Keep getting payment after car was traded in
Citifinancial keeps taking out my car payment after I traded in the car and the dealer has sent in payoff, I have contacted citifinancial and they claim they have not gotten the payoff I signed papers over 33 days ago and have a new car but they keep taking the car note out of my checking account and I can't get it stopped today, according to my lawyer I have to close out my checking account of 16 years to stop them from taking out the payments and file legal actions against them to get the money back the dealer Rick Hendricks Chevrolet where I bought both cars and GM has been no help or support to me in this matter and calling citifinancial is a joke I can't get anyone on the phone that speaks English that you can understand.

Customer complaint
I called customer service to request an immediate copy of my truck title to be sent to the PennDot in Harrisburg, PA so I could transfer my plates from Alabama to Pennsylvania. My current plates expire June 30th. I have been attempting to complete this for a week without success. I keep getting the run around. The person I keep coming in contact with on the phone in the customer service department is very difficult to understand. I apologized to him and explained that I could not understand him and asked if he could get someone to help me who speaks better English. He refused and then said he would connect me back to the automated system. I said I didn't want to do that because I need to speak to someone whom I can understand and he got very rude on the phone and put me back into the automated system anyway. I tried using the automated system and I got the same representative. I explained to him again that I needed to expedite obtaining my title. I explained that the lady at PennDot faxed a request and she suggested I contact you to make sure your office received the fax. He told me the fax was not at that location and he wouldn't check anyway. I asked him to connect me to the title office so I could speak to someone regarding my issue with needing a copy of the title and he said he didn't have the correct number. At this point, you can imagine my frustration. Your customer service is a direct representative of your company. Right now, I am not impressed. Is there anyone out there that can assist me? Is there anyone willing to do their job? Appreciate a reply.

Thank-you,
James Ingold.

Scam
Was contacted on 4/7 by Angelica of Citifinancial Auto Loss Control division was told that insurances had made their payments and the remaining balance of $998.26 was left owing and would I want to make a settlement payment of $650 to pay it off. I stated that I would. She then told me she would check with her supervisor and call me back.

I called them back on 4/18 and left a message. I called back on 4/28 and talked to Tim Sharp who told me that Angelica was no longer their and I would be working with him. He told me he would check with his supervisor and to call him back the next day. I did and was again told to call back in a day or two. I did again and was told he didn't have an answer but he would call me back. I gave them my home phone, my work and my cell. He never called.

On 5/12 I called and talked to a Mr. Cast who told me that it was approved for the $650 and I asked for 2 payments to be made on 5/23 and 6/23. He told me I could wire the money by Western Union and I asked if a certified check from my bank would work. He said it would. I asked if he was sending out a letter or statement showing this agreement and where to send the money and he stated that it would be mailed.

On 6/11 the collection recovery office called and Michael notified me that no settlement had been made and I now owed $1, 742.22. I was informed that they knew nothing about the other settlement offer because they were in a different office. I then asked to speak with his supervisor. He told me he would have them call me back. Nothing happened so I called them on 6/13 and waited on hold listening to music for 15 minutes before hanging up. I tried all of the numbers to see if it would let me put in an extension and it would not.

On 6/16 I called and finally spoke with Mary Beckhold who told me my loan had been charged off and that I now owe $1, 801.46 and that if I paid $950.00 or 50% it would show on my credit report as charged off and paid. I then told her I was contacting the Consumer Protection Agency as to the practices of them offering a settlement and then letting it go and never giving me an answer in order to raise the loan amount up. I think it was because I only had the loan for 1 1/2 years before the accident and they are trying to get some of the money they lost on the loan.

getting a payoff
I was only 4 days late on my June 2008 payment. I went to purchase another car and because the June payment was not received as of that day, Citifinancial would not release a 10 day payoff, then they hung up on me after I called and explained it made no sense for them to deny me this information. Afterall, they were going to be paid EITHER WAY. This company as it's employee's trained to be bullies when it comes to collecting payments. To me, it would never be an attempt to collect a debt, it's just flat out harrassement!! I encourage everyone to NEVER use Citifinancial for ANY purchase.

Loan Officer Lied
In September 2007 I refinanced with Citifinancial Auto in order to lower monthly payments. I spoke with their loan officer Mr. Thomas. I told him that when I purchased the vehicle I had bought 3 other packages with it including GAP insurance. I asked if every thing would transfer and be the same on the new loan. He assured me it would all transfer. In April 2008 I had an accident. I swerved to miss a deer and struck a tree totaling my vehicle. My insurance company STATE FARM did very well. They handled everything quickly and fairly. They sent Citifinancial a check. When I called Citi about the total loss they then informed me I had NO gap insurance. I was very upset. Had I known I would have purchased GAP thru State Farm. I spoke with over 5 different managers (I have all their names) who told me it was too bad. One said "Sorry about your luck". I couldn't believe it. I got the number of the home office in New York and was told they would do a presidential inquiry. Two days later a gal named Amanda called me and said they could possibly do an amendment for the balance which was approx 8000 dollars. This would only decrease my payment and extend the loan. I was very upset because I was lied to over and over again. I was unable to find a dealer who could roll over that amount of money into another vehicle. So I called this Amanda back and was told that maybe they could do a settlement for a little less money but she couldn't tell me how much and that the total would be due in 2 weeks if I did that. I explained to her that I had spoken to my attorney who stated I had a very good case. He has advised me to fight them and not pay them another dime. I had every reason to believe that I had Gap Insurance. The kicker is when I spoke to Mr. Thomas 3 days after I found I didn't have Gap he remembered the conversation and said he really just meant my warranty transferred. I AM NOT STUPID the warranty has nothing to do with the financial end of the loan. That is thru the dealer. I am very upset that this company will not do what it says it will do. I also own a business and would never treat one of my customers this way. I stand behind what I tell my customers and what my employees tell my customer. What happened to honest and fair companys. I will never deal with them again nor will any of my family or friends. I tell everyone I know not to deal with them. I have registered complaints with the BBB and the Attorney Generals office. I hope Citi steps us to the plate and does what is right.

