I was stupid enough to sign on to a 'course' in self defense this guy offered. Supposed cancer-survivor, soldier, bouncer, you-name-it. The 'course' consisted of cheaply printed notes that really had no depth to them, DVDs looking as if they were shot with a web cam in his own apartment and an unsuspected 'surprise' I found a month later, in the form of dietary supplements I never once authorised, nor was asked about.

I thought he may have some information to augment my knowledge in the Martial Arts, but it was obvious once he started making ridiculous comments about Bruce Lee 'dropping all that fancy stuff' that his opinion and demonstrable knowledge really started showing holes. I'm not offended due to his comments about Bruce Lee (he was indeed an excellent fighter - this was just one example) but it is plain to anyone that what this guy is presenting is re-hashed (badly) and just low quality shite. I was also subscribed to a monthly newsletter (which I believe has stopped arriving since I cancelled my Visa and got a new account - there is no reliable email address to reach these people and I was not about to potentially spend loads on a toll call from NZ to the States in what would be a vain attempt to cancel the above-mentioned subscriptions) which really degenerated into clips from wartime novels etc. with no real, valid information.

I am particularly incensed about the whole thing as I work in the Information Technology sector and would be the one person to tell anyone else to avoid something like this like the plague !

I have, of late, recently started Wing Chun (Bruce Lee studied this for a while also). Anyone that ridicules a fighting style such as this in favour of some ficticious slimmed down 'top secret military' program is full of the best at the minimum. That is another point of annoyance. It is quite plainly swapping dedicated hours, learning the forms and the power within them with some re-hashed crap that appears to draw upon all manner of techniques without relation of cohesion. This man is a walking SCAM.
