Terrible Cust Svc
I called for help in the middle of a Winter freeze. My 1st claim. Well much to my surprise I received a little answering service eprson on the other line that explained that I had to wait until the office was opened because she didn't have any contact list for service on my furnace! WHAT?!?! So my family, (pregnant Dtr & child, and myself) were waiting for 4 hours in the cold for the main office to open. Luckily I guess it was a Friday when they will be open. When I finally got a call bk, the lady had me call a certain heating business that they supposably had a contract with. The heating business was at my home within 1 hour. They were great, BUT, said they were never contracted out with Choice Warranty. So when I had a second problem with the furnace, the very next day-guess what happened! I got the answering office again which told me to call back the main fofice on Monday. Again, WHAT!?!? We were suppose to wait from Sat morning until Monday when the office re-opens? I contacted the same heating business and told them to come out & I will pay the bill so we can have our heat back on. When I called Choice Warranty's office on Monday-it took me all day (from my workplace) and three diiferent phone calls to finally get someone to tell me how to cancel my policy. I found that there is a $50.00 administration fee to cancel and I had two policies with them. So my cost would be $100.00. WOW what a SCAM!! BEWARE and pass the word about this company. I am cancelling because of their poor business skills and I have to pay $100.00 to do so!!

microwave and plumbing
My contract with choice home runs from march 2 2009 -march 2010.
On november 10 I submitted a claim for repair to my microwave. I received a technician to contact regarding repairs. Technician did no trepair microwaves. This wnt on for 5 more technicians. Choice finally told me to find my own repair person and undergo their reinbursement procedure. But first, I had to get their approval for any repair over one hundred dollars. Try and fine an appliance repair person to come to your house for under one hundred dollars SECOND-pipe leak -december 23 put in claim. given the name kj waterworks- owner called and told me he refuses to work for them because they do not pay their contractors. Finall, plumber comes. I pay service call fee. Choice refuses to pay for repairs-say they do not cover galvanized pipes. look through my contract-it is not mentioned. call choice where i'm told to look at the on line contra ct-COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CONTRACT FROM MINE- told too bad we can cnhange the contract any time we want. customer service then threatens me with their legal department. WHAT A SCAM- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Not advised of $50 cancellation fee
Choice Home Warranty is purchased on-line. They tell you that you have to take the offer on the day you contact them or the price will increase. They charged my credit card 2 months before warranty effective date. I canceled contract and was told I would be charged $50 cancellation fee. You have to read the entire contract (6 pages) on-line to find this clause. Now I have to wait 30 days to get my refund minus the $50. This is a rip-off company with hard sell and intimidation tactics. STAY WAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

Choice Home Warranty Contact contradiction - Water Heater
Choice Home Warranty's contract states under IV coverage (Coverage Dependant on Plan): item #6, "Water Heater (Gas and/or electric)
INCLUDED: "All components and parts, including circulating pumps, except: EXCLUDED: "Access - Insulation Blankets- Pressure reducing valve-Sediment build-up - Main, Holding or storage tanks..."
How does it cover "all components and parts" but not the container and tanks? How do you hold the water if not in the container or the tanks? And what is defined as "All Components and parts?" The technicians, Steven and Karl Bauer of KJ Water Works, Inc. that Choice Home Warranty sent to us said that we need to replace the entire water heater, which includes the tank that holds the water. Duh! The technicians, Steven and Karl Bauer, called Choice Home Warranty for clearance and they told him that their review board denied the claim due to the tank exclusion. That is a contradiction of the contract and will be sent to the State Dept. of Insurance of New Jersey and New York as well as the Attorney General of both states to review the contract and its contraditions. We have learned of another complaint against this company and pending the findings of both the States Attorney Generals and the State Departments of Insurance for both states a Class Action may be filed against this company.

Non-Payment
I have been working with Choice Home Warranty for about 1 year. I recently had a problem and no longer will be working with them, they take a long time to pay out the claims, but recently I have been getting the run around about a payment. I performed the work in August and its December and still have not received payment. I filed the claim on 9/11/2009 it is 12/16/2009 and have not gotten paid yet. I stared calling in November for payment and was told that checks are written on the 30th of every month. I called on December 4th, and got the answering machine at 3:30 pm, I left message to get a return call, never got a call back. I called on December 7, 8, and 9th and was told that a manager would get back to me in 24 hours, but that never happened. The last time i spoke to a supposedly manager I was told that on December 16 I would receive payment but, not surprincingly I did not received payment. When I call I ask to speak to the manager I was told that my account had been transfered to main headquarters but, could not give me a phone number to call and speak to someone. I was told that I should write or send email to get response. If you a contractor please don't mixed up with these people, you will probadly loose money and precious time with them.

