Worst bank in the world
I have been with Citibank for 5 years now through my company and as my old card recently expired I received a new credit card which I was asked to activate in the usual way by phoning them.

When I phoned, I was asked by a computer to enter the numbers on the card and was told to my surprise that the number was invalid! I tried several times more and was told, by the computer, the same thing. I hoped that by doing this, like a normal call center, I would eventually be put through to a human being who could resolve the issue, but instead I just got cut off. I tried several different routes but never managed to get passed the computer. Eventually, by going through a sales route, I managed to get through to a call center in India, who took my card number and address and also told me that my account was not valid. This is particularly interesting as a couple of days ago I received my statement from Citibank, so I must have existed then and I am sure I will exist when the payment is due!

Despite having a statement from Citibank in front of me they continued to deny that I was a customer and therefore would not help me in anyway. I am lucky because this is my company credit card and therefore I can use my company to help validate my claims and take the time to sort out the problem. With no call centers in locations which you can have a reasonable conversation with, apparently no account against which my calls can be logged and I assume no account which I can make a payment to to clear my account. If I had been an individual, I can only assume, the next thing I would have heard would be a threatening letter from the Bailiffs demanding money in addition to the money that I owe, with no one to validate that I have tried to resolve this.

This is not the first time I have had problems with Citibank and many of my colleagues feel the same. My advice to anyone looking for a bank is keep looking! If they can loose my identity so quickly, what else can they just loose overnight, my life savings (which I might add, are not and never would be with Citibank)!?

Overdraft fees
Beware of the high overdraft fees. I was hit 3 times with $29.50 each overdraft fees, and they don't let you know about it either. I spoke with a manager named Brian there to see if I could get a couple of the fees waived as I think I should be charged one fee, and not 3 since I wasn't aware of it, and they didn't notify me, but he was so rude. Go to a bank that would treat you better. Try Northstar, there rate is 4.01% vs. the sorry 2% at City Bank.

Citibank Credit Card not received
Hi,

I am having salary account in Citibank from last 2 years on behalf of that one your executive (Vijay Kumar) called me up & said that my Gold Citibank Credit Card is approved, for that I need to fill the Application form will receive the card in next 15 days after filling the form. One of the executive came to my office & I completed necessary formalities. But, I didn’t receive the Credit Card till yet. It is almost 3 months now.

I complained the same on India Service [[email protected]] on 26th Feb 2010, I put reminder several times regarding the status. Now they are telling me that they have not received my application after more than one & half month stating that they have already reverted on my mail but I didn’t get any response from their side. In that mail they have stated that they tried to call me but I did received any call.

I just want to know where my form is & necessary documents gone, I have the customer copy of my application form. This is not the solution which I am expecting, simply saying that they haven’t received the form. This is a security issue for a customer because some of my important details are mentioned in that application form along with photocopy of necessary proofs. I sent the mails to their Nodal officers also but are also not reverting anything. Neither they have sent an acknowledgment mail for the confirmation on my mail. This is not the way they should react to their customers.

This is my worst Customer Service experience.

Kindly look into the matter ASAP or If you are unable to track then I have to take some legal action against this issue.

Sir,
This is Surya Prakash Babu V. I am the credit card holder of citi bank from past 6 years. Till October 2009 there are no issues with my card and I am very clear on my payments. In the month of October 2009 (23rd OCT 2009) I did a transaction worth of Rs.100000/- in LEATHER CONCEPTS with my CITI BANK and the same day I did a transaction worth of Rs.120000/- with my HSBC card with the same merchant and ordered two Leather SOFA’s each cost around 100000/-. After this transaction I went to client place on my professional work around 40days and came back to Hyderabad. I made a call to merchant and asked for delivery of my SOFA’s. He gave a shock to me and he said I didn’t consider your order as my banker has stopped the payment to me and you will get the amount to your account with in your due date. I waited till due date and the amount was not credited to my account then I made a call to merchant and asked for the status. He enquired to his banker and he said it will take min of 45 days and max of 7 months. So I asked to merchant what I need to do now…He said, better to raise a dispute complaint in your banks. So I raised a dispute complaint in both CITI and HSBC banks on the same day that is DEC 2009 last week. I got the reversal of my HSBC transaction with in 45 days and I didn’t get the CITI bank transaction/dispute amount till today. CITI bank people asked me to wait max time till 1st MAR 2010. I made a call on 2nd or 3rd march 2010 and enquired about my dispute case status. They said till today we don’t have any updates so I asked to connect to your manager. They connected to NISHA (MANAGER) and she has handled this case. After two days she made a call and she asked the transaction cancellation letter from merchant stating that this transaction has not considered and didn’t deliver the goods to customer. So I collected the letter from merchant letter pad and faxed the same to NISHA’s extension. After few days she made a call to me and she said we are not responsible for this transaction and you need to re-solve or get your amount from merchant only. I said that this is not fair NISHA, if HSBC Bank people re-solved my problem why not CITI bank people will resolve the same problem. She said bank rules are differing from bank to bank. This is not the correct answer and I didn’t expect this response from her. Please help me out to get the refund of my transaction amount from merchant banker ASAP. Could you please consider this as my personal request and kindly re-consider my dispute case and resolve this issue ASAP. Merchant is not favoring or helping to me. I am expecting the help from you. Please trace/investigate our issue. This is not only my money. This is our money. Hoping positive response from you. Below are my cards and contact details:

29% interest rate with $60 /year
RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CITI BANK, STATE THAT MY INTEREST RATE GOING UP TO 29%, AND IF I DO NOT USE AT LEASE OF $2500 A YR, CITI BANK WILL CHARGE $60.00 PER YEAR, SO ON 3/17/2010 I CALL TO CANCEL MY CHANGE CARD AND TRIED TO CASH IN MY REWARDS POINTS, THE OPERATOR TOLD ME I HAVE ABOUT 18000 PTS, WHICH COME TO ABOUT $150. BUT I COULDN'T DECIDE TO GET CASH OR GIFT, AND TOLD I CAN REDEM MY POINT FROM THE INTERNET, THE NEXT DAY 3/18/2010, WHEN I SIGN ON CITI BANK CITE, FOR MY SUPRISE ALL MY POINTS GONE, IT SHOW NONE, WHEN I CALL TO CITI BANK I WAS TOLD ALL MY POINTS JUST GOT EXPIRED, IT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT..

Charge dispute
I told them that I had orginally signed up over the phone with a company to help reduce debt at the time my brother was very sick with cancer and than he died I told them I wanted to cancel this program where they talk with creditors and help reduce the debt will in the mean time my brother died and I was very distraut and when I realized what I had done and that I could do it myself if I tried they said no to cancel the program I am still paying for it not only did they not help me to get this cancelled but they also uped my interest rate when I didn't make a payment some one should be able to help people cancel a charge after they realize that they made a bad move

Rip off
I received a check form Citi Bank in June for $35, 000.00. I paid Citi a flat fee of $75.00 for the use of the $35, 000.00 for 6 months no interest. I held the check until August 10th when I deposited it into a 4% checking account. I was told on tape by Citi that I had to cash the check within 3 months and that my 6 month 0- interest started after the deposit was made. I made the minimum payment plus extra each month.

I planned to pay back the balance in full on February 9th before having to pay any interest.

I noticed on my December statement they charged me interest. I have received two explanations from Citi. One is they changed the terms and the other is my 6 months 0- interest ended in December because it started when I received the check. I am giving Citi back the money on January 12th and they are saying even if I pay in full that I have residual interest that I will have to pay. They wont give me an amount!

I feel my contract has been broken and that my $75.00 fee should be refunded as well as any interest that has been taken from me.

Debit Card Issue
I have created Citi Bank Savings Account on September Month. Till now, i didnt get amy ATM Debit card. So many times, i have visited the branch and the customer service executives are telling the genric message "your card will be despathced in week time". I called many times customer executives, there is no use. Those people does not have any information and they are telling, your details is not displayed, please visit the branch.

Dear Sir,

Iam indian, Took Personel Loan from Citi Bank Bahrain. Two months before i came to india for vacation, during my vacation, my company/sponsor cancel my Visa. I contact the citi bank call center, how to pay/send money to citi-bank bahrain towards my monthly installment. The call center person, told me you have to come Bahrain and Pay. I called many times and chat with different person, but no use. I send a query trho' citibank website more than 3 times. but no response.
I dont have any phone no. of bahrain citibank. Even if i call, its forwarded to call center. I fed up with cicibank service. Please help me how to pay/close my loan from india.
