predatory lending
Citifiancial is a predatory lender. They were fined in 2004 and the FTC is supposed to be watching them. CitiGroup uses the same dirty illegal tricks today. They start out with a small personal loan, come across like financial advisors. Then start flipping into another loan, because they won't let you pay it off early. They keep trying to get you to take more money and get your deed. Then CitiMortgage buys up your first mortgage, and you are dead! They foreclose on you from out of state, rip off Freddie Mac . They expect you to pay the equity loan after the house is gone. They wouldn't budge on modification. They are liars, cheats and thieves! CitiGroup is like cancer. They are diseased cells gone bad . Citigroup must be stopped

Failure to lock
I asked CitiMortgage to adjust my refinance rate down and lock it on April 28th, 2009, on my refinance application when the market rate was 4.875% on a 30 year fixed loan. I was being offered 4.375% with 1.75 discount points when the market rate was higher than 4.875% at 5.125% on March 30th. I also asked for a Good Faith Estimate which would have helped me in assessing my decision to lock. I have evidence of this request if needed.
CitiMortgage didn't provide the Good Faith Estimate and didn't honor my request to lock the rate on April 28th and let my rate float. As a consumer who was trying to benefit from the lowest market rate on my home loan, I feel that because of lack of action from CitiMortgage, I have lost the opportunity to invest in the economy and to refinance for a lower rate to avoid unforeseen foreclosure in future.
I have filed a complain with FTC's (Federal Trade Commission) Bureau of Consumer Protection to ask CitiMortgage to take corrective actions so consumers like us, who are trying to help the economy by refinancing, don't suffer because CitiMortgage can't support the consumers and honor their requests and decisions. In specific, I would like CitiMortgage to honor the market rate of 4.875% from April 28th, 2009 for my application, provide the Good Faith Estimate and expediate the closing.
Would appreciate if anymore can tell me 15 / 30 / 60 day rate lock fee currently charged by Citibank. Good luck to everyone who is having issues with Citibank Mortgage.

Secret life insurance pollicies on employees
A Texas law firm is investigating Citigroup and other banks for taking out secret life insurance policies on current and former employees, and collecting the benefits when they die.
http://insurancenewsnet.com/article.asp?n=1&neID=20090113290.2_e8e10061f739577c
HOUSTON, Jan 13, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE)-- Attorneys from Houston's The Clearman Law Firm ( www.clearmanlaw.com ) are announcing a nationwide investigation of banks that have purchased secret life insurance policies in order to collect benefits when current and former employees die.
Many of the world's largest banks have purchased "bank-owned life insurance" or "BOLI" for years, including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Bear Stearns, Citigroup, Wachovia, Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo and many others.
"We are investigating banks that insure the lives of employees without their knowledge or consent, " says class-action attorney Scott Clearman of The Clearman Law Firm. "These types of policies benefit only the banks, not their employees."
In a BOLI program, a bank designates itself as the beneficiary of life insurance policies covering its employees. Nearly half of all U.S. banks have reported owning BOLI policies at an estimated value of $120 billion.
A bank purchasing a BOLI policy must provide the insurer with personal information belonging to each covered employee, including his or her name, sex, age and Social Security number. Employees' Social Security numbers are then used to conduct "death sweeps" where banks typically hire outside brokers to sweep public records in order to learn if an employee or former employee has died.
A person whose life a bank insured without consent may have a right to sue for the bank's misappropriation of their identity (name, sex, age and Social Security number). Employees may be able to recover profits made by the bank, broker and insurer.
"It is ironic that thousands of bank employees have been laid off, and yet the banks still stand to benefit financially when those employees die, " says Mr. Clearman.
Since the early 1990s, Mr. Clearman has been a pioneer in class-action lawsuits against employers for wrongfully insuring employees' lives for the employers' benefit. Following several individual lawsuits for the families of deceased employees, Mr. Clearman pursued landmark class-action claims against Wal-Mart and Fina that resulted in major settlements for his clients.

I did not apply for this credit card
I received a mail with a credit card today from Citi. It stated that I had previously been sent a mail letting me know that my Home Depot consumer credit card is now a Citi MasterCard. First, I never received an mail, phone, etc communication from HomeDepot or Citigroup about converting my Home Depot card to a Citi MasterCard. Second, I did not have a consumer credit card with Home Depot, I had an instore consumer card/line of credit. Third, my limit was around $800.00. I called 1-866-510-2761 and spoke with a young lady who said that she could not help me. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Keith answered. I explained the above to him. He proceeded to sell the benefits of having the card. What? I told him that I never received prior communication. He said they sent it to the same address as this mail. I said "What if it was lost at the post office?" Am I still responsible? Is this as if I said Yes, I want a Citi Mastercard?" He said Yes. I then asked him why was my credit line/limit $3000.00 when my HomeDepot consumer card was only $800.00. He then tried to tell me that their plan/card was more flexible than HomeDepot and if I wanted he could lower it. He said that there was nothing he could do and did not offer any other options. This is unfair. With the state of the economy, credit ratings are very important. I have worked diligently to keep a good rating now to have a $3000.00 hit against my credit liability on my credit report. I want this removed off of my credit report. I am sure that other Home Depot consumers have no idea the ramifications of what this letter stated. I called the automated system to cancel my card. It stated that it will be closed in 5 to 7 business days.
