Scam
We went to a home and garden show and signed up for a guest visit to Cibola Vista Resorts in Peoria Arizona. Here is what happened.
RE: Phone Conversation of 8:30 am on Sunday August 30th 2009

As requested in our phone conversation this morning in which I called to cancel our 1PM meeting today for the Resort Preview, here are the reasons we checked in last evening the 29th as arranged and then checked out at 9pm, and why we are not interested in purchasing anything from your company.

We checked in at the main desk at or about 5:30 pm and were given a room key for #2227.
1. We had gotten off work and driven an hour to get to your location and had anticipated having a nice evening meal on arrival. The salesman at the home show had stated that there were restaurant facilities on the premises. We were also given food vouchers for the restaurant. Only to find out that the only food was from a small outdoor café, in 100 degree heat, down by the pool. The vouchers we were told were for a restaurant somewhere off the resort and not even associated with the resort. When we went over to the café there was a lengthy line so we decided to go back to the room and get room service. The menu was for burgers, pizza and ice cream. Hardly what we had looked forward to on a Friday evening at a supposedly high class resort. Since we were starving we ordered some Nachos etc and a bottle of wine worth about $25 which actually cost over $60. Not to mention the heart burn that came later.

2.The room itself was nice. Not unlike most Holiday Inn suites. The TV was worthless. No movie channels and only basic cable. I really did not care to watch QVC while dining on a Friday evening. The only DVD player was in the bedroom hooked to a small lousy quality picture TV. Not worth walking down to the check in to RENT a movie.

3.My wife then decided to check out the spa massage that they had given her a coupon for. Only to find out that they were closed. When she called the front desk she was told that the massage coupon was good for 25 minutes toward a 3 hour massage which had to be scheduled in advance. Since we would be checking out the next morning, this also was a worthless coupon.

4.The next issue is the most serious. I wanted another coke and decided to go out to the pop machine in the hall. As I stepped out I was nearly knocked over by a group of teen boys running at break neck speed through the halls. Followed shortly by 3 more boys that were obviously not from the resort by the way they were dressed and the obvious gang markings. My nephew is a police officer and has educated me on several instances of situational awareness and signs of gang identification. The fact that the resort is located on the avenues side of the valley is one thing. To not have any gate security to the compound to control who is coming onto the grounds or have any obvious security patrols is lax at best. The best part was an hour later when I went out to get my computer from the trunk of my car, there were 2 gang bangers on either side of my car about to break into it. They saw me coming toward my vehicle and took off. That pretty much was the deal breaker. If I am going to be in a place for a relaxing time, I sure don’t want to have to be worrying about the security of my wife walking by herself or my car in the parking lot.

5.We then decided to go down to the pool for a relaxing swim. Low and behold the main pool is closed. Signs all over the doors saying closed due to contamination! We then decided to go to the adult pool. It was no longer the adult pool as there were about a hundred gusts with small kids running everywhere to the point you could not get into the pool or find a place to sit if you had to. Not to mention the horrendous sound of some lady squeaking out a tune at the karaoke machine. Very tacky! Have you guys ever heard of live entertainment or DJ on a Friday evening?

6. We then went up to the check in desk and asked if there was a game room with pool tables, pin pong, ANYTHING! She said all they had was Karaoke down by the pool. We went back to the room.

7. I decided to check my e-mail for work. Only to find out that there is no wireless internet. I called the front desk and asked about an internet connection. She said that there was a cable outlet somewhere in the room. She did not know exactly where. I looked for 30 minutes and never found it. She also said we would have to pay extra for Internet. Even Starbucks gives you wireless free internet access. Good Greif!

8.The final straw was when my wife decided to take a shower and call it a night. Guess what? NO HOT WATER! Unbelievable.

AT that point we called it quits. We had a more relaxing, safe, entertaining atmosphere back at our own house. We went to the front desk and explained our concerns to the young lady and stated that we were checking out. She said she was sorry and that there would not be a charge for the room.

I called Justin this morning and asked what the penalty for not coming to the preview would be. We obviously were not in the least bit interested in buying anything associated with a company that pays so little attention to the fine details. He said the worst case scenario would be the $50 hold fee but if I sent an e-mail detailing the problems we had so he could show his supervisor, that there would be no charge.

We have stayed in several resorts in many locations, even in Mexico. This was by far the least secure and the least relaxing.
Addendum:
09/01/09 7Pm
Received a voice mail message on my phone from Blanca at reservatios that since we stayed all night in the room on Saturday but did not go to the preview on Sunday we would be getting the full rack rate charge unless we rescheduled. I attempted to call her back 5 times but only got voicemail.
I then called Walter Dolan who answered the phone. I explained the complete set of events as well as sent him a copy of the e-mail I had sent to Justin. He stated that there would not be any charges.

They charged my Visa anyway. Do not trust these people. I am filing a BBB complaint. What a DUMP!
