CitiBank Reviews

No customer service
I got so frustrated with CitiBank I closed my account. They are simply not worth the frustration. They may have won the battle but they lost the war... I took my business elsewhere. I can fully understand why they are in so much financial trouble.

So, if you're having problems with them, just close your account and go somewhere else!

Mortgage account
I fell behind 4 months on my CITI mortgate and called to see what could be done to avoid forclosure. I was able to immediately pay the last 3 months but the girl on the phone wanted to set up an arrangement to "catch up" on the outstanding balance by adding $800 to my monthly payments for the next 6 months. I explained this would be difficult because it's hard enough to pay the reqular amount. She was extremely polite and helpful, but must have been new to her position because she put me on hold a few times, trying to workout a short term payment plan to catch up. While on hold, I sarcastically said to my wife that I'm trying to work something out but they seem to want me to pay even more and I should just "Tell them whatever they want"... Immediately, another person that was monitoring the call interrupted and very harshy said that they could not do nothing for me and referred me to the CitiBank attorney. I was even ready to put off my other payments, utilities, car, etc.. and bring the account up to paid in full, but was denied by Citi employee #RG18049. He then referred all question to Citibank's attorneys. I don't know what to do at this point I am not allowed to bring my account curent. Apparently this guy was having a bad day and decided to take it out on me.

Terrible bank
As a former employee of AT&T, I was guaranteed an AT&T Universal Card for life for no fees. They have recently canceled this account because I live overseas. I have lived overseas for over 16 years with this card and have received statements and been able to use my card with no problem.

I want to know how they can just decide to not honor their commitment to provide me this card with no fees for life, especially since I have lived overseas for over 16 years and had no problems until now.

Last week I received my monthly Sears Credit Card Statement. The interest rate for regular External and regular Sears purchases had increased from 12.74% to 21.99%. I have an good credit rating and have never been late on a payment. When I called the 1-800 number, I was told there was a change in terms agreement mailed out in January.

The prime rate is currently 3.25%. The discount rate is currently 0.5%.

Today I receive in the mail from Sears the special interest rate checks. In the fine print at the bottom of the page, it says: 'As of February 1, 2009, the variable APR for both regular External regular Sears purchases is 21.24%.' My interest charge was for the month of February.

When I called Sears, I was told the change in terms agreement now says APR is based on the highest prime for the last three months plus 17.99%. December 1, 2008 prime rate was 4%, therefore, my rate is 4% + 17.99%=21.99%.

If the new terms are as Sears now says, APR should say 21.99% as of February 1, and then 21.24% as of March 1. Sears could not convince me they are not using two different formulas.

Either way, Congress' failure to enact the Credit Card Protection Act has given banks the legal right to loan shark.

Bad service
How dare CitiBank broadcast an ad on how we should be more conscience on our spending. After misusing/abusing and downright mismanagement of their own (OUR) financial security and company earnings they put out an ad on how we the consumers need to be more frugal. It makes me sick. I would rather my tax dollars go to saving companies that are being strong held by unions than saving a bunch of arrogant know-it-alls.

Rude/Personal harrassment
Iv'e had my "Citibank" Card since 2000, 2001 when I was in School part of U/Promise which is bogus and never made a dent where that is concerned. Anyway They have tried to charge me a late fee numerous times (I pay my bill online) I'm not sure If it's the computer error, or Their error but the date in which I pay I always pay on time and always pay three times more than the minimum payment.

In short I wanted to Cxl the card(Sick of the constant need to charge a good customer) with all my years and all my buisness and her snippy attitude (I wished I would have gotten her name) she said "Fine I'll do that"

So now I will just take my buisness elsewhere. And believe you me Iv'e done alot of buisness on that card.

Falsely damaging my credibility
As I applied for Citibank credit card in the month of January 2009, I understand that approval of credit card application at the sole discretion of Citibank, when I checked the status of my application it got declined and the reason for decline was told to me by the representative of Citibank that I have not made payment for my previous Citibank credit card. To my knowledge Citibank never ever given me loan or issued me credit card before, I requested to provide me valid reason for the denial of my credit card application but I did not get any response from Citibank .As a result of this false accusation I feel my reputation is being damaged by Citibank.
