My wife and I moved to FL from PA roughly 5 years ago, during which she had an auto loan with Citizen's Auto out of RI. After moving around for 4-5 years in FL, we finally decided to buy a house and have been in our current residence for about 1 1/2 yrs. About 8 months go, we also got married. Two months ago she contacted Citizen's about updating her last name from her maiden name to her married name. After speaking to someone, she was informed if she provided copies of the marriage license, FL driver's license, and/or SSN card, they would be able to update her information and the title once the vehicle was paid off would have all the correct information, i.e. address and legal married name. Today in the mail she got her title and, to our suprise, it had a 5 yr old address and her maiden name. She was so angry, I called on her behalf and decided to attempt to speak to the most competitent person, a supervisor. She informed me that regardless of sending all the proper documents, they can only update my wife's information "on their end" and that she would have to go to the FL DHMSV office to get a "new title"- which is like a death sentence (takes hrs, etc) and is quite costly. In today's current date and age, it is unfortunate that these large companies only care about themselves and making money and hire untrained personnel.