Harassment!
This company is horrible when it comes to customer service. I have been behind on my payment, but never 30 days or more! My payment is due in the 9th of the month and on the 10th they are calling my phone and my husbands phone sometimes up to 6 times everyday EACH!!! I consider this harassment! I know I am not the only customer who has ever been late on a payment, and I am positive that there are many customers who are VERY behind. After speaking to them they asked me several questions like... Why is the payment late, Will it be on time next month...! My problem with that is they are RUDE! They make you feel like you are the only customer they have that has ever been late and talk to you like trash. It's obvious if i didn't pay on time that I don't have the money, and I don't know if I will pay on time next month, I need to make sure my children are fed and have a roof over their head first. They don't care to hear about your hardship, they just want their money. I sure the person on the other end of the phone has been through a tough time at one time or another. Maybe they should realize if it were not for people like us using their company, they wouldn't have jobs to pay the bills they are probably behind on too. I am in the process of trading in my car just to get rid of this company. I would never recommend Citifinancial Auto to anyone.

Scam and fraud!
I purchased a vehicle with a Citifinancial Auto loan. After owning the used vehicle for over five years only $11,000.00 has been applied to the principle. Purchase price $30,000... In 2008, I owe $21,000.00. Never mind the fact that I was affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Citifinancial Auto breaks the law with Reposessions
After losing my job, and then my husband walking out on me, things got a little behind. I continued to look for work, but nothing permanent came up except for temp jobs here and there.

I don't dispute that the car note was behind (588/mo), but I am upset about Citifinancial not adhering to things that they've told me they would/could do to help me.

Yesterday I was in the shower when I heard a loud banging somewhere in the house. I live in a duplex and figured it was someone for the people upstairs, and I continued to shower.

My bathroom is directly across from a short hallway leading to another small room at the back of my house, where there is a back door. I had come in from taking out trash (which turned into a messy situation) and jumped right into the shower, not taking any heed to the door that was left unlocked, or ajar.

Imagine my surprise when I suddenly hear a man's voice in the back room! I jerked open the curtain and he apologized, and turned around (I don't know if he went back outside but I continued to hear knocking). I got out of the shower, scared out of my mind, and put on my robe and went to the door.

It was Citi's repo guy. He'd been advised to come get the car because, according to the information that was faxed to him, "she has no job and no prospects, and is not looking for work, and cannot afford the car that she has). Sidenote: 588/month for a mazda is a bit steep; i found out later that at the time I purchased the vehicle, the dealership "padded" my income.

Anyway. Not a week earlier I'd spoken to the lady that I"ve been keeping up with since my husband walked out on me, and she told me that there was no repossession on my vehicle, bla bla bla...but this guy, who wore a badge on his hip (but was NOT a sheriff or marshal) said otherwise.

I called Citi and asked what I was supposed to owe.

The rude ***** that I got ahold of this time asked me, "so what is it that happened to make you get behind like this?" I asked, politely, if she had notes on my account, I didn't want to get back into it. She told me "if you aren't going to answer my question, I'm not going to help you." I told her that it wasn't that I didn't want to tell her, but some of it was rather painful and I didn't want to rehash it all again when I'd been in contact with the previous lady.

She told me, "well, SHE'S not going to give your car back to you, I am, and I don't like your attitude."
So I went back into the story of my husband leaving me and losing my job, etc etc.

They tell me an amount approximately 1000.00 higher than what I was advised when I spoke to the lady I'd been talking to, PLUS I'd have to pay 500.00 in repo fees.

My mind was swimming, but all I could think of was getting them the money. You need a car to get a job, and I don't live on a public transportation line.

This "woman" goes on to ask me, "well, if you don't have a job, how are you going to pay for this car?
Even if you paid it all right now, I wouldn't give your car back without you having a job."

I didn't know what to say because I didn't think it was any of her business how I got the money. I could be hooking on the corner (WHICH I AM NOT), but as long as they get their money, who cares?

I told her I was with several temp agencies and had a temp job lined up next week, and she laughed under her breath. Then she told me that she didn't care, I needed to prove to them I had stable employment, and I would need to fax Citi something showing, on company letterhead, that I had a job.

I called a lawyer after I calmed down from being violated and, I feared, robbed (who walks into a woman's house and stands there while she's naked?? COME ON), and they told me that there was nothing legal in how the repossession was handled.

Normally, I would have signed NOTHING, but I was so addled after what happened, I wasn't thinking clearly. The lawyer told me that that's what the guy was trying to do.

Can anyone tell me if it is legal to deny someone their vehicle for not having a job, even if they pay ALL the past due, repo fees, etc ?
