CitiBank Reviews

Raised rates
Citibank raised my rate fro 8.2% to 13.99 on my AT&T Universal card. After 3 days of phone calls A supervisor said that they were randomly selecting people to raise the rates because of their losses in the sub-prime mortgage collapse and because of the poor economy. I have had this card for 18 years.

Needless to say I froze the card at the low rate until it is paid off and the card is canceled as of the expiration date on the card.

Beware
I took over my 83 yr old mother's affairs & discovered she had been paying on a Sears credit card that belonged solely to my deceased step-father. I sent numerous letters & placed many calls to no avail. I went as high as the Office of the President. Finally today I got a call back & they said they cannot refund any payments. She had also been paying Chase but they refunded her $4k+. They were only able to go back 6 yrs & were apologetic about it. You would think Citibank, being in the same business & exceptionally large co., would/could do the same thing but they said no way. To anyone out there listening, I would highly recommend using Chase over Citibank. At least they were compassionate about helping a "little old lady" who wasn't business savvy in the ways of the world.

Scam artists
I was solicited for a Citibank American Airlines credit card with an annual fee with an incentive of a Companion Travel Certificate and a $50 off Travel Certificate. Both certificates were delivered but when you try to use the Companion Certificate (fulfilling all guidelines listed) the computer prompts with words to the effect that 'this certificate cannot be used in this case'. The certificates can be used only via internet and there is no support phone number given or available, according to Citibank Customer Service.

American Airlines Customer Service personnel cannot assist without 'a different code on the certificate allowing them to offer phone assistance.' They want a code with a 'star file' in order to assist with any reservation. Citibank customer service had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to explain that I needed assistance to use the certificates issued. Or when they did seem to understand what Certificate I was talking about I was told that the department that handles those cannot be contacted by them, has no phone number and they couldn't assist with the problem.

It was very frustrating trying to use the worthless certificate for a trip promised to my son after his 9th surgery. I finally gave up and booked a trip on other airlines at financial hardship and will cancel the credit card prior to the annual fee cycle coming up.

This to me is 'false advertising' and definitely a Ripoff.

They hate their customers
I closed my credit card just a few HOURS of the closing date of my next statement. I would have earned over $200 cash in rewards. I asked to recoup my rewards or at least re-open my card to get them back and was told I could not do that!

I tried to e-mail a complaint online, but their online system would not let me, saying that I was no longer a customer. It wouldn't even give me an e-mail address! So I wrote a complaint letter voicing my disagreement and the letter I got back was only 2 sentences long, saying that it's too bad and my rewards are forfeited. I understand the rules, but to come within a few hours of my statement deadline (I was leaving for vacation that week), I was very upset.

I will NEVER do business again with Citibank. I didn't even get the courtesy of a response, outside of a 2-sentence form letter!

CONNING ON PERSONAL LOAN
Hi Team,

I am Sudhin from Indiranagar..Today my friend got a call from CITIBANK PERSONAL LOAN DEPT(INDIRANAGAR) from an EXE Bharath who informed my friend that they are giving loan with 0% interest. He was surprised and did check again with EXE. The EXE reconfirmed saying it is 0% interest. So my friend gave his details and referred my name and number to the EXE. After 10mins I received a call from SARAVANA another EXE who called and conveyed the same. He took my details(Personal, Bank & Professional) and told me I am eligible for loan up to 3lacs and my rate of Interest would be 18%. I did ask him then why did you tell that it is 0%. The EXE immediately transferred my call to his supervisor POOJA. She took over the call and started the conversation with me. When I told her that the EXE did give me a different picture she replied saying “Sir the EXE would have given a wrong picture to attract customers”. This would clearly state that the Bank is aware of the conning what the EXE do to get leads. I am not sure how many customers are in the same trap by the same agents. I would appreciate if someone can take necessary action on this and stop conning customers.

Thanks in advance
Sudhin

credit card
The credit card in which i USED to have with this company was canceled in Feb of 2006. I paid it off in January. Waited three weeks and called (no charges were made after the payoff in january) and asked if there were anycharges applied due to the balance that was on it in january. I was informed i had a zero balance, so i canceled the card. August of 2007 i recieve a notice, as well as statements from the payoff month to the July 2007 statement, that the account was going to collections. My husband, as well as myself called and talked with several people at citibank, to not only find out why a canceled card was going to collections and we never recieved any notice of anything being charged to it up until the collections notice but what can be done about the issue now. After going through several people and several call backs we were finally informed that the day AFTER i canceled the card that i was charged finance charges. We agreed to pay via phone the balance with the promise of the manager that they would take of that months finance charge and insure that there was no other charge applied. When the payment went through my husband called and insured that the promise was something the manager actually followed up with. It SEEMED that he followed through. My husband was promised a letter sent stating the card paid in full. After we moved, it did take a bit for mail to catch up to us. When it finally did catch up to us instead of a letter stating the balance was paid in full and the card was cancelled. We recieved another notice of collections. MY phone number has never changed since arriving in california. The collection agencies began calling, yet citibank never once called or mailed anything other than notice of collections. I have gone through three collection agencies in the past year. Everytime a new one contacts me they tell me to put in a rebutal. I do, then another one is assigned my account. As of March 13th i was contacted by another Agency and have sent them the same information that i sent the others, i also mailed the information and the same letter(s) to Citibank. Citibanks response was to send me copies of statements, that were the same statements sent to me in 2006! The issue is still being sorted out and the citibank employees are extremely rude when we try to work things out with them. But I am not going to pay off a credit card that i cancelled and paid off TWICE already. Yet every year im being asked to. THis company needs to realize that their errors, are not mine. I did what i feel i should have done, TWICE.

