as a mechanic to anyone.
