Credit rating destroyed by CitiBank for refusing to pay fees charged after cancellation of creditg card
I had a CitiBank credit card for many years which I rarely used. The few times I used it I had problems with CitiBank properly crediting payments on time which resulted in interest and late payment fees which I disputed and I cancelled my CitiBank credit card. After cancelling my credit card, CitiBank continued to charge fees on the disputed amount although the cardholder agreement states that the primary cardholder is not responsible for any fees after the card is cancelled. Subsequently, CitiBank informed the credit rating agencies that I was in default and that they had written-off the charges as an uncollectible debt which significantly lowered my credit rating. That was over a disputed amount of approximately $250 of which over $200 was for charges/penalties. Those penalties/charges are how CitiBank became the biggest bank in the world which, happily, they no longer are. I hope they go totally bankrupt and their executives go to jail for fraud.

credit protector
I enrolled in a promotional credit card offer from Citicard and specifically DECLINED being enrolled in Credit Protector which is THEIR company. The very next statement there are TWO charges on my card from Credit Protector (!!). These were completely unauthorized charges that citibank put on themselves.
I phoned to cancel and was told it would take TWO billing statements. Pretty suspicious when it's them who put the charges ON the card that THEY own.

This is a very shady company and they should be investigated.

Unauthorized Use Allowed
I was the victim of a scam, facilitated through my Citibank credit card which I held for 10+ years. I authorized a $50 charge to my card on a written contract which was altered by the "merchant" by eliminating the decimal point and was charged $5000 instead. The "merchant" turned out to be a known and convicted thief, forger and impersonator with a criminal record and had built a business on similarly scamming others. Unfortunately, I found this out too late. <br />

On the other hand, I don't have a single blemish on any of my personal or business records. In support of his claim for $5000 the "merchant" offered a forged document to his bank and to Citibank, which was easy to prove with a very simple investigation. <br />

Although they did NOT find any evidence that I had forged any documents or had lied to the bank, they also had NOT checked all of the many references I offered with regard to the "merchant"'s criminal record, pattern of deception and forgery including the undeniable forgery he offered with his claim. <br />

In the end, for no good reason Citibank chose to side with the "merchant" and refuse my appeals for the disputed charge. In their decision, they extrapolated their authority well beyond the boundaries of the specific charge in question (which is all they have responsibility for) and were influenced by an artfully crafted, yet still a swiss-cheese contract that was nothing but a scam from the start. <br />

Don't expect your outstanding credit record to mean anything to Citibank. Instead, expect them to favor criminals to good customers. Also, do not expect due and fair consideration if you are faced with unauthorized use of your card and credit. Instead, expect a poorly executed "investigation", no personal communication whatsoever with anyone knowledgeable about your dispute, and no concern about being openly ripped off by known criminals. <br />

When this is resolved, they will have one less good customer.

Blocked Password and Unexplained Charges
Today, I could not anymore log in to citibank online. It has been my habit that in any day of the way to check or track anything that goes to my citibank credit card. To my surprise, the usual password I entered is not anymore recognized. I called up their Citibank Cebu, Philippines hotline for such complain. I insisted that my laptop has never been used by anybody and I had never used any computer to open for such citibank online. I'm wondering if somebody has really breached in to my account. Does it mean that Internet Security is not anymore effective in Citibank? I was just advised by the agent that my complaint will just be raised. I did not even know what to expect cause until now I still could not log. Thus, I asked just instead for a faxed copy of the updated statement of account.

Here's another catch. Upon receipt of such statement, I was just surprised that two entries came without my knowledge; all were billed from the same vendor with one costing Php 144++ and another P844++. With my recent plight, I called up again Citibank for explanation. As verified by this another agent, such bills are already reversed and I need not to worry because these wont be part of my account anymore.

It is one of the reasons actually why I needed to open such account today to check Citibank's reply as I've already made to ask for clarification regarding such concern. Would this be a strategy for them to block the account in order to clean up the mess so that when opening again, such findings or errors never appear already?

I hope my complaint will be brought to open especially to those who experience the same. It is just unfair for a large company like Citibank to do this kind of trick.

Extortion by CITIBANK
I've had a Citibank credit card for years. I've always made my payments on time and more than the minimum balance. I signed up for their autodraft program. I went onto my online banking this month to check on my balances and noticed no payment had been drafted? I then had to go back to their website and make a manual payment 8 days after the original draft date. I received my next scheduled bill with a $39 late fee and a raised interest rate to 29%!!! I called them to ask to remove the fee and they denied it 3 days later. I called a second time to get it removed and my interest rate returned to its original rate. I get the run around again and am told there is nothing that can be done? What kind of company SHITS on it's customers who try to do the right thing and fix an honest mistake? I'll never do any business with Citi again and will do everything in my power to get my employer to drop all business with CITI world wide. If you have been burned this way too I urge you to convince as many people as possible NOT to do business with them.

Rude Personnel/Harassment
After our harrowing experience with Citibank, I STRONGLY advise everyone, DON’T GET A CITIBANK CREDIT CARD! This is quite a long read, but I hope you take heed.

