Customer Service
I have asked repeatedly for phone calls to stop at work and they continue. I have also asked repeatedly via faxes to refinance the loan amount that I'm behind ($1500). I have received no communication from them. I have explained that I have suffered a financial setback (like so many other Americans ) due to taking a lower paying job three years ago and have tried to keep my head above the water but they do not care. I have a judgment against me by them. When they leave voice mails they are rude, hateful. When you speak with them on the phone they are rude, hateful. They talk demeaning. If I knew now what I needed to know back when I took the loan out, I would have never done business with them.

Overcharging
Someone tell me how to sue these people for overcharging me on my loan! They have repeatedly charged hundreds of dollars in fees when my payment was late instead of the $20 late fee. When approached on this subject I was told this LOAN was like a credit card interest compounded DAILY!!! Isn't this FRAUD??????????
Anyway I called the FORCLOSURE office to get a payment ampunt to get our account up to date. After paying that amount IN FULL again this month they want an additional $153!!! It's not even late! Somebody has to stop this madness

Phone harrassment to increase my loan amount
The company has continuously called and harrassed me at home and work to increase my loan amount. The lastest tactic was that they rejected my payment and sent it back to my bank. The bank mentioned that they rejected my payment because it had the wrong acccount number, the same one I had for at least a year. After my bank contacted me I contacted Citifinancial.

They acted as though they did not reject the payment. When I inquired about the account number they said that they may have changed it but was hesitant to give it to me. When I mentioned that the bank was going to reissue the check with the new account number they started talking about options to increase myloan amount. They mentioned that I could not pay for two months and they could adjust my loan so I could make lesser payments and get more money.

The company is the worst and I would warn any and everyone not to do business with them.

Harrasment
There is a Federal law called the "Fair Debt Collection Practices Act" that Citifinancial does NOT follow--harassing phone calls up to 10 times a day and up to 10 pm at night in my case. Any ways to slow them down?

I cosigned for a car loan with a friend. NOW I find out, I am the PRIMARY person responsible for it. I do NOT have a driver's license & canNOT even drive! We try to make the payments, but as another person said, the total amount due seems to never go down. They are a bleeping rip-off!

Sold my loan without informing me
Sold my loan with no warning...new company Santander something...calling wanting payment which has already been made.arrgh...horrible way to deal with customer paying a way over inflated interest rate to begin with. This company has a lot to learn about customer service, which is probably the reason they are selling loans in the first place. I believe this practice to be illegal, as they are selling and proliferating my personal info without my written consent. If this is not illegal...then it should be. Please do not do business with this company, avoid them at all costs.

Fraud alert
Citi Financial made an automatic deduction from my checking account a week earlier than we agreed to which caused major overdraft penalties from my bank.

Up until July, my account had been set up as an auto deduct from my personal savings account on the 10th or 11th day of every month, which is the days the Citi customer service representative allowed me to choose when I initially set up my auto pay.

Unfortunately, being charged on the 10th or 11th day created a situation where late charges were showing up on my monthly Citi statement. I always followed up on these late charges with a phone call to Citi and was always told that it’s a computer generated error and not to worry about it. I was nervous that Citi was reporting me to the credit agencies for paying late every month. Since the computer system automatically sent me monthly statement showing late fees, I thought the same computer system could be mistakenly reporting me as being late, even though I was being told that I was technically not late until after the 15th of every month, so I would not be assessed any late charges from Citi.

After I made several calls on this matter over the last few months, I was told that the easiest way for me to resolve this error on my statement would be to switch my auto deduct date from the 10th or 11th to the 4th day of every month. Since I no longer wanted to see late fees on my statement, I agreed to change my due date to the 4th, although asked that the new date go into effect in September 2010 rather than August. Since I made my July payment on 7/11, I needed more than 24 days (from 7/11 to 8/4) to budget for my payment. I’m not in a financial position to make two payments within a 24 day period, although I was budgeting to do so for in September.

Note, I voluntarily switched the dates in which Citi was to deduct my payment. I switched the dates because of the advice a Citi representative gave me to resolve a continuing glitch on my monthly statement which was generated by Citi’s computer system and not from an error on my end. I agreed to switch my dates voluntarily with the understanding that the new date of the 4th would start in September rather than August. Unfortunately, the payment was taken from my account on the 4th of August, which was a week earlier than I was supposed to make a payment, which caused severe overdrafts to my personal checking account. The overdraft are now at the point where I could be facing a huge financial hardship and will have a negative balance in my checking account for at least 30 days from today if Citi cannot resolve this for me. I’ve called my bank (Citizens Bank) and they are not willing to help me with this matter and said it is clearly an issue I need to resolve with Citi Financial. I spoke to a local consumer protection group and an attorney for advice and they suggested I attempt to resolve this with Citi.

Not customer friendly
I used Citifinancial for an auto loan which I have always made my onthly payments early and for more then the amount due. Never have I been late nor have I missed any payments. When I called to discuss possibly reducing my interest or refinancing for that purpose they thanked me for my excellent payment history and told me that was not an option. In addition the offered to lower my monthly payments by extending my loan. I informed the representative that I was not interested in giving them more money but trying to lower my interest rate, which would ultimately lower my monthly payments. Again the rep said changing my interest rate for a lower value was not option, but extending the loan was. So I promptly said "No Thank You", at which point the rep attempted to up-sell me on some other products and services. How repulsive!

Harassment
Whenever late for bill payment, I will receive 4 or 5 Phone Calls each day until bill is paid. They say this is just a friendly reminder and then they try to get personal information about my employment status, when bill will be paid, can they change or rewrite loan, etc.

I have repeatedly asked CitiFinancial to stop calling my cell phone because this only costs me more money. They say that this is Company Policy and will continue calling until bill is paid. I was not notified or informed of this Company Policy when I applied for the loan. I did not sign any paperwork giving CitiFinancial power to act as my attorney, accountant, secretary, or as my personal assistant watchdog.

Their job was to arraign the loan. If bill is paid late, that is what the late payment fee is for as long as the bill is paid within the month. If it is not paid, then the loan is default and they turn it over to Collections and inform the Credit Companies. That's it. I am now going to file harassment charges with the Better Business Bureau against CitiFinancial each time they call. I will also be checking with the Federal Trade Commission for violation of section 616 and 617.

I suggest others do the same.

Bogus late charges and rude customer service
I paid my loan with Citifinancial every month. In fact, I pay more than the payment in order to pay down the loan. They have consistently held my check until past the due date (sometimes posting a day after late charges would accrue) and then charged me an additional $10.00 for late fees. When I called to speak to the customer service representative she was extremely rude and refused to help me stating that I was either mailing to the wrong address (false) or using the wrong account number (false) and that it wasn't her job to find out why they weren't being received on time, it was mine. This month more than two weeks have passed since payment was made and Citifinancial says they still don't have my payment. I truly believe Citifinancial is sitting on my checks until after the late charge fee can be assessed and then posting my payment. Their customer service is deplorable. I have never had another debtor say that they don't receive my payments on time, this is exclusive to Citifinancial. I am going to take out a loan with a different bank, pay off the balance of the citi loan and close my account. I would rather give my interest money to another bank than put up with this. This should be illegal.
