After driving a used Dodge Grand Caravan until it died, I researched everything I could find before purchasing a new vehicle. The Town & Country Ltd met all of my criteria and I purchased a new 2005. What a piece of junk - plastic everything, electrical problems, a/c condensate leaks, ruined carpet, etc. I am now on my fourth battery and, at least once a week, I still have to use a battery charger to get my car started.

I had to replace the tires due to dry rot, with less than 20, 000 miles and good tread still left on them. The dealer was closed, I was leaving on a trip, so I bought four new tires from Discount Tire. As the new tires were about to be installed, the technician called his manager over and then they called me over. All four rims had visible stress fractures in the metal, so those had to be replaced as well. None of this expense was covered under warranty, unless I wanted to haul four tires, four rims, two dogs and a travel crate on my trip, so that I could take them back to the dealer after I returned. I now had repair costs on top of car payments. At the time, Chrysler was in the process of bankruptcy and divesting themselves of Chrysler Financial.

I had made over three-fourths of my payments early or on time and everything was fine. Then I was hospitalized twice in one month, incurring significant debt and paying on that monthly. I knew I would be late making a fewcar payments. I called Chrysler Financial, explained the situation and initially, they agreed to work with me since I had no other late payments. If I knew a payment might be late, I always called to let them know and that I would pay online on a certain date, including any late fees. Then I was laid off from work. Again, I called and explained the situation but, this time, I encountered rude, lecturing service reps, wanting money right then because I signed an agreement, yada, yada. They began calling my brother about the late payments. He came over and we called them together and things got real ugly, real quick. I have not received any unemployment since filing three months ago due to a computer glitch. The only thing I have coming in is Social Security (not much) and have cut expenses down to very bare necessities and nothing else. Knowing I could not make an entire payment, I called them and explained that I paid what I could on mycar payments, just to show good faith effort. I have three payments left and it was down to making a car payment or paying utilities. I called and explained that I am refinancing my house but have not closed yet but as soon as I do, I will pay the car off. Since I do not yet have a closing date, I cannot give them an exact date and time that I will pay off the note. That is not good enough for Chrysler Financial - they want it yesterday. They have been calling every day, at least six times or more, asking the same question: when? I tell them the same thing. They call my brother and he tells them the same thing I have told them. I have talked to supervisors and nothing works. I absolutely intend to pay them off - just as soon as I close and have money in my hand, which cannot be fast enough to suit me. I do know that I will never use Chrysler Financial but then I also know that I will never buy another Chrysler product again. If Chrysler Financial ceases to exist, their ex-employees could probably find work as collectors for the mob.

I cannot afford to hire an attorney right now. Is there any way to stop this incessant harassment?