When we started having financial difficulties, I called Citibank to inquire of any arrangement we can avail of that would allow us to pay my father’s outstanding balance on a reasonable installment basis. But I was told that no such arrangement was available.

Failing to make payments for a few months, the account accumulated. Paying only the monthly minimum amount incurs HUGE financial charges and even MORE penalty/service charges if not paid on time. Citibank personnel started calling us at the office, house and on mobile even as early as 6am or as late as 10pm. If unable to speak to the cardholder directly, these people threatened anyone who took their calls. Not even children were spared from their foul language.

As soon as we raised enough, we made arrangements with their designated collection agency (law firm A) to pay the account in full at a discount. After signing the appropriate agreement form, we paid the agreed amount at an authorized bank. We faxed the payment slip to the law firm and they confirmed receipt of the payment by Citibank.

We requested for a clearance letter certifying payment and closure of the account. We were told that this letter will be sent to us directly by Citibank. After not receiving the letter as promised, we repeatedly called the firm and were always told to just wait. We were also advised to disregard the statement of account we continuously received after full payment. This is machine generated and will eventually stop, they said.

To date, no certification has been received. Payment was made in 2007! Instead, we received a letter from another law firm demanding IMMEDIATE payment of the account after we, as they claim, CONTINUOUSLY DISREGARD their reminders and offers of assistance. Alarmed, we called law firm A and were told that they will communicate with the law firm B to clear the matter. We were also advised to just say the account has already been settled should anyone else call.

Today we receive yet again another letter from law firm B demanding payment for the same account. They even enclosed an advisory stating the new Rule promulgated by the Supreme Court “that aims to speed up disposition of civil cases”. I have emailed them advising of payment. Hopefully after faxing them the agreement form and payment slip, they would stop harassing us.

Again, DON’T GET ANY CITIBANK CREDIT CARD!

New credit card issue
I had an medical emergency and needed a credit card so i thought Citibank would be the most reliable one. But to my astonishment they are teh most careless bank. I filled the required form with the help of a Citibank agent and attached all the asked documents with some extra to support the speedy processing. I was promised that in 2 -3 weeks time i would be provided with a card. My salary -is way beyond the annual asked for and i work as a manager in the largest food company in the world (Nestle). I waited for 6 weeks no card... then i called the agent who facilitated my card process.he informed me my request for credit card was rejected on the basis of my company did not verify for me.I was amazed so i crossed checked with my company and found no one has verified here. After another week i get these 2 regret letters from citibank addressed to a sub branch of Nestle in singapore far from my office, whereas i had specifically mentioned the complete office address infront of the agent in the form, still citibank called the wrong office due to there negligence and must have asked for me... where i don't work and sent the regret letter to the same address from where i retrieved it today after almost 6weeks of applying... its a serious negligence on the part of citibank and in am very avoid with them as i wanted to trust them in the time of need. Its really sad... i tried to log on complaint in the citibank website but to my surprise again there is no customer feedback section or complaint format to do it on the website...

citibank philippines
had an agreement with a 3rd party collecting agency for citibank philippines to settle credit card obligation for 20, 000 php for a period of 3 months. was able to pay total amount of 7, 000.00. however because of unforseen medical expenses was not able to finish terms. asked if they could extend period of time to pay but instead agency has resorted to harassing me at home and at work. in danger of losing job what to do?

Misbehaviour on Demand of Statement
This is to inform you that I am facing problems with your collection cell.I have been continuously requesting the concerned persons to send me the detailed statement for my card as i have been paying with due respect but the outstanding amount never stands to nil. So after paying continuously for 3 years i asked for detailed statements but no such requirements were fulfilled inspite there were calls for collection & the staff misbehaved when asked for Details of payments made.
I request you to kindly look into the matter & solve the problem as soon as possible.

IN OCT 2007 I DIDNT GOT STATEMENT FROM CITIBANK, I REPORTED THIS MATTER TO CUSTOMER CARE, THEY PROMISED 2 SEND A DUPLICATE COPY TO ME, I PAID THE AMOUNT ITZ OF Rs 7097 ,i didnt got statement till date,In NOV 2007 DIDNT GOT STATEMENT AGAIN I REPORT THIS MATTER( I WAS 117 MINS) WAITING TIME FOR ME, THEN ALSO I TOLD THE SAME ..I PAID THE AMOUNT Rs.11158 Sir i am into bussiness i have to travel all over india, i kept some signs cheque with my wife to make payments, earlier in may i paid amount twice the amount is off Rs7717, in confusion i paid the amount and mine wife also did, just to over come this type of sitution i decided my wife will pay in future,IN DEC2007 THE STORY IS SAME NO STATEMENT, I CALLED MY WIFE AND SAID U PAY Rs 4000 in favour of citibank, after which i called in customer care they told me amount was some thing near 3850,IN JAN2008 I got call from INDORE, IN VERY ABUSIVE LANGUAGE GUY WAS SHOUTING ON ME, WITH LOT OF EVIL WORDS, ASKED ME FOR A PAYMENT OF 37240,I WAS SHOCKED MY LIMIT WAS 36000 only how come over limit, he only told me itz 54000, really surprize, guy told me we will wait till amount is Rs 51000, then we will show u WHO WE R ? SIR REALLY WORRIED