Scam charges!
On 12/1/06 all my accounts were drained of funds. The Banch Manager told me to call customer service to file a report. Report process took longer than allowed by citibank they will not review any of the problems I address because their system 'only will go back 60 days'. 60 day dispute period is unreasonable as instructions and requirements are almost impossible to comply with. Filing a dispute was a mute point by the time I was able to meet with a branch manager or until I was able to obtain correct information by a telephonic customer service representative.

When I discovered that my three accounts were drained of all funds, I immediately went to a manager. I was informed, I was responsible for finding the missing monies. Once I 'found' my money, they would review the information and get back to me not sooner than 90 days. A 60 day limit was imposed to obtain the information. Only the bank has authority to review it's records as it is confidential information. No crisis resolution department was available to assist me. Over $20k were missing and never returned to me as there was no investigation.

I requested a review of my entire banking history, at a charge of $2.00 a statement. (Several bank personnel, in the branch and customer service recommended the shredding of all statements to prevent ID theft; the information was to be accessible online or through the branch. I was not informed of the $2 fee assessable to each statement.) I did ask for 10 years of statements from all of my accounts. Months later, I was informed that MY SIGNATURE CARD AND 6 1/2 YEARS OF BANKING INFORMATION WAS LOST.

The available statements revealed a pattern of thousands of dollars over the course of the years that were deducted from my accounts 'erroneously'. There were two $150.00 charges for two bounced checks that I never wrote, nor did the checks exist. When paying bills on line, dozens of times the money was debited from my account and not given to the debtor. Resulting in late charges and the amount I specified to pay was debited from my account twice. The problem lied in the 5 second limit to input information into the online banking process.

Demographic information on my account was changed several times. I did not receive statements for three month periods and when I did begin to receive statements I found several thousand dollars missing again. All the demographics were changed on personal accounts---statements addressed to my spouse, and we were and are currently involved in divorce proceedings. The manager of the branch told me that they don't check ID to change an address and it can be done at the branch or on the phone. At this time-----they had no signature card to compare a signature with as it was lost when they moved my files, and they went to another country. I have been unable to have any of these issues resolved as the 60 days had already passed.

To date I have been unable to find any recourse. I worked on this diligently for several months because Identity theft ensued at the same time involving all my creditors, virtually anything involving my money and credit. I spent hours a day for months. Subsequently all my affairs required crisis resolution, I became very ill and have been for over a year.

The right to refuse!
On Dec, 29th of 2007, I went to my bank; because I felt that my home CPU was being compromised for my online banking and I forgot my ATM password. I request for a New Password and for a New PIN. The Rep. by the name of Kathy told me that she could not do it there but I could do it online. I questioned her and we looked it up in the help F&Q. As we all know they have CPUs at the desk, and for your information I am a disabled person, who has trouble with my memory sometimes, so I like to have someone walk me through things. She stated that she did not know how, but she was the Assisting Supervisor. She then offer to have a more experience person by the name of Javior, who I know because this is my main bank. He said that he did not know how, so I just had to get a New PIN for my ATM. As he was filling out the papers for the New PIN, he asked me for two IDs, as I was taking all of the stuff out of my Wallet, he reaches for my Medical ID along with my State and ATM card, I ask him why did he have to see my Medical since I have been a member for over 5 years, his answer was; because that is how he does things. After that day I did not return until January 7th of this year.

As I was leaving the bank the Branch Manager stopped me and wanted to talk to me, because she heard that 2 of her employees did not like how I treated them. I told her that I did not want to talk to her and if I wanted to complain about something I know who to complain to. (in March or April of the 2007, I asked the same Manager and others at this same bank, "Do they know how I could get information about my TRW". not a soul knew what I was talking about and when I explained that it was about credit report, they still did not know what I was talking about.

On January 9th of 2008 I get a letter stating that they will be closing out my account, and they did not even state a reason why, I called up the help line of the bank and put in a complaint, to this day I have not gotten a reply.

In closing, the problem is not with Citibank, it is with the Office of the Comptroller of Currency; which is a partnership agency of the Federal Trade Commission.

If anyone wants to join with me and others to fight this monster who does not care about the average people PLEASE, PLEASE UNITE with me!

Mediclaim Policy
Dear All,

This regarding the medicalim policy sold to me(Advocate Mr.Raj Kumar Singh Raghav) & my wife Mrs Uma Raghav after telephonically consent on the basis of my clean repayment record of Citibank Credit Card.I have never received the policy bonds which were sold to me for which the premium has been paid by me in time. Now i am getting calls for renewal premium for current year.

My concern is that, why should i pay the premium when i have not given my consent to again continue my policy for current year?
Secondly i have not received the Policy bond.I totally don't know the term & conditions of the policy. Now i am getting calls & your employees are saying that we'll blacklist you for getting any loan from any finance institute. Now let me clear you all that i don't want any kind of loans so stop giving such lure to me for loan.I am an advocate & i am gonna sue agains your company in consumer court if i do not received the policy bond & permium receipts which i have paid.

With immediate effect stop making me calls & send me a confirmation letter for discontinuence of policy which i have not applied for.I want a written appology letter from your company for the mental stress i had undergone due to your irrelavant calls.

Please clarify me on written how can your company issu a medic claim policy to a credit card holder of citibank without taking his/her signatures.I want all these clarifications in written otherwise i will have to take help of media also.

Regards
