non payment of invoice
We were a new contractor with the so called home warranty company and completed our call and followed all procedures for being paid. But that never happend. When you call in you get endlessly transferred and most of the time hung up on. Calls to our "area manager" went unanswered. I have done business with many home warranty companies and this is the worst experience I have had to date. Now our company is out $350.00 and the homeowners problem is fixed and the home warranty company hasnt paid a cent. Can you say scam.

Bad Business Practice & Cheating
I called up this company on 08/19/09 to enquire about Home warranty plans & price & spoke to a representative named Kevin. He initially told me $380 for Total Plan & when I told him I need to discuss it with my family. Then he kept decreasing the price & finally he could make it $330 if I sign up & pay right away plus he ensured me I have 30 days to decide whether I want to keep it or cancel it. He was rushing me to enroll for a contact as if they will be providing best service for it. Company will refund my full money if I cancel before 09/19/09. On 08/28/09 when I called up to cancel this contract since we are planning to move to a different school district because of better school choices, & I spoke to Mr. Robert Barr . Unfortunately I will have to say that he was very rude & highly unprofessional after I told him that I want to cancel this contract . Then he said there is a $50 penalty for cancelling it . I told him that previously I had been told by your person only (Kevin) that there will be no deduction if I cancel before starting date of contract which is Sep.19’2009. Then he said there will be an investigation for it . But after several phone calls company has refunded only $280 to me whereas I cancelled 3 weeks before the contact was about to start. In these recession times I dont expect that companies should start snatching money from public like this & fool them .
in fact they are complete liar & try to fool people in different ways .

Service and policy
This company is awful. They have terrible customer service and do not stand by anything they say on the phone. I had a 30 day wait period before warranty became effective as the sales rep told me for pre-existing reasons. Well I noticed my pool pump leaking on 090409 and because my warranty had only become effective on 083109, the company said this was pre-existing and did not cover it. Isnt that why I had the 30 day wait period, I bought this warranty on 073109. Over the process of this I also received poor service, so I wanted to cancel and get my money refunded, after all they dont want to cover something because I was only effective a few days. Well they will not give me a refund- why not I have only been effective a few days and already I am extremely dissatisfied. They did not call me back when they said they would. I was upset I wasnt getting answers in a timely manner as had been promised. The only one rude customer service girl they have hung up on me. I have never heard of a company that does not let you cancel with them and get a refund when being totally unsatisfied with their service.
Please check them out with the BBB as it is stated:
According to information in BBB files, the business was previously headquartered at 244 Madison Avenue in New York City. As of May 2009, that location has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB serving Metropolitan New York due to a pattern of complaints, and the business has not corrected the underlying reason for the complaints.

Bad Service
I have been a Choice Home Warranty customer for couple of months. I guess my biggest mistake was that I didnt check around for their reputations and get referrals. My advise if that no one should ever deal with this company. It is a complete fraud company. They hire cheap contractors who will never fix your problem and you will call them 100 times to follow up on everything from setting up appointment to get approvals on service etc. My refregerator is out of service for almost a month and they havent been able to fix it. I would advise everyone who is planning to look at choicewarranty to beware and make sure they dont get into similiar trap. Dont beleive the industry ratings. I am sure they pay for these services to give them high ratings. When it comes to services my experience couldnt be anything by horrifing. The amount of calls I have made in last four weeks could have gotten me to run for Senator :-)

bad service
I have used home warranty companies in the past, I have a two rental units and decided to provide a home owners warranty service to my rental units.
I had a heater problem in one of the units and Choice sent out a repair company to do the repair. Two days later I have the same problem. I turns out the repair company put the wrong size jet on the oil pump and it burned out because it wouldnt shut off. They billed Choice for a new oil pump, that was not replaced. I call and told them about the pump not being replaced and I still have a problem. Choice told me to call another company and submitt the bills to them for reinbursment. Two month later I am still trying to get my money back as promised. Which is really hard since they never take my calls and never call me back.
My advice is don't use Choice Home Warranty.

