False negative credit markings
I typically charge furniture when the no interest no payment deal is going on. Prior to the promotion being up i will pay up to $100.00 per month so that the balance is zero when the promotion is up. Well i decided to charge something else a few months prior to the end of the promotion and they applied several payments to the new account, causing that balance to go down but the old balance was not coming down. Well the promotion ended for the old balance and then i started accruing late fees and finance charges (at the time i had no idea, i admit i was not checking my statement). I then then stopped making payments, thinking that i didn't have to because of the plan that i am on. Well my credit was affected and balance grew higher and higher. Until i looked at my statement and noticed the high balance. I then sent in a letter to dispute all the finance charges and late fees. Well they did correct the balance on the account however failed to correct the negative markings on my credit. they currently have me listed as being late from 9/07 until 1/08. I am now asking for managers on this situation because they found their error but only fixed a portion of it. I have been hung up on and hung up on and transfered over and over again. I am pissed!!!

Dear CitiFraudFinancial Retail Services
AN OPEN LETTER TO CITIFINANCIAL RETAIL SERVICES:

Date of this letter: May 16th, 2008
Attn: CitiFinancial Retail Services
P.O Box 22066
Tempe, AZ 85285-2066

Dear CitiFraudFinancial Retail Services,

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT MY CITIFINACIAL RETAIL CARD REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF MY BED HAS A ZERO BALANCE ON IT AND HAS SINCE BEEN CLOSED AS OF TODAY—MAY 16, 2008. ADDITIONALLY MY CITI CREDIT CARD WAS CLOSED 2 MONTHS AGO AND CITICARD OWES ME $1085.00 IMMEDIATELY. IF YOU DO NOT RETURN MY MONEY, I HAVE NO ISSUE IN SUING CITIFINANCIAL SERVICES DIVISION OF CITICORP TRUST BANK, FSB.

Yesterday I received a piece of mail that appeared to be junk mail due to the inconspicuous nature of the envelope. Thankfully, I opened it because I closed my Citibank credit card a couple months ago with your company and there is no reason that “Citi-anything” should be sending me any further communication except for the $1085.00 that CitiCard owes back to me. I opened the mail in hopes that CitiCard was finally returning my hard earned money. But this was not the case.

The letter I received yesterday was in response not to my Citibank card—which is now closed, but instead, it was in response to a 0% APR interest rate that was good for a year regarding a loan I took out for a bed I bought a few years back through CitiFinancial Retail Services. However, when the 0% interest rate was up for the year, I paid off the entire balance of the loan before your company could stick me with the default rate. As far as CitiFinancial is concerned I am what you people call a “deadbeat”—one who uses the 0% interest rate to my advantage with the sole purpose of paying off the total amount of the loan prior to the default interest rate affecting me.

Yesterday, when I opened the inconspicuous junk mail looking envelope, I found myself being advised that, I have 15 days to “Opt Out” from your company raising my Standard interest rate to 24.99% and my Default interest rate to 29.99%. Additionally, it advised that my minimum finance charge will be increased to $2.00. Upon review of my options to opt out I was given 2 choices—to call your Customer Service at (866)-610-1757, or to write into your company. When I called your “Customer Service” number, I came to find out that even though the letter says they have normal open business hours to speak with a human, the department is actually CLOSED 24 hours a day. Gee, I wonder why—NO, I don’t.

The reason I closed out my Citibank credit card in the first place was because your company closed my account on me because I apparently missed one of your inconspicuous junk mail looking envelopes which apparently advised that I must respond in 15 days to the unethical changes your unethical company has decided to participate in.

Thankfully, due to the fact that I am not an idiot, I am highly aware of the financial fraud scandals that Citicorp Trust Bank/CitiGroup, and all of your company’s subsidiaries have willingly participated in—including, but certainly not limited to-- the Enron scandal. I am sure the Citicorp “Trust” Bank would love to forget that they paid out $2 Billion dollars as a result of the scandal your company willing participated in, but I have not forgotten, and I will not allow it to be forgotten.

