City of Porter,Oklahoma Reviews

squeeky wheel part 2 April 14, 2010
bogus ticket writting, bogus jury trials
We had to drive thru Porter, Ok. to get to Broken Arrow, our bank was there, I didnt have the money for the toll road, I told my husband to watch his driving, that town gives out alot of tickets, I had bronkitis, phominia, and was just out of the hospital, my husband had an suspended license and was going to pay the hundred dollars with the loan money I just recieved, and we were going to pay our bills and only have one bill to pay, my husband stopped completely at the only stop sign in town, and he was going 19mph in a 25mph school zone, we saw the cop on the corner watching traffic, I told him to keep it under 25, and he was going 19-22mph past the cop and almost out of town, we were about to reach the end of town and the 35mph speed limit sign, I said "dont go that speed until the whole car is completely past that sign, then we looked in the rear view and visor mirrors and that cop was behind a car that was behind us, then that car turned right and the cop speed up to pull us over, our tags were good, our seat belts were on, he was under the speed limit, and the cop came up to our car and asked us "whats the hurry", i said "what" he said "i clocked you at 33 in a 25mph school zone", i said "no you didnt, we were watching and he was going 19 in a 25 mph school zone, and he barely got up to 22 when you pulled us over" he said"whatever, i need to see your license and insurance"so as my husband explained how i was sick and how he only needed a hundred to get his license and needed the practice anyway, it was the less of the 2 evils for him to drive, i was on meds. and it had to be done, we owed the rent and was about to be evicted, i found the only insurance paper i could and it was a month late, i asked the cop to let me follow him to the station and he said i might have an accident and he'd lose his job, then he took from 2:30pm to 3:50pm to write 4 tickets, one for me letting my husband, with no license drive, one for him not having insurance proof up to date and one for driving while revoked, and one for speeding. his license wasnt revoked until he was pulled over and givin a ticket, so we went to court, we pled innocent on the speeding charge and was to have a jury trial, on the jury trial date, the jury consisted of the (court cletk, and the judge and the cop that wrote our tickets, the chief of police) and we were all sworn in and the cop got to tell his story, and when my husband started telling how i told him to watch his speed and stoping, because it was a speed trap city, the judge stoped him right there and he said "whoooaah, i have to stop you right there, this is not a speed trap city, if you got a ticket you deserved it, my officers are very good at their jobs and i believe them over anyone, my minds made up" then i said " do i get to talk now" he said "no, i already made up my mind, your guilty and you owe this court 334.00, do you have it tonight?" i told him we were on a fixed income and couldnt afford that much, he told us to come back and talk to the judge again, we saw alot of people who got bogus "running the stop sign" when everyone knows they stopped completely. one kid got a ticket for going too slow on a country road, where tractors go 3 mph. and one guy got a dui when he was under the legal limit to drive, and he told the judge it would ruin him and the judge didnt care about nothing but the money, so the guy told the judge"ill tell my friends and everyone not to come thru Porter, unless you want tickets" the judge told him"that'll probably be best for the both of them" then that guy left to pay off his fine and get back to Muskogee, OK.20 miles away, and the judge told the cops that wrote him a dui ticket, "off the record, if you want to follow that guy out of town and you give him a ticket or something, i wouldnt argue, but you better hurry, he already left" then those 2 cops ran out to catch that guy and give him more tickets and or jail. this is just too much to put up with, my husband doesnt want to pay for his tickets on princapal, has anyone else had problems from Porter, Ok. or simular towns? write it done, maybe those people can go to jail and owe fines, and see what they put others through., we're trying to get a lawyer.
