So we needed to remodel our bathroom. It had been a mess for 25 years without being remodeled. Great, exciting, wonderful. We hit Kitchen Bath Distributors and decided to slide down that slippery slope. The saleswoman was nice, she spoke in "construction phrases" and really never explained what what happening until it was too late to fix or backout of.
The company was given two and a half weeks to remodel our bathroom. It took 2 months for them to complete it.
The work they did left marks on my brand new living walls (that were just repainted and sanded after 30 years of wall paper was removed). They never came to finish the job of repairing all of the dents and scratches from the rip out.
The organiztion of the daily routine was obsurd. These people would come in and work half a day and leave! and then go on to their next project in the afternoon which is INSAINE!!! And which is what happens when you use subcontractor!!!
Knowing they only had two and a half agreed upon weeks to finish MY project, it would have been nice to be treated as if my hard earned money was as important as "the next" projects.
The workmen they sent were always pissed. Since they kept having to return to my home for mistakes that were constantly made.
"Junior" the 20 something-year-old-son-of-the-boss PROJECT MANAGER NEVER wrote anything down. He never showed up for more then 5 minutes. Always going on to the next job. ... and since his I.Q. was nearly 50 you can imagine how frustrating it was to have to remind him over and over again of what needed to be completed. My advice, get a pen and clipboard and take a seminar on how to use them!
By the end of the agreed upon contract timeframe we still had no completed bathroom. The left us without an installed toilet, no shower doors and a tub without faucets, which later, when I had to take ANOTHER day off from work, were installed backwards :) the caulking was never completed. Oh yeah, and they dont paint. Which would have been nice to know in the beginning BEFORE they planned to install a bathroom vanity. That way we could paint the drywall before and not our new vanity.
The respect and attention to detail was completely overlooked. AND they still demanded payment. I cannot imagine what the outcome would be if I performed MY job the way they performed theirs. I work in an operating room...
This was so unfortunate since we spent so much money to finally re-do out bathroom. There are plenty of other construction companies and contractors out there that will respect your project and properly complete a job. I will never use these people again...