Water Heater
I was looking to switch home warranty companies because the one I was with raised their rates substantially. BIG MISTAKE! It's true that you get what you pay for. So I called Choice Home Warranty in March 2009 and spoke with a representative. He told me that for $330.00/year everything would be covered. I remember even questioning the hot water heater issue because I've had a couple of them go out on me before and he assured me there would be no problem with replacement. Well my water heater went out on me in August, on a Friday evening of course, so I called CHW and spoke with a dispatcher. She gave me the number to a designated service contractor, which I called and he ended up calling me back 45 minutes later - great customer service. The plumber came out at 7:00 am the following morning and stated that the tank definitely needed to be replaced as it was leaking from the bottom. The tank was purchased & installed in 2001. He called CHW to give them the diagnosis and they told him they will only authorize $100.00. WTF? $100.00 doesn't even cover the labor to install a new water heater. He said he spoke to a couple different individuals and was told CHW's corporate offices were closed on Sat/Sun and he reached the dispatch service and they could only authorize $100.00. So he gave me a choice: I could either wait until Monday to see what CHW would actually authorize or I could give him a check for $450.00 ($550.00 was the total amount for the water heater & installation/labor) and he would hold my check until he or I heard back from CHW. So I chose the second option of course; I didn't want to go through my entire weekend without hot water! The plumber then informed me that I would also have to pay the $45.00 service call fee. I forgot to mention in the beginning of this complaint that when I signed up w/CHW, I was told that since I paid in full that day my first service call fee would be waived. When the plumber called the dispatch service to verify this, they had nothing on record to confirm this - of course. He replaced my water heater and I gave him my $450.00 check hoping that the $45.00 service fee would be waived. He also told me he would contact CHW first thing Monday morning to give them the information and he in turn would call me with their resolution.
He contacted CHW and got the run around - someone will call him back after the claim was reviewed. About 4 hours later, I called the plumber to see if anyone called and he said no. I proceeded to call them three times and got the same response. Finally someone did call me back, a gentleman but I didn't get his name. Long story short - they will not cover the water heater because it clearly states in the contract 6.3.3. Water Heating: This agreement covers all modules, components and parts of the water heating system necessary to the functionality of the water heater systems. This agreement does not cover the following list of modules, components and parts relating to the water heating system: holding tanks, storage tanks, fuel storage tanks, vents, flued, drain pans, drain piping, pressure reducing valve, internal flue, draft hood, flue baffle and tempering valve.
Are you kidding me??? This is completely contradictory to what they said they would cover in the first sentence! Basically, they don't cover anything to do with the water heater except the functionality parts, which is basically the entire water heater. They did, however, live up to their promise that my first service call would be free so I didn't have to pay $45.00. But I had to pay $450.00 + my $330.00 annual fee to get a new water heater! So I got a brand new water heater for $780.00 - what a great deal, NOT! This company is a complete rip-off and will tell you anything to get your $330.00 but then will not cover anything. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go with this company.
Oh yeah, I was also told when I first signed on with Choice that since I was paying in full not only would they waive my first service call fee that they would also extend my contract from 12 months to 14 months for no additional fee. Guess what? When I finally got my contract from them, the contract expiration date was April 2010 and it should have been June 2010. So I called up Choice and informed them of this and they said they would send me a new contract immediately reflecting this information. Guess what? I NEVER received a new contract. I even called them a month later requesting a new contract and STILL never got a new contract. Surprise, surprise!
I base this complaint also on the fact that my previous home warranty company did in fact pay for the replacement and installation of a brand new water heater when I had one fail in another home of mine; all I had to pay was the $50.00 service fee.
Choice Home Warranty are a bunch of crooks and I cannot wait for my contract to expire so I can find another company, hopefully an honest one. By the way, take a look at the BBB grade on this company; it's a D-!

Scam
I filed a claim with Choice Home Warranty on 6-8-09 for my oven. They sent a technician out that could not repair the oven and said part were no longer available. Choice contacted me about 2 weeks later with a very low offer to settle the claim rather than replacing the oven as the warranty states. They tried to tell me it could be fixed even though their technician said it can't. They told me I could wait 2-3 months for them to aquire the parts to fix it or accept their low offer. However, they could not give me the name of a company from which they intended to acquire the parts. I told them to send me the money, but to date on 8-10-09, I still have nothing from them. Another call to their customer service today resulted in them giving me a check number that they say was mailed 7-27-09, but they would check on it and see if it might have to be re-issued. They never sent one out, I know it and they know it. NEVER DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE. THEY NEGATE THEIR OWN WARRANTY PROMISES AT SOME PLACE IN THEIR AGREEMENT. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

bad business practices
Choice took my money and never paid my claim. It cost me $3000 to find out from them that they find excuses not to pay.
I had a 22 year old air conditioner unit to break in 100 degree heat in Texas/ called them/ repairman came / claim denied/ Choice said my unit was too old and rusty to repair, (but I had the unit serviced a year and a half ago)... and Choice did not pay. I had to have a new unit installed at cost to me/ I cancelled and will never ever tell anyone to use them. Help put them out of business by letting others know.