Scam
Brad Collins promised us that all of our appliances would be covered after 30 days. We purchased 2 home warrantys for two rental proerties. We explained that the properties were rental properties and because we don't live there we a re never sure of the condition of the appliances. Well just after the 30 day waiting period a tennant on a covered property moves out and we discover that the refrigerator is not working. We call CHW. They send a tech who opens the frige door glances in the ice box, and without even removing a screw driver from his tool bag summarily declares that the frige needs a heater element, bi-metal, and motherboard. CHW refuses coverage stating that the broken parts were a pre-existing condition; never mind the 30 day waiting period designed to prevent pre-existing conditions from being claimed. We called them and their representative desperately tried to engage me in an argument. I told him that if he did not make good I would charge back on the credit card and that I would not argue. He became angry and hung up on me. We called the credit card company and started a dispute. Meanwhile we got a new home warranty (AHS) and they sent Sears out to fix my fridge. Turns out that only a heating element needed replacement and that this was not a pre-existing condition. Long story short...we won the dispute with the credit card company and the department of consumer affairs (the licensing agency) is using the information we provided them as further evidence in an action to rescind their license to conduct business.

Choice Home Warranty - Scam
Choice Home Warranty is a SCAM. People be careful when you sign with them. My Sincere advise for all of you out there is not to do business with them. They are totally illegal.
Choice Home Warranty screwed me big time. The guy who sold me this policy was so nice promising everything until he gets my business. His name is Brad Collins, he said that they will fix any problem that we report with no questions asked. Here is what happened to me.
On Oct 19th 2009 I signed up with these guys. As of last week my heating furnace started making some noise when I turn it onn, which I reported to Choice Home Warranty. I never had any problems before with any of my appliances. Then a technician came to my home & saw the heating furnace (infact he told me that I should pay him first before even he touches my furnace, that is what has been told to him by Choice home warranty, which is fine.) and immediatly he said that the inducer motor has gone bad. This is due to normal wear & tear in the bearings of the motor, then he left. After 2 days I got a call from CHoice Home Warranty saying that they will not process my claim unless I provide them the maintainence records (they never mentioned about this when you sign up for the warranty - This is FIRST SCAM). Then I faxed all my maintainence records for the furnace and couple days later they contacted me saying that they will not pay for the claim. That means they will not fix my furnace, the reason stated is that they will not fix any NOISE coming from the furnace. That means basically they will not pay any for any of your complaints/claims. I spend couple hours on phone with their customer service dept, Authorization dept etc.. arguing that when some moving/rotating part in a motor goes bad it does make noise. If it had not made any noise I guess I wouldn't have come to know the problem itself. What kind of a company who denies the claim on this ground. I am fighting to get back my money (full refund) from them, since they are running a scam business here.
Hence, I filed a company with BBB (better Business Bureau) on how they are cheating people. Hence guys, please be careful when you sign up for something like this.

SCAM/RIPOFF
We filed a claim 12-5-2009 because our heater went out. Long story short they denied our claim because they said the unit was not 'properly maintained' because we did not have any documentation to send them showing that the system had be serviced every season since we owned the house. The system is 25 years old! Obviously it has been maintained or else it would not have lasted this long. I am an MBA and my husband is a PhD, we keep excellent records/receipts for everything in our home, but never once have we heard of 'seasonal maintenance' for a heating system. We are tired of insurance/warranty companies taking our money and not performing the service when we need it. We have paid $500 in premiums/service fees during the 4 months we have had this warranty, and they told us that since we do not have a 'long enough history' with them they need all of our maintenance records for the heating system (which is just their way of finding a reason to deny the c
laim). We sent them 2 years worth of service receipts to show the repairs that had been made to the system and they said that was not enough, and that we only sent them documentation for when the system broke, not documentation for how we maintained the system. What is the point of buying a warranty if they are not going to fix items when they break? To add insult to injury the weather is 20 degrees which constitutes emergency service, but after 4 days we still have no heat! We have only had this warranty 4 months and Choice Home Warranty has already breached the contract by not performing emergency service. We filed a complaint with the BBB requesting our heat be fixed or our $500 premium/service fees refunded and this warranty cancelled so we can find a reputable company that will actually perform the service we are paying for!

Customer Service 101
December 8, 2009
Aprroval/Authorization Dept
Choice Home Warranty Approval Dept Managers should be FIRED!
Never had a problem with the claims dept, great service.
The problem is when the manager of approval/authorization, does not have customer service skills and does not take charge of his department, nor does he know how to delegate orders. On 12/8/09, I've been waiting 3 days for an appoval, Choice claim to be waiting for the Tech to call them, so customer did a three-way call and Choice still refused to resolve the issue. Customer asked if we could all disconnect and askd the Manager to call Vendor and he stated No. I will not be renewing any furture business with choice..WARNING!!!SCAM