Please be advised that this letter will be posted on every public forum on the internet that I can possibly find. Additionally, I may just be one person, but I know thousands of other people through my extensive networks and I will be advising every single one of them about CitiBank and their fraudulent practices that your company sneakily and purposely forces upon the average American consumer.

And by the way, please note that I have written this letter in the same exact itsy bitsy type solely so you can get a taste of your own medicine and be forced to squint to read it.

Totally and Completely Un-Sincerely,

X Janelle Schaffer Date: May 16, 2008

Not receiving payments
I have been paying my CitiFinancial account for sometime now. In the last 3 months I have mailed my payments to them in their attached envelope and twice out of the three months they call me and tell me my payment has never been received so there will be a late charge and everytime the payment is not paid they add on a $2.00 fee. Both times I have had to pay to stop payments on the original checks. I don't know what they do with their mail when they receive it but it is NOT getting credited to my account. This is very frustrating to have this happen time and time again. I called and talked to a manager, Amanda, and was told there was nothing that could be done. She told me to call the Post Office and check with them. OF COURSE, the Post Office is going to know exactly where my piece of mail is!!!!!!!!! She claims it is not their fault that the payment is not getting to the right place so there will be fees. I told her it is not my fault either as I sent the check out on the 2nd of Feb. and it was not due until the 12th. of Feb but that doesn't matter. I am still be punished because they did not receive the check or have lost it somewhere in their office. I closed my account with them today because of all of this frustration and will never do business with Rooms To Go again as long as they have Citifinancial accepting their loans.

Suspicious Fraudulent Practice
I purchased a set of furniture fro the Furniture Outlet Store at Medford, MN on July 16, 2006. The Store provided me with a promotional plan by Citifinancial Retail Services which would allow me a period of 18 months to pay without interests until Jan. 16, 2008. I paid in full with a personal check in the amount of $2,264.19 dated Jan. 8 2008 and sent it out the same day along with a few other payments to other businesses. I used their provided payment coupon and sent to their Ohio P.O. Box Coulumbus. Citifinancial was the only one who claimed that my check did not reach them in time and sent me a bill dated Feb 5, 2008 for back-interests of $784.18 plus a periodic charge of $7.11. The bill reached me on Feb. 11, 2008. I called their inqury office in Tempe, AZ. I talked with diffferent people and finally got the person named Ria (who claimed to be the manager of Accounts, Custormer Services of Citifinancial Retail, but refused to give me his last name). I asked him to sent back my cancelled check. He said that the check was electronically cashed and was immediately destroyed afterward. He also suggested me to contact the postal office to find out when my was delivered to their Ohio P.O. Box. I finally obtained a copy from my own banker who made a few phone calls and was able to get me a photo image of my cancelled check within 24 hours. On the photo image of my cancelled check, we found, indeed the check was dated Jan. 8, 2008, and it was picked up by box lot and bundled with other checks and cahed it on Jan 23, 2008.

I believe they were holding my check until the deadline was past.
My wife and I are both in our seventies and are retired professionals. At our age we can hardly handle this kind of harassment and fraudulence. I would appciate very much if you can render hand to us in solving this problem. Thank you very much.

CitiFinancial jeopardizing my reputation
CitiFinancial Retail Services
www.citifinancialretailservices.com

On 6/2/07 I set up automatic payment to Citifinancial through 5/3 bank's bill pay service. Prior due dates had been the 6th of the month so I set up scheduled payments to be sent 72 hours prior, the 3rd of each month. Unfortunately 8/3/07 was on a Saturday and 9/3/07 was Labor Day. Hence the payments weren't processed until 8/7 and 9/7 respectively. Therefore I was charged two months late fees inn addition to finance charges on the account. The customer service rep instructed me to fax a complaint, which I did, and the decision was upheld. When I called back, they (broken English speaking gentleman named Romeo) refused to give me the name/address of someone I should contact for additional dispute stating the decision was final. I have excellent credit and they're jeopardizing my reputation. I see here there are several additional issues similar to mine. This is obviously this is a repeated circumstance someone of higher management needs to recognize.
