i brought my 9 year old son to the dentist today because i suspected he had an absyss formed on his back baby tooth. I was right. I had made an appointment with C.JO'Hanlon because the health centre only took emegency at 9am and I didnt want him to be in pain for another night as he was already in pain the night before. The surgeons room was v old and run down. The chair had brown seelotape on it and made a very loudscreeching noise as it went down with my son on it, he got a bit of a fright, the dentist is already a scarey enough place without that happening. I was no longer than 5 minutes with the dentist. in fact it took him longer to write the prescription than it did to asess my son. He never gave me directions on how to use the antibiotic other than it will tell you on the bottle. I was then shocked when the nurse charged me 40 euro, I actually had to write this email as I am in absolute disbelief. My owdentist in sutton had no available appointments to give me but I had asked how much it would be if they could fit me in and they said 25 euro for a check up, ten maybe 50 euro if he needed fillings.I am so angry and feel I was taken advantage of in my sons emergency, as I am aware that the health centre would have cost me nothing but the fact that my own dentist in sutton is so well kept and modern and only charges 25 euroa visit nearly makes me laugh. I feel this should not go un noticed as I am a single parent and cannot afford to be robbed like that and if this email prevents that from happening to one other person then great.
